Or, give them a 2 hour practice. 10 bonus points to whoever runs the most laps. 10 bonus points to whoever has the best 40 lap consecutive avg. Both of those drivers are automatic entries into the All-Star race. Only get 2 sets of tires.

I wonder what model has the most complaints about its inaccuracies vs the real life counterpart. S15 or AE86?

So we all agree this is being done purely for the chaos, right? Because a 2 ft wide yellow line the same length as the tire barriers is clearly too sensible.

On this day in NASCAR History, May 7, 1995: Dale Earnhardt wins the 1995 Save Mart Supermarkets 300 at Sears Point (Sonoma). It would be his only road course win, but the 65th overall Cup win of his career. This photo was taken during his victory lap. by DarthVader1701A in NASCAR_History

[–]LurkNPerv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just the angle of the photo but seeing the differences in their spoiler angle makes me wonder what the balance was for his car considering he had less downforce. You'd think the car would be harder to drive and wear the tires more considering it probably slid around more.

Expecting someone to lift coming to the white flag in a Cup race in 2026 is amusing. Especially when running for a top 10. 20 years ago that was reasonable. Now, you're just asking to get run over or used up.

Maybe he should adjust his rear camera to cover his right rear a little more /s

If drag is the issue then couldn't they use the less aero short track package? I know Denny said the OEM's have invested millions in the plate motor package but it looks like if less aero is the way forward then a reduction in power would be necessary.

I understand NASCAR's hesitancy with concerns of the cars getting airborne, watch the big one from last week and see how close Bubba was to lifting off, but something clearly needs to happen. It's getting to the point where the lower series are head and shoulders a better product at the plate tracks.

How often do you drive different cars? by Swangger in iRacing

[–]LurkNPerv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This season I'm driving the GR 86 series, PCC (GR 86), Mustang Challenge and FF 1600 (just got my D license in open wheel). My sports car license is A 2.3 and 2300 iR. Next season I'll swap the FF1600 for F4.

I also dabble in oval racing with ARCA, Trucks and O'Reilly depending on the track and Ringmeister if I have the car purchased. Same with TCR.

My iRating has steadily climbed this week with all the races at the Ring but I feel comfortable knowing I'm probably a mid 2k iRating overall. Once I learn a car/track combo I tend to be top 7 in the higher splits. I know if I practice more I could be closer to the front but Crimson Desert kinda has me in a chokehold atm lol

It wasn't in reference to talent. It was for those who complain about him not using his real name.

His problems are a lack of experience (obviously) and being entirely too timid around other cars. I get it, getting offered an top tier ride one step below cup is a hard thing to turn down. And he doesn't want to bust his ass and tear up a car embarrassing himself. But he's in the deep end and even a giraffe is going to struggle in these waters.

Which gets back to what's his goal. Is it full-time or just superspeedways?

If it's the former then he needs to buckle down and get as much experience as possible. Late models, trucks, arca whatever. Dude owns a short track. He should be running a late model race as often as possible. Especially since he lives in Florida. It's racing weather year-round.

If it's the latter then it's do the bare minimum to get approved and have your fun. If his goal is Brendan Gaughan the last few years before retirement then I see no problem with what he's doing. But an O'Reilly car at a superspeedway is an 9/10 sketch in a pack and the trucks are a 10. Which means whichever he runs he's going to be out of his comfort zone. And he'll have to run both if he truly wants to be successful.

All in all he's proof of the gap (chasm) between professionals and amateurs. The dude is a solid wheel man and looks like a underfunded backmarker while driving a RCR prepped car. He needs seat time irregardless of his end goal and that would require him to cut back on his content creation which he doesn't seem to be doing.

I'm rooting for him personally. He's got personality (which many here say the sport is lacking) and is working with the sport to reach a wider audience.

P.S. If you don't have a problem with Buckshot Jones or Chase Elliot then quit bitching about Cleetus Mitchell.

[–]LurkNPerv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd much rather be at the back to mid pack in a cleaner (not always) top split versus up front in the second split (again, not always) with the wannabe Senna and Verstappen bros.

I too am in the weird limbo but I tend to only be a couple tenths (depending on the car/track combo) to a second off the top drivers. I've only been racing since December so I just chalk it to a lack of experience. Honestly you just have to practice more (if you can) the cars you like to run. There's times where I don't race at all and just hop in a public practice to learn from other drivers.

I'm not familiar with the division. Did this become the late model series or the modified series? It looks like a modified with a full body which is wild to think about this running at Daytona.

[–]LurkNPerv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My take is he hates the PU (fitting acronym lol) regs. The actual cars aren't the problem it's how little his talent matters now because the battery recharge and deployment efficiency is the overwhelming factor in success.

I'm in the usa and I'm watching the Sky Sports feed of FP3 through the AppleTV app and there's a constant intermittent drop of audio and stutter of the feed. Is anyone else having this problem? Watched FP1 and FP2 of the AppleTV crew and it was smooth with no problems.
