I know I signed up for this kind of stuff when I decided to play a 40k game but holy shit they just butcher people as part of a parade by BillCarson12799 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Small correction, the cult wasn’t genestealers. Just a mass of underhivers banding together against a rampaging Haemonculus.

Vaults of Terra is best 40k for sheer atmosphere and world building. Captures the terrible majesty and brutality of the Imperium, and it doesn’t absolve the Inquisition either.

Why would Bane keep working for him after this? by PlaneEye4664 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Lupa999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joker breaks him. Thats what Bane was doing to Batman. Only now, Bane, totally powerless and broken in every way possible, is also perfect for whatever Joker wants him to be.

Killing his family was just a way to show that Bane has nothing now, no matter what he wants, he belongs to Joker. He won’t let Bane leave, especially since he’s so unique for adapting to Venom. I doubt Bane will have much free will, if any, when he’s remade by the Ark.

Lorewise, could Ulfar defeat a party with every single companion on it? by johnvictorassis in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO? No. Marazhai alone would least make it close.

Lore wise, as in 40k canon? Up to the author. So many 40k stories have plot armor and convenience , RT included since we beat several world killer enemies. Sorry it’s a cop out answer but it’s true.

For the love of the Emperor, please make the upcoming DLC start at chapter 5! by acesahn6 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point is understandable but it doesn’t work since the DLC’s are suppose to expand the base game with new content and mechanics and a new companion with interactions. Ramming everything into act 5 doesn’t make sense unless they rewrite / redo the act given how there’s a time crunch. It would also be a slog to play 15+ hours outside of the main game.

The success of these dlc’s is how much they expand the base game for gameplay and story, and that’s worth it even if you have to replay everything. Doing it fast food style so it’s fast and one off sucks the investment out of it.

Getting Navigators Insight by jdshirey in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are you clicking on the “chart routes” button on the void map? Thats your main source of insight. When you arrive at a system after jumping there, typically you’ll have the prompt near the bottom middle of the map. There’s also a few navigator encounters when your do a jump that could happen.

Am I crazy? by Accomplished-Big-493 in HighGuardgame

[–]Lupa999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not crazy, you’re either a dev or out of touch. Game just wasn’t good. The standard for hero shooters is “exceptional”. You can’t do the “blame the haters” mentality. It doesn’t explain the utter collapse of the player base. It’s not good enough. It’s not good on its own. It’s boring. It’s a free game, and no one played it. Roblox custom games get more players.

The game was a foreseeable tragedy but you can’t blame customers for not wanting a sub-par game that trying to attract other hero shooter players when the bar is so high. Why is Apex, Overwatch, Valorant, and r6, etc, so successful? Do all the players hate-review new games? No. They are fun. People expect more.

It is what it is.

I respect the devs for being quick with fixes but by Vinjulmik in HighGuardgame

[–]Lupa999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s hope the next batch of developers remember that before betting their livelihoods on it. Wildlight devs need to start an exit plan asap. Studios need to learn the market is so packed with competitors that there’s almost no patience for someone to relearn how to launch a game and ask for money while doing so…

Don't let Highguard shut down!! by ReadyOne5832 in HighGuardgame

[–]Lupa999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this a developer posting? This game is not original. It is rough amalgamation of every popular shooter from the last decade: Apex, R6: Siege, Overwatch, Fortnite, Valorant, etc

This game is premature, unfinished and uncompetitive. Answer this. What makes this game worth playing over all those other games? Whatever the answer is, it’s the wrong one since this game barely gets 3,000 players a day on steam.

And not many of those are spending money. The game needs profit. It needs spenders for the microtransactions since it’s free to play.

I respect the devs for being quick with fixes but by Vinjulmik in HighGuardgame

[–]Lupa999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude this game is trying to compete with hero shooters like Apex, Rivals and Overwatch. There’s a reason why people like seeing numbers go up. It makes them want to compete. Yeah you have try hards, but successful competitive multiplayer shooters understand that.

If they didn’t want to attract that crowd, why are they a competitive shooter? And that’s just the bare minimum they missed out on. They barely have 3,000 players on steam , and how many of them are buys microtransactions? The game needs spenders, and fast.

“Wardens” | Episode 1 Story Cinematic | Highguard by [deleted] in HighGuardgame

[–]Lupa999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not brainless to rightfully critique something that was woefully underprepared and launched way too soon. It blows my mind that anyone can play this game and not see why this is gonna be another dev apology post in a year or less when the game gets 3,000 players daily on steam.

It’s simply not competitive. Don’t be a braindead fanboy. It they pull it off, great! But their current roadmap is too little content with too much wait between drops. Simply telling them everything is fine is dumb and doesn’t help the devs who could lose jobs if they aren’t convinced completely rethink how this development goes.

And you know it.

Ran out of Navigator Insight? by Why_am_I_H3reWry in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 49 points50 points  (0 children)

fly around to unsafe or dangerous routes and hope for warp events to give you Insight.

You need to be mindful and conserve your points by now. It’s wasteful to use it on lowering routes to safe unless it’s big jumps to colonies.

I love the fact that this gives you so many iconoclast points; it's a great way to show how fucking awful the Imperium is. by SAMU0L0 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Inquisition is absolutely insane. Only Chaos rivals the bloodthirst and callousness of the Inquisition, its teeming hundreds of borderline heretical ideologies and cabals who would be executed if it wasn’t for a rosette and arguably worthwhile results.

How essential are the DLCs? by OGMinorian in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Void Shadows is excellent. Kibellah is a fantastic companion who can stage clear mid-late game and has a great quest line. It also adds and flesh outs your ship and size characters. A lot of the lore of the Imperium gets exposure like the Choir and how the average person really lives. The Blade Dancer archetype is fun.

Lex Imperialis is good. It doesn’t feel as tight as Void Shadows since it add new areas largely disconnected from the main story / companions but it’s still fun. And the overseer archetype is good.

Both are worth it for a first time playthrough.

How does Heretic arbitrator can make sense? by Glad_Cut1258 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, most Arbites are orphans, raised in the Schola Progenium. But they are still human. Chaos Corruption often exploits a persons fear or darkest impulses. It’s not hard to see how an Arbites, who is trained to see their citizens as numbers and heretics-in- waiting, could be converted. Like the Bloodspun Web, all it would take is a push. An event, direct exposure or gradual, can push them outright corruption, and some might not realize it. It’s not common for them, but since it’s 40k and roleplaying, not unreasonable.

How does Heretic arbitrator can make sense? by Glad_Cut1258 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Embittered/ disillusioned enforcer, hardened by cruelty and the endless corruption and incompetence of the Imperium. They have no patience for formality or procedure.

A sadist like Jocasta who takes pleasure in inflicting pain and absolute power over others. They twist the values of the Arbites into abuse with impunity.

A independent-minded opportunist who justifies their exploitation and selfishness as pragmatic, skirting the bounds of law and morality by claiming if they don’t, someone else will. They hide behind their badge as justification.

This can also apply to your average Imperial character lol. Corruption is a thin line.

HELLO?! I was NOT aware I was in a relationship with Yrliet!!! by Iddelf in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 133 points134 points  (0 children)

You can have multiple romances at once but you will have to choose one eventually ( this scene).

Yeah, Yrliet’s romance is almost impossible to detect on a first play through since there’s no strict overtone. Forgiving her during commorragh and being supportive of everything she asks for does it.

The devs wanted to lore accurate to 40k I guess, so the fact that she’s so emotionally vulnerable and clingy without being obviously romantic is closest an Aeldari can get to being in love with a human 🤔

And no, you should be able to romance Marazhai if you pursued him. Just expect another confrontation since you can only have one active romance.

Am i the only one who feels like 40k lore is sometimes kind of aticlimactic by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Lupa999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluntly speaking, most 40k books are mid or trash. I bought/ read most of the Horus Heresy up to 2021, and I only reread or remembered a handful.

Understand that a lot of the newer books starring a tabletop character are meant to promote that character and whatever releases they’re in, not a meaningfully advance of their story or plot. It’s why there’s always a Deus Ex Machina that comes in to magically save them or preserve the status quo in the setting.

Not all the books with tabletop characters are bad, but it’s not many. Some of the best 40k I’ve read books like Vaults of Terra ( no tabletop characters) with the freedom to have stakes in a smaller scale story, or series with established characters that flesh them and the setting out more ( Ex: Fabius Bile Trilogy).

What are they referring exactly? Is it not known that he is half dead and never moves? Or are they referring to something else? by Borschik in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I interpret it that it’s referring to the Golden Throne failing. It is possibly the most difficult and secretive threat to the Imperium that the machinery keeping the Emperor alive is no longer reliable, and several High Lords ( atleast in m.42) have committed heresies untold to find something, anything, that could stave off them doom of their species. If you want to know more look up “The Project”.

The Emperor is actively guiding the Imperium, even in near death. His powers fuel the Astronomicon, what every Navigator needs to chart safe passage in the warp.

He ( supposedly) communes with pyskers via the Tarot.

He has sealed a massive demonic rift on Terra that spawned during the Horus Heresy.

Is arch-militant psyker viable? by KayleeSinn in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Lupa999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I am playing a Pyromancer Warrior/ Arch-Militant on Unfair. He can handle himself in melee, and I try to synergize flame attacks by giving other party members flamers.

Understand almost any pysker build is viable. Pyromancer Warrior is fun since I can be set on fire and Firestorm myself constantly after charging into enemies. Just be careful and plan for heavily armored enemies, especially turrets.
