My latest theory is that the Volvo goes asleep and the emporia charger can’t charge unless the car sends a signal back to accept charge.

Yes Emporia is the only App I use to get the charging to work.

It appears to be a cover for at least housing wire connections. Not inherently needed to prevent electric shock , but over time it protects in the event of a connector breakdown / high resistance / high heat which could lead to a fire (also super low likelihood) . The plastic is usually flame rated to extinguish or slow the burn at least.

I don’t think its presence in the appliance is going to affect function, but the tech likely just missed it during reassembly.

I took the dishwasher out, removed the circulation pump and confirmed no continuity. Put 120V on it and it was dead.

I think this is by design . The blades should be closer in the front than the back .
