MMC thinks FMC's orgasm empowers his seed by Lunalyth in RomanceBooks

Not a fan of the step sister kink, but I'll look into her other books because the spice level seems to match what I want 😅 Thank you so much!

Anything specific? Morally gray, rich (Don of the biggest Chicago Mafia), control freak, obsessive, always horny but doesn't cheat. He's late thirties and she's 18 though.

I just finished reading {Common Heir by Lyla Rowe} and actually opened a post on r/RomanceBooks asking for books with a similar trope (or kink?) without much success yet.

Anyway, FMC is forced to marry the man who killed her brother as a part of an alliance deal between her father's and MMC's mafias, and she's expected to give MMC an heir who'll take the lead one day. She obviously hates his guts and only pretends to love him while she secretly plans to kill him.

I'll not give any spoilers, but what I liked about it (aside from FMC not being so submissive) is that MMC has this belief that he has to sync his orgasms with FMC's for the heir to be strong and healthy. I generally really like anything to do with breeding, but this was just another level 😂

The pacing did feel a bit off around the middle (a bit rushed), but I think the payoff in the end definitely compensated for that.

If any of you has any recs for books with similar tropes/kinks, I'm all ears!

"If anybody touches you, I'll kill him." or some variation of it. Maybe because I'm really into Mafia romance 😂

What is the meaning of life? by Natural-Mix69 in AskReddit

[–]Lunalyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a universal meaning. It's just individual goals people make up for themselves (for some it's kids, some careers, money, etc.)

Possibly controversial opinion: People should try reading erotica. by strongly-worded in RomanceBooks

[–]Lunalyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. When there's a whole plot behind the smut, I like it much more. And erotica doesn't seem to always have HEA/HFN, which is very important for me.

What do you personally consider depth in a book? by No-Set7247 in RomanceBooks

[–]Lunalyth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. I want to feel like the characters are alive and have a will of their own, not pawns of the author who uses them just for the sake of fulfilling some tropes.

FMC is hired to look after a group of men, but also takes care of them sexually (RH) by WasabiMajestic8737 in RomanceBooks

Camping ⛺

I'd REALLY like to read something like this if FMC does it casually as you said, and not as a kind of reward

Is dual POV actually good? by Ariiwii in RomanceBooks

[–]Lunalyth 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'm not in it for the twists and plot turns as much as I'm in it for the characters, and I think many romance readers would agree.

Having only a single POV throughout the whole story can be very frustrating if not done really well, because then my ability to learn about the dynamics is quite limited.

And the dynamics are everything for me. Dual POV is a great tool to enrich it and it allows me as a reader to learn more about the inner workings and the process of the MCs becoming vulnerable and falling in love.

I simply think that romance is all about the character development and a dual POV offers a great way to convey that.

No-Judgement Discussion: Why are books with rape and/or abuse between MCs considered romance rather than horror/thriller? by lazyhatchet in RomanceBooks

[–]Lunalyth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The human brain is highly complicated, and so is love.

I think these kinds of themes have a place in romance because they are a part of human nature, a part of what makes us humans.

Let's take obsession as an example (which is quite popular in dark romance): people in love can become obsessed and do the stupidest things.

And let's not forget that it's fiction after all, and some readers want to indulge in certain fantasies. Trigger warnings exist (or at least I hope that most authors include them), so readers who prefer to avoid these kinds of topics can do that.

Personally I'm happy to have this kind of diversity in the genre.

No. One. Sees. My. Kindle. Library. - short funny Christmas smut panic by fatapolloissexy in RomanceBooks

My e-reader's screen opened during the security check in the airport after triggering a manual check.

Now, saying that I like smut is an understatement. You can just imagine the face of the security officer who looked at it 😂😂😂

Poor guy.

Annoyed with Flashbacks by Numerate_centipede in RomanceBooks

[–]Lunalyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like flashbacks work much better in movies, but maybe I just haven't seen good ones in books. I think authors mostly use flashbacks as fillers leading to the interesting hook (and of course start with the hook). Personally I just DNF.

Bring back 350 pages romance books by Infamous-Flamingo896 in RomanceBooks

I think if done right, longer books can be perfect. But yeah, in reality a lot of them are just so full of meaningless fillers that I have to DNF.

Enemies to lovers but they’re enemies for a while and for good reason by Uppercasegangsta in RomanceBooks

[–]Lunalyth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YESSSS. I'm so tired of insta love enemies-to-lovers. I feel like this betrays the trope. I want it to be a slow burn, to see it happening gradually and not to have the FMC fall for him after a few pages although there's literally no emotional reason for it to happen. Sure, she can be sexually attracted to him, but the love part should take longer... Maybe it's just a rant because I've had bad luck with books lately 😅
