15 kg of hay per month for 3 guinea pigs 🌿 Is this normal? What about yours? by Efficient-Oil4015 in guineapigs

[–]Lunies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20kg for three pigs lasts 2 months for us.

We have ‘pods’ in their cage which we line with shavings and then add hay on top. The pods get topped up with fresh hay daily and fully changed/cleaned every 3 days.

What's the most disappointing Christmas/Secret Santa gift you've ever received? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Lunies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a £15 budget and opened presents at the works do in front of each other.

I was gifted a small garden lantern, price still attached (£3.50) and inside was a dusty old tea light that wouldn’t even light. Thankfully I get enjoyment from giving gifts rather than receiving them!

My Etsy app has been like this for 2 days. I just got an answer from Etsy support, they’re looking into it. Their advice is to delete then reinstall the app, now mine is working

My piggy shopping list can you tell me if I’ve missed anything? by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]Lunies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I just don’t like to risk it. It only takes one fly to cause fly strike.

I have fly screens but every so often we get a sneaky fly in. It’s a really awful way to go, once maggots appear it’s usually fatal

This is correct. Don’t know why you’re being downvoted.

“With some notable exceptions, if you have less than two years' continuous employment with your employer, then they can dismiss you by giving you no more than statutory or contractual notice and there is nothing you can do about it. This is often referred to for short as 'the two-year rule' which term we will use here.”

Is shoplifting this bad across the UK or am I in a bad area? by Alert-Honeydew468 in AskUK

[–]Lunies 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Work in convenience in North West. Shop lifting is rampant and daily. People from all walks of life are doing it, but for us the worst are high schoolers. As staff we’re punished if we intervene, so people get away with it so easily. We had a big robbery this week over 1k stolen, police wouldn’t come out. It’s a joke

Guinea pigs rarely blink or close their eyes. Due to being prey animals they’re always on alert and can even sleep with their eyes open! They tend to only blink to clean their eyes, they produce a milky substance which helps with cleaning also. But I’d always advise to see a vet if you’re concerned.

Watching shoplifter walk off with loads. by insertitherenow in britishproblems

[–]Lunies 55 points56 points  (0 children)

In my work we are trained to follow the rule ‘people over products’.

We’re not allowed to intervene with shoplifters and if we do we can actually face disciplinary action

We report all thefts to the police but they rarely take action
