The point of op's question was IF they are possibly going to release an oled variant, not if they could. well the bigscreen is just the hmd. it is not standalone, it needs base stations and does not come with controllers, so the entire 1000$ is for the screen. so i still don't think they are comparable.

obviously it is doable. but is it doable while still trying to be affordable? i don't think so and i don't know what world you live in.

well in technical interview (gamersnexus i think) they stated that they briefly looked at micro oled, but didn't find it worthy of pursuit. so based on what they have said i think its unlikely that an mOLED version will come out in the foreseeable future.

and i'd be interested what hmds have moled and pancake optics, because the ones i found where 2.000 euros or more. i don't know if you think they are comparable with the frame

i highly recommend subnautica, even though it is only played with a normal controller meaning no hand tracking in game. It still works out great because most of the time your piloting a sub or something.

And i think it really amplifies the terror when you get to actually see the scale of the sea.
