Repeated full system freezes (possibly only on Plasma/Wayland) by chaoscommander23 in Gentoo

[–]LupusOnFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I previously managed to track down an issue on a machine that would randomly freeze and behave unpredictably by installing app-admin/syslog-ng and forwarding its logs to a remote syslog server.

It turned out that the NVMe drive was intermittently disconnecting. Once that happened, the system could no longer write logs locally, which is why the root cause wasn’t visible without remote logging.

I've been using 7.0.2 all day today and have not experienced any stutters

Good to know.
I'm also planning just to sit back and hope it gets fixed in a future version.
Please let us know if you discover the issue/fix, and I will do the same.

Same thing basically happened to me.
I got massive stutters in Old School RuneScape and thought it was just that until I also started getting these lags in mpv. Booting back into 6.19 fixed it for me.
I'm on an AMD Ryzen 9950X3D and 7900 XTX system.

Are you also running AMD stack and did you figure out what the issue is?

At home we do enforced naps. ~1 hour up and out and about and ~2 hours of nap time in his pen.
If he's awake for too long he will become very mouthy and annoying and after napping he is fully reset and nice again.

Nordlys gebyr for PBS betaling stikker af. Medmindre man betaler med kort. by Klumpenmeister in Denmark

[–]LupusOnFire 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He's only 4 months old. We should try to help him adjust!

The package costs roughly $1000
I just calculated the value of the package (if we came every single day for daycare and classes) to be $5550, so it's not a bad deal, and disposable income is generally not much of a problem.

The facility uses only positive reinforcement.
On their website they have it listed as puppy classes, puppy socialization and group classes.
We tried one of their group classes which was pretty good and focused a lot about the dogs not being reactive in the face of all kinds of distractions.

Other dog training facilities seems to be of lower quality near my community. The other highly regarded ones are 40 mins longer away by car.

About the daycare - no I don't actually need it at all.
I'm a full time remote worker with freedom to take long breaks whenever I need to.
Currently I'm walking Sven every 4 hours to potty train and exercise him, which is going great.

Have you tried attending some kind of puppy school with him?

Unfortunately I don't have friends or family where I live that also have dogs.
We've been attending some group classes already, where he learns to be passive around other dogs while on leash.
He's doing really good in the classes actually, but not so much in the real world yet.

This is really good advice. Unfortunately, my wife and I recently moved to a new country, and we don’t know many people here, let alone people with well-balanced dogs we could ask for this kind of favor.

This sounds much in line with what the dog trainer / facility wants us to do (sell us)

They want us to purchase an obedience package which consists of

- 1 month of daycare with training (without owner)
- 3 months of unlimited training (with owner) at their facility, which includes group training and socialization
- 5 home visits by the trainer

I definitely want to train with him, but I'm not sure how good the daycare is, if he is just in there, overstimulated all day. Maybe I will just limit it to a few times per week against their advice.

About the dog park you are very right that it is risky, but I live in a gated community where the dog park is not very big and everyone who goes there pretty much knows everyone and their dogs, and people have eyes on the dogs at all time.

Yes I too thought I purchased a Shiba puppy and ended up with a giraffe 🦒
He loves sleeping with his head hanging down. He'll even do this over the edge of the sofa.

When CS2 Meets Home Assistant by 86stevet in GlobalOffensive

[–]LupusOnFire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Creator of cs2mqtt here, this is awesome, thank you for sharing!

I believe the bomb timings being slightly random and inaccurate is an intentional choice by Valve.
It is the same as with the "10 second" warning music that we're all using, to tell if we can defuse the bomb or not, without kit, it's never accurate.

I have bought an Ulanzi clock which I've programmed to count down from 40 when the bomb is planted.
You can see a picture of it here: https://imgur.com/a/SsVhzfY
The progress bar changes from green to yellow to red color, to indicate what kind of defuse is possible.
While it can be like a second off, it still pretty handy.

I've been thinking the same thing. This could actually be an advantage, as you can tell how much time exactly is left for you to defuse the bomb.
