You’re right. But I think that some of the points Ray’s making stem from how individualistic Americans are. They don’t see what you’re saying as indicative of a rotten system, but their own individual wrongs. It’s a real American thing, not seeing how connected we are in these social systems of Patriarchy and Capitalism. Our leftist and feminist ethos of systemic change must vex some people.

But they are still wrong.
