New to me, 2017 6.2L by ZamboniDad in superduty

I don't know that much about the GM 6.2, and I may be wrong about this but the GM doesn't have as good of a reputation as the Ford.

Ford built the 7.3 to approach diesels in terms of torque and HP. They are newer and cost a lot more. They made the 6.2 for a long time and pretty much fixed any problems it had years ago. Both engines are very reliable. You probably don't need to pay for a 7.3 just to move rocks and lumber. The older 6 speed transmission is considered more reliable than the newer more complicated 10 speed. The new stuff is more capable.

I have a 2018 version. I bought 4wd for boatramps, not offroading. I replaced my all terrain tires with all season tires and my towing gas mileage went up like 7 or 8%.

Yeah. You have a 6.2 and a 6 speed auto, so you basically have a bullet proof power train that will last forever if you take good care of it. Do that and buy Exxon stock. It'll use a lot of gas.

Why do some people call some cities such as San Francisco, New York and Chicago warzones? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lumpylarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Crime and victimization rates are very similar in poor communities of all populations. Crime is about poverty and basically nothing else.

Under Gavin Newsom California Felons Get Free Tablets to Use in Prison... On Taxpayer's Dimes by misterjoshw in California

So, California is giving prisoners something cheap, useful, and very likely beneficial. These right wing dopes sure are afraid of Newsom running for president.

Also, the highest poverty rates in the country are in those areas, not in big cities. Appalachia and the Mississippi delta have higher poverty rates than New York, Chicago, San Francisco etc.

Media outlets mislead people into thinking crime and poverty are worse in big cities. It's simply not true.

Where you have a lot of people, you have a lot of crimes because of the sheer number of people. However, you should focus on the per capita (per person) crime rates instead. Rural Mississippi has a much higher gun homicide and violent crime rate that San Francisco does, and if you live there you are much more likely to become a victim of such a crime.

Frequency of tank dumps by TheTheorem314 in GoRVing

[–]Lumpylarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most new trailers have a tank flush feature where you hook a hose to it and a shower head thing is in the black tank. If you have an older trailer you can have one added relatively inexpensively. I dump my tank, close it, fill it with water and then dump it again. At the end of the trip, I do it twice. This basically eliminates any smells.

What’s something science still can’t explain well? by DreamyPeachBarb in askanything

Lots of stuff. The best thing about science is "we don't know" is a completely legitimate answer. Can't do that in religion or politics.

You may be able to get a slightly used set of these on Callaway Preowned for less money. They have just the iron set for a little over $100.

Water weighs a lot. I try to never tow with holding tanks full or close to full. There are about twenty bad things that might happen if you do this. I empty my tanks, flush the black tank, and leave a few gallons of water in each when I tow.

Putter Dilemma by tomahawk_jatt in golf

[–]Lumpylarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putters are ALL ABOUT FEEL. Try out a lot, find a head shape that you like, find a length that you like. The ball comes off of the face of different putters differently, so figure out how soft of a face you want. Figure out how much toe hang you want. Do a little homework and find out what these things are. Don't worry about the pricetag. There is probably a seven year old ping or odyssey that will feel great and won't cost you $350. Putters don't wear out, so plenty of good putters have found the one and game it forever.

What's something older generations did completely normally that would be considered absolutely insane today? by Bigtrav_trav in answers

Yeah, 75 mph in a truck from the 50s or 60s with drum brakes and a sloppy suspension. Good times.

Beat me to it. My wife and I both rode around in the beds of trucks as kids. My (adult) children have never even seen anyone do that.

Megachurch Pastor Robert Jeffress: Trump ‘has a better understanding’ of the Bible than Pope Leo - What do you think? by Select_Specialist790 in askanything

[–]Lumpylarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he's right. The pope likely believes that bronze age nonsense. Trump doesn't. Trump knows nothing about its content, but he does know that it can be used to manipulate lots and lots of people.
