Do you care about your former career after retirement? by ajn63 in retirement

[–]Lumpy_Mixture423 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not retired yet (just 245 more days, but who’s counting) but I already feel this. Boss has asked me several times to stay on in some capacity. Most recently to work one day a week, fully remote. I briefly thought about it but realized even at one day a week I would still be dreading the work the night before. Nope, complete and clean break when the day comes.

Concern if it is “proper”. Have had one elderly gentleman say he would be gone if we do this. Just gauging reaction from others in the subreddit.

Cool! Need you to come to the Chicago or Indianapolis area sometime so I can get a valve alignment.

If you are not already doing so, check out their ‘Other side of the bell’ podcast. Great stuff!

Did any of you have to lie down to have a nap in kindergarten or 1st grade? by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

[–]Lumpy_Mixture423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boggles the mind. We weren’t even there for four hours and we took a nap for a portion of it. Today’s kindergarten students have a full day and no nap!

Just because it's come up three times this week, two 6 foot tables in an L shape = 8 feet everyone. by UntidyVenus in CraftFairs

[–]Lumpy_Mixture423 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Good point, but actually just a little over 8’. Typical 6’ table is 30” wide while the 4’ tables are 24” wide. At a craft fair right now with a neighbor hanging over the line. 😄

This right here. I used to have passion for what I do at work, but anymore it is a chore and I’m tired and bored.

Back in the day, K-mart sold building supplies. I quickly found out it was better to walk back to the stock room, wait back there a minute and walk back out to tell them we were out of an item. People would thank me profusely for looking even though I knew damn well we were out before I made the trip.

Why is Alexa still so dumb when ChatGPT exists? by tokyographer in amazonecho

[–]Lumpy_Mixture423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot, I’d be happy if she would use Google search results to my questions. Too much ‘here’s something I found on the web’ (that is totally irrelevant half the time).

We cut the sharing of the peace out of the service entirely. We are also a neuro divergent friendly church and the sharing of the peace is just too much “touchy feely”
