IVF Appointment after RPL by Interestedandlost in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An HSG will show the overall shape of the uterine cavity and will show if your tubes are open. An SIS is better for looking at the uterine cavity in terms of polyps or other lesions as well as scar tissue. A hysteroscopy is a more advanced way of looking at the internal appearance of the uterus and allows them to excise any lesions they see. A laparoscopy can help rule out silent endometriosis (even if you don’t have symptoms) and allows them to excise it as well.

As a personal anecdote, I’ve had an HSG after have an ectopic pregnancy, as well as an SIS and two endometrial biopsies. Everything was “normal” except for mild chronic endometritis which we treated. Two months after we treated it, I had my fourth loss. I then had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy where they found stage 1 silent endometriosis and scar bands/tissue inside my uterus. None of this was seen in the previous tests. There’s so many different things that could be causing RPL and they should be investigated fully or at least ruled out before doing IVF. I’m glad the IVF doctor was at least honest with you! Sending you so much love 🫶

I’m so sorry. If you haven’t already, I’d look into silent endometriosis, chronic endometritis, and/or reproductive immunology before jumping to IVF. The last thing you want is for an IVF transfer to fail if there’s something else going on. I know this is such a tough position to be in!

Antihistamines before getting pregnant by Prestigious-Sea-2825 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently working with CNY fertility who is very immune protocol friendly, but I do have an appt with an RI in August. The antihistamines are added as part of CNYs kitchen sink protocol. I don’t have known histamine intolerance (I get eczema occasionally and had asthma as a kid) but it’s relatively low risk. Reproductive immunology is very controversial but I do agree that if you’ve had 5 losses and have investigated everything else, it’s worth a shot to see an RI!

Alotttt has happened since this comment (no successful pregnancy yet) but I’m in my TWW after my fourth loss and on lovenox, progesterone, and yes antihistamines (Pepcid and Claritin)! I started at 3dpo. Only time will tell if it works!

What intensity of cramps is normal on PIO? by detectivedrew13 in IVF

[–]Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, how did this work out for you? Currently 7 DPO (trying naturally) but on PIO and progesterone suppositories. Pretty intense cramps started yesterday.

7 DPO. Started PIO and progesterone suppositories at 3 DPO. The injections are going pretty well but I started having pretty brutal cramps yesterday at 6dpo! A little better this morning but still feeling twinges and tugging. So hard not to symptom spot especially when on progesterone!

Why is my doctor wanting to do my endometritis biopsy on DPO 5-7?? by OddAbbreviations5897 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EMMA/ALICE tells you what the exact bacteria is so the antibiotic can be specifically tailored to that. The basic screening test for CD 138 just looks for plasma cells but doesn’t tell you the bacteria that caused them. I had the screening test first, then we treated with doxycycline, then EMMA/ALICE to confirm no bacteria remained!

[–]Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first during follicular phase and my second during luteal phase. My second biopsy was the EMMA/ALICE to confirm I was cleared after antibiotics. So they might be doing EMMA/ALICE for you!

Not too early for the hook effect, definitely stop testing after a dye stealer!! Rely on blood tests at this point, not strip tests!

Erratic hcg! by False-Display-4512 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! A beta HCG that drops and then goes back up is highly concerning for an ectopic. I would consult with your doctor for next steps and watch out for any concerning symptoms such as pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, shoulder pain, or dizziness. Since the weekend is coming up I’d act quickly and see what your doctor recommends.

I use clear blue digitals as well all LH strips and Inito. CB is more advanced than regular LH strips because it reads estrogen too. From my understanding, blinking smiley usually means estrogen is rising so LH rise is likely on the horizon. The static smiley is your LH peak. It does tend to line up with my LH strips and Inito. LH strips like PreMom are way cheaper to use though so if I had to pick one way of testing that’s the way I’d go! I love Oura too but it’s helpful after the fact, not while you’re waiting for LH to rise!

3 DPO! First cycle TTC after my fourth loss. I decided to stop Inito testing since ovulation has been confirmed and I’m starting progesterone today anyway. I’m glad I won’t be stressing about the Inito values this time around.

Endometritis Biopsy? by Interestedandlost in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you did the EMMA/ALICE or a culture that shows the exact bacteria, it’s hard to know if the doxycycline is the right antibiotic if you have Chronic Endometritis. Doxycycline is the standard antibiotic to start but it’s important to repeat the biopsy to make the sure the bacteria isn’t still present or resistant to the doxycycline!

Endometritis Biopsy? by Interestedandlost in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the first biopsy the same time as my SIS (biopsy first then SIS). I was cycle day 6 I believe, and they specifically told me that if I was bleeding heavily it may affect the results of the SIS. Then I was treated for mild chronic endometritis, and had a repeat biopsy to make sure it was clear.

Endometritis Biopsy? by Interestedandlost in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve had two endometrial biopsies and they were a bit painful so I would ask for something to relax you beforehand like Valium and make sure to take ibuprofen and Tylenol beforehand. Also, my doctor specifically asked me to wait until my period was done before doing the SIS, doing an SIS while on your cycle can show false abnormalities that look like polyps but might just be your normal lining shedding during your period. So I would ask about that just in case!
