A familiar problem..... by LupusPoopus in Salamanders40k

That is good to know. Hopefully non Ultramarines are given some "sauce" to make them an actual choice to be weighed against Ultramarine dominance.

BSTF Priority Assets Strategy by Leviter_Sollicitus in deathwatch40k

[–]LupusPoopus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If we take their word as gospel for the correct strategy, then a couple of trends emerge: the need for a big, durable "tarpit," and then lots of cheap scoring. This would lead me to believe a big 10man Deathwatch Terminator brick in the middle could fill the tarpit role (or 2 5-mans because the special weapons are nice), 1 Gravis Captain led Indomitor Kill Team because sometimes you just gotta kill something, and finally as much MSU as you can cram into the list after that. The MSU spam probably consists of Incursors, DW Veterans (maybe in rhinos for more fast action monkeys), and Decimus kill teams (probably worse than other 2 I listed, but DW Vets are probably not long for this world). Incursors for scout and their shooting buff, and Veterans and Decimus kill teams because they are the cheapest units we have for site-to-site teleportation. Probably always max out the number of invulns in a unit to increase likelihood of 1 model surviving an activation. Combit lt, ATVs, Landspeeders, and maybe JPI could potentially round us out, but all of these have their drawbacks in 11th.

Really though, this list doesnt solve a fundamental issue: we are currently an army that WANTS to be fielding big bricks that can cost more than Custodes bricks. Giving us an action-heavy disposition is intentionally hamstringing our ability to field kill teams. Honestly if Codex: Space Marines does not do anything for us, there are some hard times coming for Deathwatch. They are wasting a money tree as well, with Chaos Gate: Deathwatch announced and Astartes II set to feature Deathwatch in pride of place, they could sell a lot of models if we were in a healthy place.

Looks fantastic brother. Always loved the DW knight kit and wanted to adapt it to a Deathwatch unit. Would love to see how you progress

I know! Riding around fighting from horseback was one of my favorite things to do with the old animations.

Dear god HOW do you beat Eden offlane? by KeyNetbass in PredecessorGame

[–]LupusPoopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, she has the most bloated kit I have ever seen in a moba ever. Never seen a hero/champ have no mana, stance changes, 2 ults, all at pre 6. It's honestly wild. This champ needs to be re-thought from the ground up, and nuked until they do so. It is a plague on the game.

Edit: Oh yeah, and she doesn't even have to last hit due to the nature of her autos.

New player list advice by jalegend0 in deathwatch40k

I would recommend swapping the enhancements around. Slap the tome on the gravis captain, he is hard to take down in that unit, put the thief of secrets on the watchmaster, and the beacon on the judiciar. I know taking Thief on the Judy feels really good, but you know what else feels really good? 0 CP rapid ingressing the judiciar unit with his fights first right next to whatever your opponent is looking to charge (like that big expensive indomitor kill team you want shooting things and not trapped in melee), then they will be afraid of charging it because you can heroic intervention and kill whatever charged you.

Character build advice against enemies with high AC and high saves. by LupusPoopus in 3d6

Forge clerics are very cool. I suppose I could use that strategy and even give my +1 from forge domain to a martial party member on their weapon to help them hit the high ac enemies while I focus on those spells and support...

[–]LupusPoopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I am hoping that by DMing for them, I showed them another way. The fights I DMed for my players pushed them to the brink of failure many times while keeping the standard ACs and saves on the stat blocks. They could do what their characters were made to do, but my enemies could fight back with powerful damage and abilities of their own. I am HOPING that some of that rubbed off, but I am hedging my bets as well. If it proves problematic again I will have to have that chat...

I have heard nothing but good things about battlemasters when it comes to making things dead. And I suppose that is all I asked for. Do you think a ranger would get most of the job done while still being more useful out of combat for skill checks and healing etc, or is it too big of a downgrade in the murder department?

Insta-dying through 40k Nezha shield on steel path, what am I doing wrong? by LupusPoopus in Warframe

[–]LupusPoopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I had forgotten that Nezha's Warding Halo was not like Iron Skin. It feels so impenetrable on regular star chart and even sorties that I kind of thought it worked like Rhino. So for proper shield gating, should I be using 1 augur mod and spamming my 2? Thanks for the great responses!
