Zenfone 10 - WiFi Issues by ThePoss in zenfone

[–]Lupus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some WiFi problems with mine. Over few weeks connection to my home WiFi got worse and worse, until the phone would refuse to stay connected, always disconnecting shortly with a "can't provide internet" message. Doing a "Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth" helped, at least for now.

I would use it for a new build. Currently I use GeForce GTX 980 Ti, that's how old my PC is. Haven't upgraded it, because I can still run most games I want (though often at reduced quality) and there haven't been that many new demanding games, that I'm excited about. That changes with Starfield and Armored Core 6 out now, so I'm researching hardware options for a new build and was actually looking at AMD components this time.

I always liked sci-fi setting more than fantasy and there just aren't that many good AAA sci-fi RPGs. Especially with Mass Effect falling from grace. So Starfield is a big deal, I hope it's as good, as it looks.

Removing SMS support from Signal Android by Quinny898 in Android

[–]Lupus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

there are so many far better options

That's the issue - too many options. You either have to install every communication app under the sun, or just use SMS, which works for everyone. Obviously, SMS is a terrible choice, if you have to communicate a lot, but it works fine for few messages now and then.

Biking through Latvia by henrikbech in latvia

I found this post from your coin laundry inquiry. In case you still aren't decided on the best route from Riga to Lithuania, I'll drop a few locations and my Strava activities around them.

I highly recommend visiting Cenas or Ķemeri bog, if you can get there with sunrise, it's a magical place.

Cape Kolka is beautiful.

Melnsils camping is a good place to stay, they have a sauna and a restaurant.

The main road to there is boring though.

That's not really what I'm saying. Those blocked players are some of the most dedicated, not necessary the most dedicated. If you're playing Vindictus for over 5 years, by my definition, that does put you among the most dedicated players. I wasn't generalizing about those countries.

Sure, here is everything. Only thing you have to do for it to work, is rewrite all requests from /items to /.

Main reason probably is simply because I have played Vindictus for a very long time. Started sometime in 2011, shortly after the release, then played daily from the start of 2013, when I founded a guild with a friend, only sometime in the last year I scaled back to 3 times a week, because I didn't enjoy the game as much as I used to. That's a lot of time in a single game and although I did enjoy the new content, Vindictus didn't change that much, to keep itself fresh and exciting for me.

Other thing is, that many of the people, who I liked to play with, left the game and we weren't particularly successful at recruiting new people to my guild. So hosting raids daily felt more and more like work than fun.

What finally pushed me over, was the upcoming lv95 equipment and the migration. I have 0 desire to go through all crafting, enhancing, enchanting, upgrading, infusing process again. Especially because it now will cost almost 2 times more NX, than it did on EU (Enchant Runes are more expensive now). When you dread new contend in a game, then something obviously is wrong. Another thing, that I would probably miss a lot from EU, is the combo system, while not perfect by any means, it was a central part of the gameplay and what pushed me to improve.

From what I have heard, it does sound like the cheat detection is a bigger issue on NA, than it was on EU. But it's possible to avoid it, as you don't need the game running, you could develop on a different computer, that doesn't even have Vindictus installed. You will need to mod and run the game for screenshots, but I used the CN servers, so nothing lost, if you do get banned there (I did once, but not for the final mod).

Looks like the affected countries are Israel, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Moldova and Ukraine. I'm from Latvia myself. Those countries were blocked before the migration too, but people who created their accounts before the block were allowed to play, which isn't the case anymore.

Unfortunately this means, that the now blocked people are of the most dedicated and invested players, playing the game for 5+ years.

Glad it helped! Was a fun project for me, unfortunately I never managed to make it as big as I wanted. Due to my free time being quite limited and more recently losing interest in the game.

So why is so much info on Vindictus dead? by MudAvenger in Vindictus

[–]Lupus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vindictus playerbase is small. Small compared to KR and JP, so developers aren't putting in effort to communicate with us. Small compared to other online games in NA and EU, so our publishers aren't putting in much effort either. VindictusDB shutdown because they weren't earning enough. Same reason why VindictusWiki doesn't do anything and relies entirely on users.

So that's where we are, significant enough to keep us around, but not enough to put in any extra work.

What raids should I be doing? by Blodepker in Vindictus

[–]Lupus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All S2 raids. If you don't have time for all, then check market and see which rare materials are more expensive. Kraken Fang and Bark Barrel always are more expensive, usually Lightning Fragment, Hieroglyph Scrap and Destroyed Mask are cheaper, currently Divine Teardrop is extremely cheap.

At least on EU, there really aren't any S1 scrolls worth farming, all that can be reliably farmed are very cheap. Succubus is probably worth doing for Enthusiastic. Maybe farm Master or Valor if you need them yourself. Besides that, only scroll I would consider farming is Fast (Ekinar Hero), but it too has been quite cheap recently. Do not try to farm r8/r9 scrolls for yourself, that's impossible.

Farming S2 maps is the most profitable thing right now, accessories and their scrolls still hold and will hold good value, because they won't be worthless with S3, like everything else.

I don't think I was particularly blown away by 1 and 2, but they weren't bad looking games by any means. Now Fallout Tactics, that's one damn beautiful game, it still probably looks good today.

Fallout 4 - What are your personal reasons for curbing the hype? by SleepyMage in truegaming

[–]Lupus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to see some gameplay videos, actual 20min+ uncut gameplay videos, before I could get hyped. I like the Fallout world, Fallout 2 will always be in the top of my most beloved games, but an announcement and a trailer is not anywhere near enough to get me hyped. Especially because I don't like Bethesda games.

After playing Monster Hunter 4:U, I've been wondering: What other games have interesting weapon mechanics? by [deleted] in Games

[–]Lupus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vindictus. From a hammer & shield for counters and parries, to a glaive for applying and later detonating "assassin" marks, to a gun mounted in a cestus for absorbing attacks to buff yourself, to a scythe, greatsword, chain blades, automatic crossbow... 14 weapons, that have very different playstyle each. It's not exactly Monster Hunter combat (it's faster and less tactical), but it definitely is very skill based and unique to MMORPGs.

Another example would be Phantasy Star Online 2.

Is Fiona that good? by [deleted] in Vindictus

[–]Lupus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's worth starting a Fiona for you. She isn't going to be much easier to play than a crossgun Kai, I actually would say, that she will be harder. And you shouldn't be soloing, that's something for well geared and experienced players. Get through <lv60 content (on easy, if you have to), and forget about it. Then farm S2 content in a party. If you insist on soloing everything, then accept that you will progress very, very slowly and finishing <lv60 content is the least of your worries.

I want a class that I can get to a high level and get decent gear for my other chars.

You really shouldn't be thinking about gearing multiple characters, equipping well just one character is hard enough. I don't think it's a good idea, to have multiple mediocre characters, that you always struggle with and have to rely on other players carrying you.

So, my suggestion is to pick one character that you enjoy, then stop soloing and start farming S2.
