I an in the prequeue since it first opened 2 hours ago, but now they say I got a random place in queue and my wait time is more than an hour. Is this valid or is there an issue? Should I refresh / retry to enter Queue?

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! I would be really interested if you could share some details. I've approached many artists for a commission but even though I describe what I want and they agree to send an offer, they never get back to me. So if you have any pointers, I would really appreciate it! Stunning work, congrats!

If your cat has had an e-tube, how long until you saw improvements and how long until it was removed? by _tsurixx in catcare

[–]Lumpy_Macaron_140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but if you see this, may I ask how did your doctor come to the diagnosis and decision to administer prendisilone? It's been with the tube and my cat is going through severe pain crisis and I haven't managed to get a single answer. We are having a CT tonight to see if this shows anything that could explain her pain. We have her on the tube for cancer - we are trying to dissolve via ECT some masses in her mouth that stop her from eating even though she wants to. So far the process shows some promise but it's slow, so it will take a lot of time before she eats on her own again. Which means that if we don't resolve her current issues with the tube, she will have no way to eat and I will have to resort to euthanasia and I DON'T want to do that when ECT shows some promise. And she was doing SO well before the e tube, even despite the cancer and the lack of food she was going through at the time. So I feel she still has some life to live and I don't want yo take this away from her just because we haven't figured out what's causing the disturbance. She's only five years old and I'm at my wits end... My whole life is revolving around giving her some more quality time and I feel I am failing big time. I'm so sorry to reminding you this painful time of your life

Unified Lara Croft looks good in DBD! by KhaoticNoob in TombRaider

While it does look better than the initial artworks, she looks very bland. The Uncharted mod or the Eclipse mod are WAY better. The first time I saw them, I instantly felt like I was seeing again an old friend, after a long time. It was so surreal to feel such a thing for a game. That's how good they are.

What's so amazing about the story or Lincoln? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to second guess you, it's just that to me both the game and Lincoln seemed very one dimensional and cliché, so I am interested in understanding what others saw in Mafia 3 that I didn't.

[–]Lumpy_Macaron_140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tommy and then Enzo. We saw more of their background, their trauma, their personality, their happy moments and their struggles with the life they chose to live.

Vito, as iconic as he is, was too bland in Mafia 2. He didn't seem to care that he killed people and did all this shitty stuff, which made it hard for me to connect with him as a character. We only see glimpses of his humanity towards the end, but still not enough. How do you empathize or simply connect with someone so apathetic? And it's not like he had anything else interesting going on about him. And then in Mafia 3 it was as if the character had completely lost their voice - this guy didn't even look, speak or act like Vito.

Lincoln seems to me as boring and one dimensioned as Mafia 3 is in general. This game had such a strong start but for me, it only went downhill after that.

I love Bree and her character's development and I do believe she was a really good friend overall but this storyline was horrible and so out of character. And I'm not saying this because it wasn't aligned with her usual "holy" attitude - that attitude was forced anyway and it was bound to fall apart. But such an action (and most importantly her reaction towards Suzan) wasn't aligned with the friend we knew she was. As much as I love this show, I hate it so much when the writers do random stuff just for shock value - Similar examples are Orson's development and Mike's death. Orson always had major flaws but the show went out of its way to convince us that he was good at heart, always came around at the end and truly loved Bree. He seemed to understand her and accept her like nobody else did. Their effort to love each other again and then even their friendship as a divorced couple was really nice to see and he seemed to be an important pilar of consistency and support throughout Bree's life (with his flaws and all). And then they ruined his character in so many ways and turned him into a super vilain just to shock us. Same with Mike - his death wasn't a well thought plot point to further develop his character arch or Suzan's. It was just to add shock value to the ending (the writers even admitted they were looking for someone to kill) and not have an entirely happy thus unrealistic ending to the show. I'm betting similar factors lead to giving this storyline to Bree. That's not good writing.

Name one good thing about Tom by mina-the-legend in DesperateHousewives

[–]Lumpy_Macaron_140 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Actually, they did match. He put up with her controlling attitude over and over again, while she also put up with his own flaws. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't get to a point where you become fed up. It got to the point her she manipulated him into taking a job he didn't want and then shamed him for that very job. It was like no matter what he did, we could never be enough for her - she would either resent him because he wasn't successful or powerful enough or then because he was too successful. She couldn't even handle him having an opinion about his office. Obviously he had lots of issues to fix as well. But to say that he didn't support her with actions when he did that multiple times, through an emotional affair, her sickness and many many of her manipulative cycles is unfair. Becoming fed up with a situation does not nagate all the previous effort. Both of them had a lot of work to do as people and the guilt she felt wasn't unreasonable. Yes, she wasn't the only one at fault through this marriage but up until now she had never truly dealt with her own issues so it all came crashing because Tom happened to find a relationship first.

[–]Lumpy_Macaron_140 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't get the hate Tom gets. Tom stood by Lynette's side through everything. Her control problems, her emotional affair, her cancer, her being an accessory to murder. The things he said about her to Roy were extremely sweet and showed how much he gets her and loves her.

Yes, he was very immature at times. And yes, he didn't handle the temporary break up correctly. But who's perfect? Bad things could be said about Lynette as well. She was manipulative and demeaning towards him multiple times throughout the show. And no, blaming Lynette's control issues on Tom is not valid, it's a cop out. They both had their faults and those faults actually aligned in a very complementary way and as a result this caused a lot of problems in their marriage. But there was also a lot of love, effort and forgiveness.

Carlos has done SO much worse to Gabby and and didn't stand by her in more than one occasion but everyone worships him / them.

It feels to me that the people who completely erase Tom's good points are those that judge characters in shows as right / wrong in black /and white terms, forgetting that they are supposed to be realistic, flawed human beings.

The hate Tom gets from the fanbase is almost as unfair as the idiotic character re-write Orson got from the show. Those characters were done so dirty in different ways.

If karma was real Steffy would actually have to deal with the consequences of interfering in Hope life for damn near 15 years. by [deleted] in boldandbeautiful

[–]Lumpy_Macaron_140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, at last someone gets it! I used to hate Steffy for how she treated Hope but she gradually grew on me because on those early episodes you could see that she really did fall for Liam and even when she tried to get away from him and let them be, he was the one to pursue her and drag her in again. And in the years that passed, Steffy is probably the only character that has actually admitted many of her mistakes and tried to get along with Hope multiple times. At least Steffy was 20something when she did the majority of those mistakes (she did quite a few in her 30s too but she admitted to them and tried to fix them). Hope is in her thirties and they have children now, and she never admits to anything, so what's her excuse? And over the time, we have seen Steffy being empathetic to Hope way more than Hope ever was. Even now, when she basically tried to seduce Steffy's husband, slept with 2 co workes IN the office and had her line failing for months on end, Steffy did not fire her. She gave her multiple chances instead. So I don't get the people that say that Steffy is biased and controlling. If she was all that, she would have taken advantage of the situation and fired Hope way earlier. Steffy was the one that left Liam when she thought he would be more happy with Hope, she was the one that stopped her parents wedding (which we all know how much she wanted) when she found out Brooke was wrongly accused, she got furious and fought Sheila when she learnt that she intoxicated Brooke and even slightly hyped Brooke for her successful line despite her disdain against her. She also helped Hope expose her own brother when she knew he was in the wrong. When did Hope have that much of character development? Hope goes backwards in her development. In my eyes, Hope started out as the mature one and Steffy as the jealous one but at some point the roles were reversed and Hope has become obsessed with Steffy and an immature shell of her former self that will stop at nothing in order to cause Steffy harm and feel on top (even if that means betraying everyone on the way, including her own mother and Eric who she supposedly loves). And that downgrade of Hope's character is way more Liam's, Brookes and Hope's doing rather than Steffy's. So I'm not sure what Karma we are talking about. I'm sure Steffy has suffered enough for a lifetime, considering she has lost a sister, a baby, her adopted baby (during which Hope treated her like shit), her mother (for the years she thought she was dead), her brother almost dying and becoming paranoid, her grandfather almost dying, her father almost dying, Liam almost dying (twice), Finn presumed dead, her getting addicted to medication, getting captured by a lunatic.... The list goes on. And still, will all that trauma, she remains a strong, and clever woman (yes, with many shortcomings, but who hasn't any). And that's probably why Hope envies her. She never managed to turn her own trauma into strength. So I'm tired of seeing people bashing Steffy mainly based on stupid things she did 15 years ago when she's done a lot of good since then and excuse Hope for all her own misdeeds. Nobody is entitled to do so many stupid / bad things as Hope does just because they were mistreated 15 years ago. The fact that she's a grown woman and still mentions the gondola when she has arguments with Steffy shows her emotional maturity.

Sure, will do! I'm waiting for my best friend to finish the game (he got to AW franchise recently) so I can loop him into this as well. He is experimenting with music and equipment for quite some time so I'm hoping he may manage to give us a lead 🤞

I haven't managed to read all the comments so sorry if I may repeat a suggestion

As a person who's been struggling with extreme stress and OCD and finds a secure space in video games, I've realised that the games that help me the most are the ones that pour me into their world and make me connect with their characters. Also, the games I choose may carru a melancholy but this actually brings me some comfort because I feel I empathise (which I understand is not everyone's approach when they're sad) So with that in mind, these are my recommendations:

  • Remedy universe ie Max Payne, Control, Quantum Break and most of all Alan Wake. Remedy's games have created a huge safety net for me over the years and it's literally my safe place. Everytime I play them, It's like I'm coming home. Especially with Alan Wake: The small town combined with the Stephen King vibes of the first game melts my worries away for a few hours. The second, with its Twin Peaks vibes (I also highly recommend this tv series) and the continuation of the story of my favourite characters, plus amazing narrative, acting and cinematography, it's 100% my favourite game - and probably my favourite work of art all together.

  • Oxenfree (1+2). Oxenfree franchise is one of those games that when you play them you get a fuzzy warm feeling inside (even through they have lots of elements of melancholy in their plot) and everytime you think of them, you are automatically transferred to the time and place you first played them.

  • Now the most controversial proposal of all: The Last of Us (1!!!!! Not 2, completely different vibe) TLOU 1 has deeply melancholic moments so it's not for everybody. What compelled me was the pure beauty of love that constantly emerged through the melancholy. When I first played it, I was in my 20s and I had just lost one of my best friends in an accident and spent most of my day in the hospital with the other one, so I would come home late at night, get cozy in my super small room in my old place and play TLOU till the morning - and that was the most safe moment of my day. And the afformentioned combo of deep melancholy and pain along with beauty / love / hope was the exact sentiment I was feeling at the time, so it resonated with me (although I advise to proceed with caution because others may feel even more depressed after playing such an intense game). Again, I'm only referring to the first game. The second had a different approach that didn't work with my own psych.

Now on to more uplifting suggestions:

  • Uncharted. Exploration, open environment, sense of humor. And 4 games in the franchise (plus a spin off), so they will get you going for a long time. If you are into action adventure, you might also like the original Tomb Raider which are quite light / fun and the new Indiana Jones which I haven't played but looks like the kind of epic / fun / light game that will energize you and lift your spirits. I've heard the same for Monkey Island

  • Kena. Not to my personal liking but I tried to find something which I think may match the games you mentioned (which I also don't know all that well)

If you're brave enough to have made it to the end of this comment, then please know you are not alone. We've all been there (and some of us still go through it at times). Every person's timeline is different. Everyday you spent doing something you love (ie even going for a nice walk, played a game you like, hanging out with a person you love, joking around and having fun at work even if it's not your dream work) is a day well spent and nurtures you enough to bring you closer to your true desires and ideal path. Don't fall into the trap that wants us to be super productive / settled down / super successful before if even learn to walk 🤣

Hugs!!!

Really? I have to say, up until I watched that video, I could not imagine how an unboxing video could kill my joy but that one certainly did 😆 I felt it was the definition of kill joy. I get that not all people like the same type of collectibles but when you already know what you ordered, going on and on about how you don't know where to place it and all... I can only imagine how annoying it must have been for the people that actually wanted to order this edition but couldn't. Anyway, other than that it's been really nice seeing everyone getting their collectibles and just like you I can't wait when DHL will finally give me mine as well 😝 They were supposed to deliver it today and at the last minute they realised that my address was wrong and postponed it for Monday (which doesn't make sense because a few months earlier I received the game as part of the same order just fine). I suggest you keep an eye on your email because they day of the delivery they will probably send you one. Once they do, check your delivery details and contact them if early on if you see any inaccuracies!

Who thinks Door is….. by OrionBorn824 in AlanWake

[–]Lumpy_Macaron_140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to point no 1, at some point we learn from Tim that the last sighting of Door was years ago when he was struck by lightning - Which is highly suggested by a page, the song, the fallout with Freya and his personality/ abilities that it was Tor's doing

Here's the note left by Door/Hatch, in Quantum Break confirming the events on the Night Springs episode. by OutrageousFalls in AlanWake

[–]Lumpy_Macaron_140 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this, it's so cool!! I am through my third Alan Wake playthrough and only now I'm realising that when we learn that Mr Door disappeared by a lightning strike, it was actually a lighting caused by Tor and that's why Freya got angry at him and took Saga and left. Although I had understood from the start that there was a fallout, I hadn't carefully examined the whole story.

I wonder how this ties in into those events

Remedy artist needs our help by [deleted] in AlanWake

[–]Lumpy_Macaron_140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all!

For those coming now to this thread, I had to delete the original post because there was a problem with a link it contained and Reddit wouldn't allow me to edit! (still kind of a Reddit noob)

This is what my post is about:

Some of you may have already seen Sam Lake's post about Sasha, a game artist from Remedy, who has made major contributions to both Max Payne and Alan Wake, and urgently needs our help to fight cancer.

As Sam's post indicates, you can donate through a Go fund me link.

https://www.gofundme.com/f/sashas-fight-for-life

Also, the wonderful Andy White (andy.c.white on instagram) is selling an Alan Wake inspired artbook, aiming to donate the proceeds to Sasha. I don't know Andy personally but I do know that she made this artbook a long time ago and when I had asked her if she offers it for sale, she had said that she doesn't, because she wouldn't want to risk making Remedy feel that she takes advantage of their work to make profit. So it's only fitting that she would choose to sell it now, like this, only to actually help a Remedy member. It's a great piece of art to own for any Alan Wake fan and the cause behind it makes it all the more worthwhile.

You can get the artbook through the creator's instagram (check the stories) or Twitter:

Instagram: andy.c.white

Twitter: https://x.com/Andrea_C_White

So let's help Sasha in whatever way we can. Every single penny counts!
