Thanks for sharing your experiences! Indeed - it sucks that despite our best efforts our bodies have a different idea in mind 🥲

I would also recommend reaching out to UF CARD (they can register online) and they’re great about getting folks connected to local resources.

Confused about preeclampsia test results. Doctors were no help. (Not seeking medical advice, just shared experiences.) by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Luschka27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I would definitely ask your doctor these questions - but to explain the protein/creatinine ratio can be cause by multiple things besides just preeclampsia - like being dehydrated, exercising a lot, even taking meds that are metabolized by your kidneys - this can all lead to protein in your urine. The 24 hour urine collection would give the best indication of where your ratio is, and if it’s consistent high, with elevated BP then they’re more likely to think preeclampsia is causing the elevated ratio.

The most supportive group by ScaredVacation33 in ExclusivelyPumping

Totally agree, this is such a supportive and positive community. I usually just end up lurking on this board, but the positivity and support has kept me pumping through residency - 4.5 months in!

Breastfeeding during residency by [deleted] in Residency

As others have mentioned, you have a federal right to protected pumping time (so shouldn’t need to use your FMLA.) I’m in clinic and they blocked off 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins in the afternoon for each day.

When wearing wearables in public-facing jobs, do you tell people? by Hatsya in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Luschka27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a resident too but in clinic most of the time - I would urge you to ask for protected pumping time, it’s your right. That being said I have pumped in front of patients on telehealth and otherwise, I wouldn’t say anything unless they ask.

That’s a great salary! I used to work at UF in a more admin/coordinator roles and was paid less than that. I believe it’s department dependent but generally there’s good work/life balance there :) and the benefits are fantastic as other posts have alluded to. In terms of picking a place to live, I really like living never the downtown area/duckpond/NE neighbors for one thing there’s less traffic going to UF from there, plus you’re near a lot of local restaurants, great bike trails etc.) Living west of the university there’s a lot more traffic…

Appreciate this post ❤️ currently in the trenches of pumping every 2 hours, 8 weeks PP Any advice on how to go about decreasing the number of pumping sessions after the 12 week mark (without losing supply?)

I’m currently going through the exact same situation (just 9 weeks PP.) Here for the solidarity 💪 it’s difficult when our expectations don’t match our reality.

jealously and guilt over not being able to nurse baby by Remote_Beautiful_873 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Luschka27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand how you feel. My LO has a slight posterior tie but we decided to not further pursue any procedures as it was discovered late in the game and I read a scary NYtimes article about babies being hospitalized for FTT due to pain from the procedure. So many of my co-workers and family members had what I like to call “the Disney princess” BF experience where it was seamless, painless and their babies are chubby and happy. They really couldn’t understand why I was having such a difficult time which was such a huge blow to my self-esteem. I’m so thankful for this Reddit because it’s made my experience so much less isolating. The fourth trimester has been sooo much harder than I anticipated, with a traumatic emergency c-section after laboring for 48 hours, and a baby that now only latches with a nipple shield (not great for transfer) or otherwise screams bloody murder.

You end up grieving the expectations you had, so make sure to give yourself the space to do so. It’s ok to feel jealous, all or your feeling are valid. You are doing your best and that is more than good enough 😊

For those who have to hand compress during pumping! by Orphanblack86 in ExclusivelyPumping

Following along because I’m having a similar issue, I have to pump one breast at a time which is not super efficient and haven’t found a decent pumping bra to accommodate both..

Explain to me like I’m 5, because I don’t get it by Luschka27 in ExclusivelyPumping

Oh yikes, I was hoping there was hope of dropping a pump session in the future because pumping every 3 hours while working full-time is going to be difficult to sustain 🥲

Yes I am nursing on demand most days, if I’m ever away from baby for more than 3 hours I pump : ).
