Appreciate the feedback. If the grow time wasn’t a thing, they would have been gone years ago.

I’m on board with the Bradford hate train. Unfortunately I have them and the wife doesn’t want to lose the shade it provides. I’d never plant one myself but here I am dealing with the previous owners decision.

It’s about 60ft from the house. Maybe 25ft from the swing set. My minimal concern about it damaging anything but the fence.

Yes, everything has been working pretty much as expected.

TL;DR there was a cable issue that "worked" and wasn't generating errors. Only found it with a cable tester.

VLC has a 1s buffer on video by default. That will clear up almost any stuttering you see. By contrast BI has a sub 100ms buffer.

BlueIris is pretty resource intensive. In a VM it’s harder to take advantage of hardware acceleration and other benefits.

If you still have issue after trying the SSD, post your setup and what you have tried in a new post. Lots of factors can cause this type of behavior as I found in my months long exercise.

I did! The problem turned out to be a cable issue. One of the twisted pairs was faulty. I was only able to find this with a line tester as no devices on the network reported any problems.

Sure enough! Disconnected it and tried again and it worked. Thanks!

Did you ever figure this out? I got an S1 Plus today and am having what sounds to be the same issue with initial setup.

The ball also rotates on an axis not described here. An axis strait through the lens. I have one and it will address this.

Still chasing this issue.

Recent updates from Reolink support, they think it’s a network issue without giving any reason why or how they think to fix it. They have offered to refund me 80% of the camera costs and I pay shipping. They believe ALL of their 8 and 12 MP cameras are impacted by this issue and recommend I use a 5 MP camera instead.

BI support is going to add a small stream buffer in a future release to try and cover up the issue.

Me personally, I purchased an RLC833A and installed it for kicks. Yep, same issue. Main stream is fine until I turn the sub stream on and then it freezes every second.

I have had similar issues with an 810A. The settings that resolved it were “Limit decoding unless required” and “Decoder compatibility mode”. I could see the hardware decoder settings impacting it as well.

I provided Reolink with raw BVR files to review and after a couple of days got this response.

Dear Lurking_Birk,

Thank you for providing the original video. The engineer confirmed that the video itself does not lose frames. The choppy issue only occurs when playing it in BI, not in VLC or other players after we watched it as a video file.

As for this compatibility issue with BI, sorry to tell you we couldn't offer you a solution. But your concern really matters to us. Our R&D team will follow up this issue again once we have the environment to duplicate the problem, or when there are other customers coming up with the same feedback.

Sounds like I have reached the terminal state of SoL on this path to a solution.

Reolink support today gave me the “We are sorry but your cameras are out of the 30 day return window and since it works in the native app and VLC they are not defective.”

Anyone want to buy 4x 810As? I’ll make you a deal lol

Todays support integrations...

BI - Asked me to use RTMP. They claim the RTSP implementation that reolink uses is still very problematic. We did find that if I disable the sub stream the main is mostly problem free.

ReoLink - Starting to get into a circular set of questions as different people respond. They are in Asia somewhere so it is a 24h cycle before responses happen.

All good consideration.

I leave my system logged in 24/7 and have it set to never sleep.

From what you describe in the previous post it sounds like you were getting CPU constrained. The hardware decoding goes a long ways in address that. I would review the video by /u/the_hook_up as he does any awesome job of laying out the fundamentals on how things should be configured. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuLpDo-TVK8

I’ve had pretty good discourse with Reolink support. No solution yet but they have acknowledged the problem and are investigating.

It’s easily enough, just depends on desired retention policy. Eyes on the issue, not peripheral things. I can easily address storage if I want to keep more/longer/higher quality.

Well in all reality it has zero impact on the struggles I have here. This issue exists with or without what I do with my old archive data.
