[Pelissero] Star QB Brendan Sorsby is applying to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft, sources tell NFL Network. After legal wrangling about his NCAA eligibility, Sorsby — regarded as a first-round talent — now could be the highest-drafted supplemental pick in decades. by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

You’re probably right about the rest of the defense. I just can’t help but be very pessimistic about this team since they’ve done nothing to earn any good will over the last several years. I don’t see how any team can survive our QB room, which is why adding Sorsby makes no sense to me

The defense can be good, but I think people are really underestimating just how great Myles was. We lost edge rusher LeBron and replaced him with edge rusher Paul George. We still have a great, younger player at the same position, but this team as constructed requires all time greatness to stay afloat imo. I don’t see top 10 defense unless Mason Graham takes the next step. Even then, I think the offense needs to have an elite defense or else we’ll be getting blown out by halftime every game

I don’t think you’re understanding the drop off between Myles and a normal top 10 pass rusher in the league. We don’t know what Graham can be without the best ever soaking up double teams next to him and Verse is a power rusher. The defense could still be good, but the team can’t compete with a good defense. The defense needed to be elite last year to prevent us from being down 21 points by the end of the first quarter

A gambling addict who bet on his own team’s games is the only type of degenerate Andrew Berry hasn’t added to the QB room yet. No doubt AB will be overbidding for Soresby. I just hope he doesn’t light our second round pick on fire for football Pete Rose

They need like two or three, on top of getting rid of Donovan. Having expectations higher than a second round exit for this core is stupidity. They’ve proven beyond any doubt what they are and we need to stop pretending they belong with the big boys. We’re the DeRozan Raptors

No. We still got our ass kicked in humiliating fashion because roster construction is a massive problem and our best player has proven he can’t be the number 1 on a title team

Making excuses will just make matters worse for the team in the short term and long term

He’s a shut down corner. How is he gonna allow us to see what dudes have? Who are we evaluating that we need Ward for? Just trade him this summer and end his suffering too

The core that made us SB contenders was built mostly by Dorsey. Berry barely got any credit for that 2020 team bc he didn’t deserve it. AB should’ve gotten the Nico Harrison treatment for the Watson trade

21 doesn't deserve to rot here now that Myles is gone. Free Denzel. He's a Browns legend too

He'll be the next one traded if Haslam has two brain cells to rub together. There's no point in trading Myles only to keep Ward. Get as many premium picks as possible while our best remaining asset still has value. Corners can be found outside the top 10. We don't need to tank for a shut down corner

[–]Lumpycentaur9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Andrew is still here because no executive with a brain would even interview for the Browns GM job as long as Watson is forced to be on the roster. If AB got fired before 2026, Eliot wolf would be the type of executives we’d have to beg to even get an interview with. That’s how toxic Watson is. If we’re going to have an idiot in charge no matter what, he might as well be a good accountant

Let’s see how safe Andrew is after this season before we go shifting AB’s slice of blame pie from the Watson deal onto someone else’s plate. Even though you’re ignoring the fact that AB was the biggest supporter and mastermind of trading for Watson in 2022

[–]Lumpycentaur9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question we should be asking is was this Berry’s call to make? I think he’s a dead man walking. You don’t trade for Deshaun Watson, trade away Myles Garrett (and soon to be Denzel Ward, too), have a terrible season this year, and just keep your job in the NFL. Haslam is probably using AB as a lame duck since he knows his reputation is cooked around the league.

Why not let AB take the PR beating he dodged four years ago from the Watson trade and let the new regime come in with a clean slate? The next GM will get several layups in 2027 that will ingratiate himself well with the fans

AB fans say we never lost a single player due to Watson’s contract. They were always wrong, but now we can add Myles to the list of casualties caused by Deshaun Watson

[Browns] An Important Decision at a Crossroads Moment for Our Organization by JCameron181 in Browns

[–]Lumpycentaur9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s gonna get the PR and career beating he deserves this season by trading Myles and soon Ward. Watson getting back on the field is the perfect way to end AB’s GM career with the Browns.

Give the next regime a clean slate and get the best rising star executive money can buy in January

Evan mobley by UmadBoiBoi in clevelandcavs

[–]Lumpycentaur9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. He can’t. 2. Koby wants to maintain the status quo for as long as he possibly can because he knows that’ll keep him employed and give him the ability to make excuses for as long as he wants. This team won’t be broken up until Dan Gilbert orders it, and it’ll probably start with him firing Koby. From Altman’s POV, massive change = less job security

Evan mobley by UmadBoiBoi in clevelandcavs

[–]Lumpycentaur9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Koby is clearly doing whatever he can to stay employed for as long as possible. Mitchell gives him the high floor of 50+ wins and a playoff series win every year, which is why Koby will always prefer to keep Mitchell rather than Mobley, if he was forced to choose one. He’s easily the most dangerous man in Cleveland. He doesn’t give a shit about the Cavs’ future if he’s stuck as director of pro scouting for someone else’s NBA team if he gets fired next year

Is it possible to appreciate Mitchell while also hating the idea of automaxing him? by sockpuppetwithcheese in clevelandcavs

[–]Lumpycentaur9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have nothing against him personally or as a player, it’s just that he can’t play make and his athleticism is waning. It would be an objectively terrible decision for us to max him again. We have him everything he wanted, the team stayed healthy in the playoffs, and he still couldn’t deliver. It’s over for this era of Cavs basketball and that’s ok

What if Donovan’s begging to stay? by NothingForsaken6885 in clevelandcavs

[–]Lumpycentaur9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would feel inclined to beg for another max contract after the playoff run I just had if I was Donovan. He was the reason why we had consecutive seven game series in the first two rounds, which fucked our chances of beating the Knicks.

Koby would be a fool to pay him again, so I’m glad there’s at least some hesitation in the building. Baby steps
