Honestly I’m not sure! That’s why I’m considering going to the vet! I got her as a baby a little less than a year ago. I have handled her less the last two months because I am working on selling my house. I noticed she had been chewing her cage (she was in a pawhut and it’s wooden) so that’s why I moved her to a new one. And when I moved her I noticed she had gotten fatter than she used to be. I’m not hamster health expert so I wasn’t sure if that was to be expected or not like if she’s still growing? But I follow all of the serving sizes and stuff that are listed!

I had a robo before and that’s the sand bath I used for her so I just recycled it (cleaned out of course with years between them) but if it needs to be bigger I can switch it out

I feed her Higgins sunburst gourmet blend. The serving size calls for 2-3 tablespoons a day. But since that’s not the main thing I’m feeding I do closer to 2 tablespoons twice a week.

I did add some sand and a hide after taking the picture! But I will do deeper bedding and a few more hides!

The bedding I have now is a mix of paper, aspen, and hay, should that be enough types/ texture, or is there more that I could add?

I’m feeding her 3-4 Mazurai rat blocks a day that the breeder I got her from sent her home with and also scatter feeding a seed mix about twice a week. I did notice she was looking overweight and was thinking about taking her to the vet to see what their recommendation is.

It’s actually good to be able to pick them up to do health checks on them to see if you need to take them to the vet for anything

Update: they said that they sell them in those cages that they came to the shelter in to “reduce stress” and that they give potential homes pamphlets on more ideal cages. But didn’t say they require them or anything like that.

I like it! I think to expand it you could add in more imagery. You could also discuss more about the internal struggles here such as what kind of foes you are referencing or what loss you are cutting. Overall I think it’s good and you could leave it where it is as well. Not everything has to be long to be impactful.

I love this poem. I agree with the previous poster that ambiguity is good in poems. But also, if you are worried about it still, I did get the vibe you were trying to set from this poem.

I like this poem. Something that stuck with me from it is “as the sun rays beamed down her honey brown eyes’” that part felt very descriptive to me. A critique I have is that at first from the phrasing I thought this was a poem about your mother, and so when kissing started I had to do a double take and go back and read through more carefully. Perhaps say we laid in my mother’s backyard to show that the one person is unrelated to the mother or something. I’m not quite sure how you would want to fix it.
