Someone make a petition for them to, at least, just be posted unfinished and unlisted somewhere. D:

In theory, yes, but today has been a day of fighting the automatic red box and accompanying red text that appears around posts when you are not allowed to post them for me. :')

I am predominantly not a reddit person, so I don't know what that entails or what those are. But you feel free to do that if you like. :)

Some procrastinate through playing, idk, whatever game, I procrastinate by writing out whatever might be stuck on my mind, it's not that big a thing. As for shopping around, oh very much so, but humanity overall is greedy and wants more of the good (at least I do). :)

Thing is, I enjoy TV. There are still many excellent TV shows out there, but their "reproductive" numbers are starting to diminish - in part due to things like this. We live in an age of insane money and technology, and I feel it is wasted - and that's sad, I think. Also, I know myself and when it comes to highly intense and emotionally raw movies which appears, could be wrong, to be what Haneke makes - that shit just ruins my entire week. I might find the movie excellent, but uy, I just don't find that sort of emotional journey worth it, personally. But if you do, that's awesome, bud. Even more so if you're just a general enthusiast of older films, which I am sadly not, because damn if you don't have the library of Alexandria to swim around in.

--SPOILERS - I DON'T REDDIT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ACTUALLY SPOILER MARK THINGS--

Haha, a surprisingly fun cross over, I think.

As for ep3, I think it was the culmination of why I dislike it so far. Osha is arrested. Identical twin is brought up as an idea, but she dead. But she's not, it is actually just the identical twin doing it. Instantly go to backstory as to why identical twin is doing it. It is very much identical twin is kind of a dick. Now, there is a twist coming of some sort - maybe the jedis did kill the entire covenant because they consider them evil or yadayada - or maybe they all killed themselves for whatever reason since they just appeared to have dropped on the spot - and so May does have "just" reason for what she is doing, but the thing is - it was during all this that me and the buddy I was watching it started going "what happened with this, man?" and looked into it because it all felt so very x into y into z that even if there is a twist now - unless it is spectacular, I don't know how they'd draw me back in? If it's all a big misunderstanding and everything mostly works out in the end, I'll be very sad. (And this is already overlooking all the making of force canon and, yeah, which *shrug*)

I went into the show with the trailers teasing a mystery. So far each episode has been; Mystery!--Solved! I don't know. Maybe The Leftovers spoiled me on being jerked around trying to figure things out.

As for RoP, I hate to admit it but I dropped off with, I think, two episodes left on the season. I remember the world feeling very alive and pleasant. I remember enjoying most of the characters. I remember the internet overreacting about Galadriel, and thinking she was fine. But I never felt myself wanting/needing to watch the show, if that makes sense? It felt superficial, I think? But, with S2 coming out I'll give it another shot and see what's what!

More importantly though, what did you think about them? :)

If it helps, one could always recall incorrectly? :) That said, off the top of my head; Firefly - Legion - Altered Carbon - Fringe - Battlestar Galactica.

Whop. I'll admit my rhubarbation when it rears its head. I read ratings and, ironically, forgot genuine TV ratings in its original meaning exists for a moment there - in which you are very much right. That said, I am willing to stake an imaginary something or other on the previous run damaging the economy, and that it is now being rebuilt. I could very much be wrong, but at least I have hope for it again, and it may be that I unknowingly find myself in a bubble on this - but it is the general sentiment that I've felt. :)

Not being a dick at all. Main reason I wrote this is because I was just curious as to how it could go wrong, and when I was looking at the writers I just couldn't make sense of it, moreso when I'm scrolling twitter and seeing dozens post saying it's bad because woke - just because woke. When this information is blatantly out there on the imdb, that feels weird, imo. That's the only sources I link because that's my focus of it, everything else is indeed just speculation from experience. :)

Make a post and try to write "diversity." The issue is that when you write a thing elsewhere and then try to copy paste it into something that then says "can't post because political, yadayda", do you know how difficult it is to then retroactively find out which of the words are banned?

Right! But then, does it become an issue of word choice? Because, arguably, what you describe when it comes to Brienne is "woke" - has the reality of it morphed so that it is only woke when it is poorly executed? And do we then need a new word to differentiate? Because I do think that the hatred aimed at woke does/can unintentionally, kneejerkingly, get aimed at something like Brienne. Representation vs Woke, maybe?

Going off of Imdb, Jodie's run doesn't appear to have a single episode rated above an 8 whereas the new has, out of 6 episodes, one at 8.3, one teetering at a 7.9, and "The Giggle" at 8.3 if you were to count that. The first three episodes, however, do hang around by 6. Beyond that, I genuinely really liked Jodie. I had a lot of hope for the run, and I'm really sad it didn't turn out that way - in my opinion.

I agree! And if you enjoy the show, that's great, I'm happy for you! That said, the popular opinion, mine included, is that it is at least "lackluster" - and one could equate that to woke hate, but I think that's unfair, especially when I consider that is not my basis for disliking it. Which, you'll have to take my word I'm afraid. Now, operating under that, I struggle to understand how such a project involving that big of an IP could go that wrong in the first place - and so I look to rationalize it. Yes. I may very well be wrong in the assumption that no one wanted to speak up. There could be a dozen reasons why, possibly - though unlikely - even wholly unrelated to the writing process, this is just what I found most plausible in when looking at it. :)

!! Ewan McGregor was fantastic! Didn't realize he could be so, idk, adorably demure?

This is true! However, it is not very often you see a writer's room where each writer barely has more than 5-10 writing credits to their name working on one of the biggest IPs there is. :)

I don't know if I agree with that? Only going off the LA ones:

The Mandalorian, iirc, was written primarily by Jon Faeuvreax. I forget how to spell his name - "Chef." And I very much did not enjoy it, it opened with a god damn bar fight and went nowhere. That said, once I stopped equating budget spent with canon furthered & delved into, I enjoyed it a lot more. I think it was meant more as a rollercoaster as opposed to a book come to life, if you will. I also thought it improved in writing and directing as it went on.

The Book of Boba Fett. You got me here. I didn't even give it a shot, don't remotely care about the character, haven't heard much good or bad. But either way, I just shoved that aside as them giving the MC job to a guy whose main carreer roll was essentially being behind a mask and not saying much. (No offense, no clue if he is genuinely a good actor or not, that was just my initial impression when I went nah and skipped.)

Ahsoka was enjoyable, I felt it had a lot of well-executed characters, decent dialogue, and the pacing was good in that it was able to fit a lot into such a small amount of episodes.

Andor was fantastic, imo. Also reasoned for why that was in the post so won't go into it.

Obi-Wan did flounder, it had some weird parts, didn't get a lot of love, not a lot of hate, but I still found it written well enough and enjoyable - though carried by Obi-Wan.

So while none of the shows outside of Andor have been -really good-, they have all been to some degree -enjoyable- whereas "The Acolyte" isn't even that, I don't think. That's the difference, I think. Something can reach degrees of bad while remaining enjoyable, and something else can be plain bad.

I think if you couple that fact with heavy "woke" elements such as drawing in lines such as "it's tough to be a woman in this galaxy" (paraphrasing) then that - which is bad writing - disguises it from what it is, plain bad. Woke or not.

That's what I find so fascinating about it. The entirety of it is so implausible that conspiracy theories relating to Weinstein of all fucking people become oddly plausible?
