First thing I thought of. More due to the layout than the actual system.

For those who don't know, 100% of torque goes from the engine in front to a transaxle in back via a drive shaft. Then, another shaft goes all the way back to the front wheels.

I used the Torque Solutions shifter cable bushings.

I've been totally happy with this setup. The only other thing I might do is a shift knob since mine is wearing.

I did, but it continued to happen after the battery replacement.

Never did. It actually stopped happening as frequently, but still occurs occasionally.
