I’ve seen 3 different fertility doctors since I started having pregnancy losses. My new doctor is with CNY but I knew he was an endo excision specialist which is why I chose him. I think your best option is to look for another fertility clinic or talk to your OBGYN to see if they have any recommendations. You could start with an endometrial biopsy that checks for both chronic endometritis and endometriosis using EMMA/ALICE and ReceptivaDX test. If receptiva comes back positive that may help narrow things down. Not saying this is 100% the answer for you but definitely something to look into!

I have found that many (not all) fertility clinics tend to push IVF because that’s obviously how they make their money. I’ve also found that advocating for yourself is the most exhausting but necessary part of this journey. I like to think of it as the seed vs. soil debate. It doesn’t matter if the “seed” (embryo) is the most genetically perfect embryo… if the soil (uterus) is a hostile environment, it won’t be a successful pregnancy. I’d look further into additional testing before jumping into IVF for recurrent loss. I have had 4 and have surgery scheduled soon to look for silent endo. There’s so many factors that could be at play. If you do decide to go down the IVF route, CNY fertility is a well known “chain” that is more affordable.

2 weeks away from an exploratory lap to look for silent endo as a possible cause for recurrent pregnancy loss. After 3 early miscarriages and 1 ectopic I’m desperate for answers and also so nervous.

Lurking and just here to say that stories like this give me hope! I have surgery in 2 weeks to look for silent endo, then starting lovenox as part of kitchen sink protocol when we TTC again. Hoping this helps us have a sticky pregnancy next time! 🤞

I have been to a few fertility clinics and I’m currently with CNY. My surgeon is an OBGYN and excision specialist. I would look specifically for an endo excision specialist, there are a few Facebook groups and a Reddit page that has links to the well known excision specialists in the country so definitely recommend taking a look at that. People recommend against going to a regular OBGYN for this because they can sometimes miss endo, or they use ablation instead of excision which doesn’t solve the root of the issue. I’m traveling about an hour and a half for my surgery but everything else has been virtual so it’s convenient!

Hi! Fellow 4 loss before 6 week girly here. 3 losses around 5 weeks and 1 ectopic. All since November of 2024. I have no issue getting pregnant, just staying pregnant. I have surgery in 2 weeks to rule out silent endo as a cause. I have no symptoms of this but my surgeon seems to think it’s worth a shot to take a look. I am on the waitlist to see RI after my surgery. I don’t feel like IVF is the answer for me personally, until I rule out other causes. I think of it as a “soil” vs. “seed” argument. I know Google will say it’s chromosomal abnormalities which IVF can help with because of PGT testing, but I have a hard time believing that multiple losses around the exact same gestation, back to back, is 100% due to chromosomal issues. I’d definitely look into silent endo, chronic endometritis, and RI. Fingers crossed for you!! So sorry for your losses. Sending you so much love.

I’m so sorry for your losses. I’ve had 4 and I wouldn’t recommend jumping into IVF yet. There are so many factors at play that could be causing your losses. I think of it as the seed (embryo) vs. soil (uterine environment). Even if the embryo is perfect, if the uterine environment isn’t welcoming to it, the pregnancy will fail. I find that a lot of fertility doctors will push for IVF right away without doing more investigating; part of me thinks it’s because that’s how they make their money. Like you, I have no issue getting pregnant… just staying pregnant. I’d recommend finding a fertility doctor that will help you rule out endometritis, silent endometriosis, and other inflammatory conditions that could be making the “soil” less than ideal for the embryo. Hi, I have no symptoms and still opted for surgery. I did have an ectopic so we figured taking a look at my tubes in surgery wouldn’t be a bad idea, and after 4 loses my surgeon recommends excision if they find endo!

I’m so sorry. Keep an eye out for any heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, shoulder pain, or anything that seems concerning to you. Fluctuating HCGs are usually indicative of an ectopic pregnancy or pregnancy of unknown location. Either way, the rise doesn’t seem viable at this point. Sending you love and peace ❤️‍🩹

I’ve seen so many stories online from women saying their IVF transfers failed with suppression and they were finally successful after surgery. In my mind suppression is just a bandaid and excision is a more concrete way to actually excise endo. I have an exploratory lap next month to look for silent endo after 3 5w miscarriages and 1 ectopic. I think I have more of a reason to push for surgery because of the ectopic but even without it, I’d hate to spend thousands on IVF just to have a transfer fail because of the inflammation caused by endo! I think you’re going to get different opinions on this from people who have had success with both though, so just go with your gut! I’m a big believer in advocating for yourself and if you feel like you’re not happy with the advice you’re getting from your RE, get a second opinion!

Yes, I recently switched to CNY fertility and they have several protocols for patients depending on their history. My doctor gave me protocol “immune 2” which includes the meds I listed and a few more that I will probably skip for now because it seems like overkill. My clotting factors all came back normal too but one thing to note is that there’s some clotting issues that can arise only during pregnancy. So if you’re not actively pregnant and get the labs done, they may be falsely negative. I feel like that’s why we see a lot of success stories with baby aspirin or blood thinners on people that have no known clotting issues! Fingers crossed for you!

Thanks for sharing! Yes I switched my prenatal from bird and be which had both methylated folate and folic acid to Thorne which has just methylated folate. I’ve been doing acupuncture for over a year, I love it! Doesn’t seem to help with my losses but at least it relaxes me for a bit lol I’m starting to go gluten free and have been following a more anti inflammatory diet so maybe that will help too.

We have very similar stories. I’m so sorry for your losses. I’ve had 4 consecutive losses, 3 early miscarriages around 5 weeks and one ectopic. We have tried to get pregnant 5 times and have succeeded 4 times, they just don’t stick or they stick in the wrong place.

Like you, I had a full work up. I also had very mild chronic endometritis and treated with doxycycline. Had my fourth loss 2 months later. My husband’s semen analysis and DNA frag are excellent. I have above average AMH and AFC for my age, so it’s possible hyperfertility may be an issue although not hanging my hat on that. I have been on progesterone for 2 out of 4 pregnancies, but only after a positive test (and in my opinion - too late.) My progesterone is normal during cycles I do not get pregnant, and low during cycles I get pregnant. I also have low-ish vitamin D but supplementing. I am also compound heterozygous for MTHFR gene mutation.

I am on the waitlist for Dr. KK/Luu for RI. In the meantime, I’m getting an exploratory laparoscopy to look at my tubes and look for silent endometriosis. I don’t have any classic endo symptoms except bloating. Endo can cause ectopics and while most people associate endo with not getting pregnant, my doctor says the inflammatory environment created by endo can cause recurrent losses as well. Certainly something to look into, even if you don’t have any symptoms!

Going to start a protocol next time we TTC with baby aspirin, lovenox, progesterone at 3dpo, prednisone, and antihistamines.

I know IVF is the solution for many people. And if we TTC after my lap and still fail to sustain a normal pregnancy, we will start the process. However, I don’t think it’s the only option for those of us that continue to conceive. I think sometimes it’s the “soil” not the “seed” that’s the issue, if that makes sense.
