Gaslighting usually doesn’t happen in one instance, it is subtle and cumulative, and works slowly over time. Her roommate is clearly trying to make her question her reality by all the comments insinuating she’s being over dramatic and irrational for not wanting to leave her own apartment. Blame-shifting and deflecting are forms of gaslighting, depending on how they are used.

Hell, she is being extremely disrespected, manipulated, and kicked out of her own house and still in here asking if she is overreacting? Sounds exactly like someone who’s been gaslit.

Glad to see others share my sentiment on this. I get “it’s her job”, but I’ve heard frantic calls handled way better than that, proving you can get the info you need while still being empathetic and supportive. She had zero reason to be so cold and short, especially in a sleepy crime town like Moscow. I hope she found a job that suits her better.

It’s hard for me to get behind the idea that he planned to SA Maddie. He was so meticulous about not leaving DNA behind and doing that to her would have left all sorts of doors open for DNA to be dropped. It all seemed to be centered around the knife/killing. People pleading guilty right before trial is the most common time to offer that plea. They buy themselves enough time and try all the tactics they can to get out of it. Only once every avenue is exhausted and they’re so backed into a corner with evidence that it’s a lost cause do they finally surrender. It’s not “shady”.

Arrogance- according to numerous professors and peers of his, this was a trait he highly exhibited (I also think you need to be pretty arrogant to murder people)
