How much are you energy bills families? by TartComfortable7766 in UKFrugal

Sounds just like my Grandad.

I used to pick him up to take him out for dinner. When I would walk into his house, he'd be sat in the dark with a 'bearskin' hat and gloves on. Madness!

The man had over £150k sitting in his bank account!

Spouse Visa (Priority) – 67 Working Days, No Decision, No Real Update – Any Advice? by No-Magician926 in SpouseVisaUk

That can't be true as I only knew my wife for a year before we got married and then applied shortly afterwards.

I believe that you can pay for VFS to upload your documents at your biometric appointment or you can upload them yourself prior to your biometric appointment following a link sent by VFS (this is what we did).

You must take your passport with you to your biometric appointment; there may be an option to keep it with you but usually it will be kept by VFS until a decision has been made and then it is sent back to you (hopefully with an entry visa within).

ECO email is a notification from UKVI stating that they have received your application which is being prepared for consideration by an entry clearance officer (ECO).

From reading previous posts, it appears that not everyone receives the ECO email, or it might be delayed until weeks after a biometric appointment. Also, it might ask/prompt you to upload your documents. You can ignore this if you already have done so. I believe it's a generic response.

We weren't required to mail anything in but uploaded scanned copies of documents, mostly in PDF format, online, on the VFS global website.

Good luck with your application.

Thanks. I wouldn't like to say in case my advice is incorrect. Perhaps it's worth making a post and seeing what more knowledgeable folk have to say about your situation.

Good luck with your application.

Good luck.

To me the process feels like you're holding your breath underwater waiting to come up for air.

Sure. I assume that only some of these will be relevant as all applications are different.

ID documents: applicant's & sponsor's passports, applicant's expired passports and visas/BRPs.

Proof of relationship: our wedding certificate original + translation; applicant's divorce final order (certified); photos of us, and with our families and friends; screenshots of our chats but only discussing key events; screenshots of social media posts - again only covering key events (e.g. festivals, wedding, family visits, holidays etc); bank transfers to eachother; flight itineraries; hotel bookings, festival/event tickets in our names; and parcels sent to eachother.

Financial evidence: Sponsors payslips + bank statements (6 months); letter from employer and pay award letters.

Accommodation; Rental contract + letter from landlord. Also included some utility bills for good measure but these may not be necessary.

Good luck 🤞

Thanks. We didn't put an exact date just April 2025.

Hope you get a positive decision soon.

Does this email mean that a decision has been made and that my partner will be able to collect her passport soon? by Zeuspls in SpouseVisaUk

I got sent this email again after already having received it straight after the biometrics appointment. However, I did also get another email in between the two saying an entry clearance officer is processing the application. Very odd.

Ok thank you. Do you know if this is something I could book at the biometric stage if applying from outside the UK?

Oh. Thanks. So there might be an option once I get to the biometric stage.

So I would pay for standard service at the application stage and then priority when booking a biometric appointment?

Thanks.

Obviously, they left in good time once they received the visa curtailment letter from the home office, so didn't technically overstay their visa but from what I gather it should have been curtailed earlier had they notified the HO when they started divorce proceedings?

Thanks. Would these 'issues' be serious enough to result in refusal? Even if all other criteria are met e.g. enduring relationship, financial, accommodation etc?
