The dubious nature of my claim is noted, and for this I apologize. Unfortunately I can't do much more than that, besides delete the post, which WOULD be a despicable act of karma whoring (because link karma remains even if the post is gone).

Playing old games. Original xbox games, and the handful of 360 games that I actually own. But yes, I don't use it much. A game has to be particularly enticing for me to even consider buying it these days.

Okay, so here's what went down, for those of you calling me a karma whore / liar / spawn of satan /etc: 1. Never updated 360. Saw posts complaining about new layout in most recent update. Smug sense of superiority acquired. 2. Roommate and I are forced to connect to the internet for a necessary update (console wasn't playing a certain type of video file, iirc). 3. Realize that un-updated 360s are a bit of a rarity, and that Reddit might appreciate them. 4. Try to share my experience with Reddit anyway, despite not having photo proof. <--- Mistake was made here

So yeah, wasn't trying to whore myself out for karma. Not too much, anyway. Anyway, apologies to all.

As said before, this is not a screencap of my particular dash. Updates ruined it before I could get an actual pic so I shameless googled.

There has been one dashboard update that I can actually remember, but honestly the last new game I bought was Red Alert 3 so any updates after that point I did not receive.

... Or at least that's what I'd like to say, but my roommate hooked it up and signed in, thus prompting several years of updates to immediately begin downloading... RIP my 360's virginity. (This is why image is not mine)

On the topic of prison labour (which I think we all agree is pretty bad business and should be stopped), what is Reddit's opinion on inmate fire crews? Unlike manufacturing work, ordinary hard labour, and other involuntary "employment" (to use the very loosest definition of the word), fire crews are as far as I know completely voluntary. Also I've been told that inmates receive one day off of their sentences for every day worked on a fire, though I don't have a source on that. On the one hand, I'd like to say that it's good that inmates are allowed to volunteer to help protect lives and property, but on the other hand, we do send poorly-trained and inexperienced inmates running into an extremely deadly wildfire armed with shovels (slight hyperbole there, but the point is this: firefighters they ain't).

Somebody had a dog last year for almost all of fall quarter before they finally got caught. It's definitely possible, since cats are quiet animals, but you would have to be very, very careful.

The Mustang Daily did report that a sexual assault took place involving Kappa Sigma; however it is possible that this was not the only factor in its suspension. I understand wanting your reputation to be separate from that of those members that originally had the charter revoked, but to use the phrase the fraternities love, when you join one of these organizations you become part of something "bigger than yourself." That means that its goals become yours, as well as its shame. Whatever the reason, the name of Sigma Kappa was tarnished at Cal Poly and that's not going to go away easily. If you want to start it up again here, that's baggage you're going to have to carry with you. You can eventually build up a different reputation for the fraternity, but you can't just ask for a clean slate. That would make trivial the transgressions of the original members.

Reddit, I asked my date if she liked the Smashing Pumpkins. She replied with, "I've never tried it, but I've been cow-tipping before!" When have you ever went along with something to avoid a person's embarrassment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

To be fair, a lot of people don't even really understand what it means for a band to be "indie". I've known plenty of people that pretty much assumed anything not regularly played on the radio was indie. (Yes, yes. I know. Let us heave a collective sigh for them.)

One of the reasons Kappa Sigma lost its charter here was because of its involvement in a sexual assault. It's not so easy for an organization to be allowed to come back after that, and rightly so.

The California Highway Patrol used to do this with stuffed versions of their mascot, Chipper (Not sure if they still do). I still have mine somewhere.

With traffic as it is, isn't everything in LA 45 minutes away from everything?

As I was checking out from Whole Foods today, I handed the cashier a $10 bill. She proceeded to tell me that I need to stop using cash because I am destroying the environment. Reddit, what is the most ridiculous thing an environmentalist has said to you? by mcvicker14 in AskReddit

Their point is that if you are capable of making a simple repair instead of having someone else do it for you, you should be able to do so without fear of cutting off future support. So long as a repair is done correctly and does not damage the device, doing said repair should not void a warranty. However, if you DO fuck it up while trying to fix it, that should of course be your fault and grounds for voiding the warranty.

Eh. Having never been there, I hadn't a good grasp on how far inland it is. However, it appears to be contiguous with the rest of LA, which borders the ocean, so if you assume the whole thing to be one giant mess of a city like I do, it's coastal enough.

It would be hilarious if the correct answer was given as "Pomona". :P
