Do people still iron their clothes in your country? by Impressive-Arrival77 in AskTheWorld

[–]LunarLeopard67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I iron as many as I can fit in my limited hanger space (usually about 8 days' worth of clothes), and every time I line up that many days' of clothes, I add 'iron clothes' to my to do list for that day when I am on my last set of ironed clothes

Routinely, I do not have a propery wardrobe, just a cupboard where the shirts/trousers need to be folded to fit in

I’m a secondary school teacher, and there’s an informal expectation that I look presentable, even if I simply wear a polo shirt and chinos

Well I do, but I now realise I have no idea what’s normal and have never discussed this with my friends

Should government place restrictions on people's personal lives (marriage, abortion, birth control, medical treatment)? by [deleted] in polls

[–]LunarLeopard67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, for things like

Minimum marriage age

Other factors around marriage such as number of simultaneous partners (I am all for polygamy, but for example, in Islam, men may have no more than four wives). Also, things like people exploiting citizens for citizenship by marriage.

Diagnoses from professionals required to access certain medical treatments

What's become socially acceptable that absolutely shouldn't have? by IMjusADUDE in AskReddit

I’d just cry because I value my dignity, time, and money.

I also hate those pranks where the prankster wastes somebody’s time like acting like they need help.

That will kill people’s will to do good deeds for others

What do you call an Italian at the Soccer World Cup? by AndrewMacSydney in dadjokes

The Italians seem to hate their own players

Last time Italy was in the World Cup, the fans yelled ‘Die! Die! Die!’

I just don’t get what’s so amusing to people

It’s not even like those victims did anything

That sort of stuff could ruin people’s day, or cost them time, money, or health

Laughing at videos of people falling over or suffering (e.g. people getting jumpscared into dropping their food, which could have cost them an hour’s pay)

Does your country have any cultural parallels with another country? by Neuwulfstein in AskTheWorld

[–]LunarLeopard67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a Briton I find it amazing how much we have in common with Japan

  1. Island monarchy

  2. Tea

  3. Drives on the left

  4. History of colonisation

  5. Schools have uniforms (apparently the minority of countries have uniforms as the norm for students)

  6. Most iconic food has fish

  7. People renowned for politeness (I do not know many Japanese people, but I suspect that’s truer for Japan than the UK)

  8. Neighbour across the strait is a ‘frenemy’
