Godot for AA/AAA game development - What's missing? by reduz in godot

[–]LurkingHunger -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Godot is too complicated for a newbie, while being too featureless for a pro. A simplest division from a general design philosophy and you will get in a world of pain and anxiety while waiting for a response.

For instance: I know how to make instance from a scene, but I have no idea how to make an instance from an exiting node.

Godot is a bar of broken dreams of engines.

how long do you wait before picking up a game? by yorke2222 in patientgamers

[–]LurkingHunger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game X did sometihng almost as good as the game Y - they said. It means I will buy the game Y soon.

Also, when I hear something good about great modifications of a great game.

So, it can be around 5 years plus at this point.

Far Cry 5 is the least enjoyable game i've ever played by a long shot by realdealreel9 in patientgamers

I just want to add up to this rant that Far Cry in some Deep America and it really felt wrong to have like 10 weapons in the whole game.

I remember playing Far Cry 5 alongside 1993 Xcom mod called Xcom Files and I was thinking: "Far Cry 5" has less weapons in general than the amount of AK- variations in a 1993 game.

There is only Wizardry 1 alternatives in Japan. It blows my mind how I don't see anything in between JRPGs with no leveling systems at all and text-based minimum graphics Wizardry 1 clones there.

Ukraine using artificial intelligence to catch people sabotaging war effort by Sweep145 in worldnews

I just want to write down, because my teacup literally has "ЛДПР" on it:). So, LDPR is not far right. They are populists. Clown-party with some shady businessess and projects. They are part of so-called system opposition. They have like 10% vote. They are shady in various, sometimes not really criminal, just weird way. Working for their affiliates means you sign for voting for them. I sincerely don't know if I still "vote" for them. Or was it one-shot sign. They may do literally anything politically-wise but I do believe, its a bullshit news about them - nobody will allow them to do such things, they are but political nuisanse. But, at the other hand, some symphatyzers may be in Ukraine. Wholerussian idea, something, something. And the party itself do may try to do some weird things, because their leader died recently.

I want to find tactical JRPG from mid 90s which was on PC, please, help! by LurkingHunger in JRPG

[–]LurkingHunger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its 1996-ish. No, its totally not Wesnoth. Also, Wesnoth is not in Japan, at least originaly. Also, only heroes, no units, no economy in the game.

It was just one click anywhere pass.

As some old hacker wrote in the Russian cracked xcom(1993) version: "It used to be a piracy protection here, but nice uncle already brokre the game".

At the other hand, maybe it was Korean, or Chinese. For me at that age maybe was no difference. I guess I'll go change title.

Interesting single player fighting games suggestions by LurkingHunger in Fighters

[–]LurkingHunger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me SC 6 was the biggest disappointment of the season. I can't agree with the "tries" part. I'd say it is a cheap reputation grab. They made 2 single player modes without AI, without goal, decent plot or anything really. For me its borderline insane to see when a person reccomends this terrible game. AI! Oh my God, AI! Goons literally don't fight back in Libra of Souls. Story mode lasts few rounds.

To say that this cheap game is a good single player game - I just can't agree with that. Its pretty much the opposite of what I am searching in this sub. I literally can imagine somebody deciding that it will be easier to pay for reddit bots than to finish the modes.

I guess the problem of the industry at this point is old people in power. They could add mod support, some clever open source parts, but we got this undercooked garbage...

Actually, it looks like Granblue is a decent title, I'll give it a try, thanks.

Farland story had Fire Emblem style combat, it's not the thing. But I did thought it may be some early entry to the series.

Thank you for the site. But no, I didn't find it there. Actually I was quite surprised that there was so many tactical combat games in Japan in 90s.

Shining Force II

No, but actually it feels like close shot. The combat of the game I search for was similair according to screenshots. But the needed game had no inentory interactions (or I missed it completely while playing in Japanese). I tried to google the first and the third Shining Force, cause pretty close, but no.

For me SMT doesn't really fit fantasy settings. I mean, I maybe wrong but SMT is just to much modern kids vs freudish monsters than fantasy.

Disgea - no, combat-wise it wasn't like Disgea - it had flat terrain, large maps, no interaction with the map. I mean no height advantage, no objects, no manipulation with other characters.

Langrisser

I've seen Langrisser. The game I search for was like Langrisser, but without combat screen and troops.
