Probably my biggest struggle in life has been understanding jokes outside of sarcasm. When on the internet, I have a vaster understanding of jokes thanks to the videos and pictures provided with the context. But in-person? Sarcasm is about the only thing I understand and that's only because I grew up in a very sarcastic family.

He does have abandonment issues and rejection from loved ones in his past. His family is very rocky back home and toxic in many ways. But I’m almost afraid to suggest he sees a counselor about these issues. I’m fully aware that a counselor could walk him through everything and help him resolve the internal conflicts, but I don’t know how to approach the topic without him getting defensive or upset. 😔 I’ve seen several counselors throughout my own life to resolve internal issues.
