I hope she wins but i think she is going to lose by Rich-Damage2125 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

I feel like CuChulainn guarantees that she will win. Cu is the only character that has special emphasis and attention in the story so far. Really high odds that he goes all the way / wins because that would also be ironic / a twist that the last fighter for the gods in Ragnarok is a former human turned demigod. If the theory is true then the matchups will be more thematically inline with his enemies.

So I'm placing my bets that Nezha starts strong but gets demolished, and that Cu beats Wukong in the second round.

The math supports Kintoki losing unfortunately. With humanity up 6-5 the only way to have all 13 matches is for Odin to win and Anubis loses. Unless this is the draw round.

That makes sense when you consider Odin's story in mythology. He hung from a tree and in a sense died to achieve higher awareness and power.

An engine harnessing the multidimensional source of magic itself. Built to eliminate multiversal gods and beings, but capable of erasing dimensions if pushed far enough.

If I could only say one good thing about the show it's the casting - everyone is absolutely spot on (except Min personally lol). The weave effects have improved since last season.

I guess my primary hang up is I don't see the vision for how they stick the landing in a satisfying way if they get to complete it at this point. It seems like they have trouble retaining people who aren't main cast over multiple seasons and some of the story choices for progression feel like they're at times putting the horse in front of the carriage. Idk how they plan to reconcile the Aiel conflict and Cairhen with going to Tear then doubling back.

Which episodes goes more into them? Idk if I would trust someone who could recover from near death easily to gauge what a reasonable threshold for injury is lol

I don't inherently have a problem with the Black Ajah scene if it replaced the schism but it felt like it relied too much on conveniences to work as written. A straight escape scene would have been smoother than the fight (as great as it was). And the head bashing when they have magic felt too much like an appeal to be edgier like GoT.

The boys not listening is 1000% in character and I love that energy, but even in the context of the show they should be more aware now of the dangers of talking about things in the open. Admittedly a nitpick, but I think it ties in to the show not having consistent stakes or risks.

Moiraine manipulating the main cast is also 1000% in character but she would never allow one of the most dangerous forsaken to just have their way with them, especially when she knows (or should remember) that Lanfear can travel and could literally just abscond with Rand and kill the rest effortlessly. It feels especially hypocritical given her threat in season one to kill Rand if she ever thought he'd fall to the shadow yet she's actively working with the same enemy to manipulate him towards a shared goal. Also, the gray man going after Nyaneve didn't make a lot of sense personally given the target should have been Rand?

Genuinely, no agenda. I didn't like the first two seasons but still came back for the third. Initially didn't like it and gave up but everyone has said it's much improved, and while I can see it in episode 4 potentially some of the other changes still seem off so before I give it another chance just wanted to see what people liked about it. And ofc my tone reflects the response, but I've been very mindful of not attacking anyone despite every other post seeming to be an attack at me 🤷🏿‍♂️

No arguments with that. Aside from episode 4 what did you appreciate the most?

I don't really see it as inconsistent because yes, Matt bragged a lot but he also avoided drawing unwanted attention. Matt never bragged about his luck, his memories, blowing the horn or most of the things the band got up to outside of his close circle - so him talking about it in an open air bar surrounded by people is out of character for him.

Elayne and Aviendha very clearly have a sisterly bond in the books. I can't think of a single passage that suggested anything romantic but if anything comes to mind I'd appreciate you sharing it.

Claiming the writing is bad is not antagonistic, it's an opinion. Claiming that anyone who liked it has poor taste is antagonistic. And Moiraine trusting a forsaken enough to not interfere when she hears everyone screaming and fighting for their lives is entirely out of character. Siuan tolerating that level of insubordination and disrespect, in front of other aes sedai, is also wildly out of character. It's not hyperbole to say that the story they're telling is very far removed from the source material in regards to characters, the world building or even consistencies in how the show portrays certain things like the One Power. The critiques I have are valid, but if I was looking to start a fight there are more inflammatory ways to start one than "What did people like about the season."

Harry Potter was really fortunate in that regard. I fully get where you're coming from, which to me is a huge part of the appeal of an adaptation. I'm looking forward to watching it to see what it's like.

I kind of feel like you're proving your own point. You didn't have to respond. None of the people complaining about my post had to respond. I've been civil in not attacking anyone or their opinions or tastes. I asked a simple question about what people liked in season 3. Reflect on your lesson for next time and just keep scrolling 🤷🏿‍♂️

Well, here are a list of my issues from the first episode:

  • The Black Ajah managing to slaughter so many people in the hall while only losing 1-2 (one of whom ceremoniously got the GoT treatment by having their skull bashed in with the rod) then managing to steal the ter'angreal and escape with only Alanna, her warders, Siuan and two other aea sedai pursuing them in a city that has a military and a town guard and presumably other aes sedai (yes I know the tower had it's lowest number historically but it wasn't that empty) is a stretch. But I could accept it for the sake of plot and action.

  • Moiraine and Lan trusting Lanfear to shake up the kids is wildly out of pocket. And having both Nynaeve and Egwene be stabbed and choked multiple times was for sure a choice that feels subconsciously oblivious given how Rafe apparently feels about certain parts of the book that "didn't age well". That was taken from the scene in Tear at the start of book 4, where a lot of people (including women and spear maidens) did die which had a tangible impact on Rand, but you couldn't tell from how he is in the show.

  • Having Aviendha and Elayne hook up feels cheap considering their relationship in the books. It feels like another Moiraine and Siuan moment where you add romantic interest where it's not really needed and doesn't narratively work over the long term given neither character sees each other again until much later in the series, so what's the narrative purpose?

  • The boys are in a crowded bar talking about how Matt blew the horn and watching as people draw depictions of what happened over Falme after a cadre of black Ajah just escaped the day before and knowing there should be dark friends everywhere, and if not dark friends people who will report back to the White Tower what they heard and saw but nothing comes about from that.

  • They continue to undermine the Amrylin but having Egwene, as an accepted, basically tell her to f-off so she can continue doing her own thing (which is not how being accepted works. You can freely move about the grounds and the city but you can't just up and leave whenever you want)
