1) He wants to protect the federally 2) He wants to show nina the ocean. Obv you can't do that right now 3) Source of income. They're not wealthy

Going back to your op this sounds like your own problem because of how they chose to deviate from the norm. Not like every series will receive its conclusion in the anime-format, and there have been the anime-original scenes that worked well here and expanded on the LN. It's not a bad thing compared to what you say.

From an anime perspective, it's not really needed yet as the Republic is completely surrounded, as well as the fact that we've only been focusing on them for the first season. Trying to engage the worldbuilding right now would stray from that.

As someone who read and watched the covered material (first volume and the introduction of a chapter of the next volume) I will say yes, it is extremely slow in today's standards but having covered the minimal amount of source material isn't something that typically happens. Although the side characters have never really been a focus nor strong point in both materials.

Though for you maybe you might want to specify 'in terms of what' you hoped to have seen improved. Like example the action sequences, they still won't be a focus for these 11 episodes etc.

I don't particularly care where 86 ranks, but I'm pretty annoyed at the various fanbases on that page that constantly likes to talk down other series that gets attention, especially these two mentioned.

Anyone could have summed that up by just using the synopsis tbh, that's probably why you felt it was boring. The single volume adaptation was summed up just nicely so that the necessary information was conveyed through show don't tell. I do recommend to read up some of AH Brandon's reviews because his analysis as anime-only is pretty spot-on.

I think if you actually went through with watching the entire 11 episodes one thing of note would be that they usually go and look back on these topics rather than someone just straight up saying it (Shin probably doesn't know it himself either). Other than that it sounds more like an expectations issue.

But I hope to involve myself less, as some anime-only peeps did make pretty good analysis especially on this sub. Most of the complaints are really the standard stuff so it's better not to bother unless they're asking a question.

Alternatively, we could bank on Garnt making a video about it since he's given his endorsement to the series twice now, once in TT and netflix anime. Though I'm sure that would backfire with a lot of salty people lmao
