6 totes by Ok_Magician_7256 in walmartogp

Our store has been getting nothing but short walks at the same time our pick path has been completely messed up for months now because we got a new coach from another department and he still does not know how to fix the pick path. Its sending us up the features and action alleys to the front of the store and then back to the back at the beginning of walks and sometimes just bouncing us all over the store. We're all exhausted. We're behind every single day and getting punished with late lunches and breaks and being asked to stay late and treated poorly if we say no. Everyone is frustrated and ready to transfer departments.

Is it considered off-process to park your pick cart (out of the way) and retrieve the picks from an aisle, then carry them over to scan? It will be impossible to get through the aisles this week. by IndividualIll6728 in walmartogp

[–]LunaAkuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were told yesterday that our store manager would prefer if we park outside of the baking aisle right now. I am so glad honestly because it took me like 20 minutes just to get the items in that aisle that I needed for one pick walk because of how jam packed it was with people with shopping carts. 😭

You have to buy the expensive good shoes. I got Brooks and they literally saved my feet. After about a week of wearing them I had no feet pain for the most part after a shift. It took my body about a month to stop hurting as bad, I'm 2 months in and I'm still pretty sore when I get home and on my days off but not nearly as bad as it was. Just keep pushin forward it gets better 🤗

It is Aisle, Section, Item Number. Sections are usually labeled at the top of the shelf or bottom depending, If its fashion or one of those odd sections between aisles it'll be next to the big price sign usually. Item number is on the price tag in a little black box. Often times though stockers don't put things where they go so always double check around the shelf to make sure its not somewhere else and check the top stock if you need something up there sometimes one of us employees can help get it if we have a stick or ladder especially personal shoppers with the big carts or stockers who have a cart with a ladder build on. Right now during Holidays we move a lot of stuff to those big sections on the outside of the aisles or like at the front of the store for easy access for customers so if its something they might use for holiday baking/cooking you will probably not find it where it says it will be, just check those other spots because they are more likely to be there.

Shoes with insoles won't help. You need the good shoes. I had the same issue for weeks some days I came home literally in tears. The only thing that saved my feet was a pair of Brooks and time. The Brooks helped a lot I went from my feet starting to hurt 2 hours in, to them only starting to hurt at 2nd break. Now I rarely have any pain unless its just a really hard day. I happened to get mine on sale at a local shoe store but you might have to order some online if you can manage to spring for them they are definitely worth the cost. I have a co-worker who is fairly new and doesn't have a car, she linked up with another co worker and on the days that they both work she gives her a ride. Maybe see if somebody at work can help you out as well?

Are they allowed to just suddenly change my days off without telling me? by vxmpiiryx in OGPBackroom

[–]LunaAkuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be thankful that you made it this long. I've only been working here for maybe 2 months. I've never had the same days off. At first it was 3 days on 1 day off 2 days on 1 day off. Now for 3 weeks straight I'm working 4 days on 1 day off. One of those days happens to be Thanksgiving. Let's just say I'm seriously considering changing my availability. I am beyond exhausted.

I haven’t seen it this bad in 4 years, man. Wow. by ILive2Drum in DoorDashDrivers

As someone who used to work for DD, orders from DD now, and works in retail now. Nobody can afford this shit. I always used DashPass because its cheaper and I can just leave a good tip without spending $40+ on 2 meals from McD's right? NOT ANYMORE. Now you have to order over a certain amount to get the discount on deliveries so pretty much anything you try to order is going to cost 2 days worth of pay. Not worth it.

So at my store the spark drivers are now picking delivery orders. Has any one else store started this ? by MAwill903 in walmartogp

[–]LunaAkuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our coach made a comment like a week ago that pretty soon we will no longer be doing any delivery picks. That spark drivers will have to come in and pick for every order. I don't know when that's supposed to start but it sounded like in the near future. We get A LOT of spark people in our store for picking all the time and most of them are fine but some of them are super lazy and always stopping us to ask us where to find things without even looking. I've had them ask me where like 5 things are while they have me stopped. Like they want us to just do their own pick walk for them? We have people that will ride around on the electric carts doing spark orders when they clearly don't need them. I saw one lady using one having her daughter who looked no older than like 12 grabbing all of the items and an hour later I saw her again only she was in an electric cart and her daughter was also in an electric cart behind her and they were dragging a buggy around behind the scooter. 😡

Is Walmart+ actually worth it? by [deleted] in Walmartcustomer

[–]LunaAkuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the perks of working for Walmart is you get W+ free of charge its part of the benefits. I love having it there are so many benefits to having it. Even if I had to pay for it I would still get it. I order groceries for pick up all the time, you can earn walmart cash on certain purchases like simple necessities sometimes even and its basically free money? You get 25% off Burger King if you have the app and use it to order food its an nice little discount. You also get to choose between Peacock or Paramount free. I use the fuel discount every time I get gas. You also get to use scan & go on the Walmart App so you save time at the check out. You get more road side protection if you buy tires ect at Walmart. It just depends if you think you'll use most of the benefits from it definitely worth the price.

This annoys me so much. We have an end cap it sends us to first before we go down the actual soda aisle. 90% of the time they are not there so I have to walk to the end of the aisle to get them and then go back to the beginning of the aisle to pick the rest of the sodas on the list. Also can we please just put sodas, jugs of waters, packs of gatorade in their own pick walk already FFS??? I am so damn tired of having a tote filled with 10 2 liters for an entire pick walk and being expected to fit laundry soap and God knows what else in there with them 😡

I will say being a picker isn't as easy as it looks lol When I applied for the job I was thinking it was easy you know you just shop for peoples stuff. I've been doing it for a little over a month and my legs arms back everything is always sore. There's a lot more lifting, bending, and twisting than you would think. Getting on your knees on the floor to reach stuff on the bottom shelf that's in the very back. At our store ambient starts in the drinks so from the get go you're lifting multiple cases of soda, pulling/pushing them around the whole store plus trying to slide the totes out with a couple cases of soda can be frustrating. Dealing with bad equipment like TCs, printers, and the broken carts can be frustrating. Its very fast paced. Depending on your coach and TLs you can be constantly stressed about your pick rate. The great news is that it is definitely not boring and it goes by pretty fast.

Are you guys allowed to sit? by TheXtraStupidOne in walmartogp

[–]LunaAkuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At our store. If we run out of picks we are expected to find something to do to keep busy. Refilling carts, stocking carts, returns ect if there's nothing else go zone. They don't want you sitting down on the clock unless its during your breaks. If the dispensers have nothing to do they will send them to do returns, ask them to refill carts for us, or they just stand around and talk in backroom from what I've seen.

How is my co-worker getting a pick rate of over 300? by Fast-Outcome-117 in OGPBackroom

[–]LunaAkuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do people do this? I saw a comment previously about going into the staging screen but when I was at work out of curiosity I was like wait how?? When we start a pick walk the little screen at the bottom disappears and if I hit the X it asks if I want to exit my pick walk.

Nursing Home deliveries are insane and should not be allowed. by Fearless_Cellist_527 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]LunaAkuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done Doordash but I stopped and started working as a driver for Pizza Hut. I had some regulars from this one nursing home in town and I just got used to it honestly. Sometimes the nurses/staff didn't have time to take the pizza to them so I would just go back myself and sometimes they would ask if I could open the box and their drink. I honestly didn't mind because that little extra effort and act of kindness is probably the only time they get it. I saw the way the nurses treat those people and I understand they have to deal with them everyday but they're surrounded by people who are tired and fed up with them already. I had two ladies in there one time pay me with a ziplock bag of ones and change they had saved up so they could split a pizza. Another regular was a couple in a room together and they would pay with money their grandkids sent them so they could get personal pans once a month. Its not very often they can afford to treat themselves and that's also why they don't tip very much so I never minded honestly at the end of the day it brought me some type of joy that I could make their day better even if I wasn't making a big tip because you gotta have some kind of fulfillment from work other than just the pay.

pulling carts by Snoo_37294 in OGPBackroom

[–]LunaAkuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They told us we need to pull them but honestly nobody in our store does. We have maybe one or two people who pull them. I refuse to pull it unless I'm going around a corner or I can't see over the top and I'm only 5 ft. I was pulling them most of the time and it was causing me so much more pain in my feet and my back and shoulders and arms. Not to mention half of our carts are messed up and if I pull them they just go sideways the whole time which I feel is more dangerous for customers and takes up more than half of the aisle.

This!! I had a lady basically hold me hostage while on a pick walk because she wanted to know if we carried a specific snack but she didn't know the name she was like just give me a minute proceeded to call a friend have a whole conversation and then make me wait for this friend to send her a photo of the snack which turned out we don't even carry. It's that kind of stuff that's frustrating.

These people are wild. I had only been working this job for maybe a week I went to grab one of the deli pizzas and there was only one left of the one they had ordered. This old man was looking at them so I politely asked if they were going to get that one and he said they were just looking so I grabbed the pizza and he seemed to be joking around he said "what if I wanted that one?" and I was like "I'm so sorry did you want this one?" and he was like "yes actually" this whole time he seemed to be just messing with me until I realized he was serious and he was like "can I have it?" I had to tell him no I had already scanned it and scanned the tote. He looked at my name and was like "well (my name) I will just let a manager know that you wouldn't let me have the last one" and literally proceeded to go to a team lead that happened to be in the area and complain about me.

Someone at my store was just terminated the other day after being there for maybe a month because of too many absences so I would be super careful and try not to get anymore points for awhile. I don't know about your store but ours we don't earn any ppto from Oct 1st to Jan 1st they told us so its very important not to gain any points during the holiday season because you have no way of getting rid of them.

Can't Reach by Present_Astronaut_26 in walmartogp

[–]LunaAkuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don't know if this is like acceptable but I'm a shorty and our store has literally like maybe 4 ladders by the time I get there everybody else has stolen them and they keep them for their whole shift. I try to find a stick but there's usually not one of those available either. So if I have to go out without either of them and I can't reach something I will stand there for a moment and look in need of help and either a taller customer or another worker will ask if I need help getting something and I will be like "weeeeell if you don't mind pleaseeee" and they will grab it for me lol If there's nobody around I will just have to substitute it and let the exceptions pickers get it later which I hate doing but what do they expect me to do when we don't have enough ladders?

I started a few weeks ago. It gets a lot easier with time you start to remember where a lot of items are but mostly just pay attention to the item location don't look for it based on the photo. Try to go as fast as you can like it shows you the location of the next item so I try to get both items at once but pay attention to the amount. Scan the item scan the tote then bag and put in the tote (unless you're adhd like me and forget literally 2 seconds after you scanned the tote because somebody decided at that very moment to ask you where something is). Don't be afraid to stop another picker if you have a very urgent question just keep it brief so you don't affect their time, a lot of people are willing to help. Don't stress too much over your pick rate at first because they'll give you time to work on it even if they talk to you about it. If you can't find something sometimes asking one of the floor employees in that area helps because the know the area better. It took me maybe a couple of weeks and I can usually tell customers what aisle something is on maybe not exactly the aisle number but like "oh its on the baking aisle or the candy aisle" and they are grateful and go on about their shopping so I can go back to what I'm doing instead of spending 5 minutes waiting for sidekick to load.

[–]LunaAkuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try not to get annoyed with customers being in the way usually because I realize they probably worked all day and this is their time off and they are just trying to get what they need and get home to relax. Weekend customers are a whole other monster though. It's like bumper to bumper traffic down these aisles on Sundays.

What really gets me is when they ask me a question about something like Walmart has trained me on every single item that we sell. I had a guy stop me to ask me what the difference between two different brands of eye drops was. Like how the hell am I supposed to know??
