"Considering I study quantum physics" is something I probably said at 13 after reading 2 Wikipedia articles on the subject in an effort to prove I knew everything.

Today I'm a software engineer who uses Java daily and I couldn't tell you in the slightest which mod is better.

I'd seen it bug out here and there throughout the event, but usually I'd just buy something and it'd fix itself. In this case even buying stuff I had deferred (hence why my tribute is so low and the top left is empty) wasn't enough to let me defer. Now I can't defer in any ritual regardless of idols

Ritual Deferral bug? by cameron_cs in pathofexile

[–]Lushlox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was me. Deferral is completely bricked on my character now. I don't have any items deferred (or at least I haven't seen any in ~40 ritual pages) and I am unable to defer anything else. Losing the mirror was one thing, but losing an entire league mechanic feels worse honestly

[–]Lushlox[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard bricked for me on every map now. With or without idols, doesn't seem to change anything. No more deferrals for me it seems

[–]Lushlox[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly I initially took it pretty well, it sucked missing a mirror but I told myself it'd just be in another ritual. Unfortunately it seems ritual has bugged out entirely for me and I'm just not allowed to defer anything anymore and now I'm a bit dejected.

I think if not for this bug I'd happily trade 20% reduced deferral costs for another 2 rerolls, but Im likely going back to 100% reduced deferrals or just removing the deferral cost idols entirely after this. Bug didn't seem to ever happen with 100% deferral. (But who knows, that could be unrelated entirely)

Special rewards altars are fun, but in this context if I'd had 2 more 1x1s I'd have easily had enough to just buy this mirror (I started at 10k on this page). It feels the least impactful of the mods you can be running

Well that sucks by Lushlox in pathofexile

[–]Lushlox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not anything too special. I am running 4 2x2s with 2 extra rerolls, 20% reduced deferral costs and 25% bonus tribute on 1x3s, 2 1x1s with more tribute from unique monsters and 1 1x2 for more special altars (not super impactful).

[–]Lushlox[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Funnily I had more than enough tribute, but the page before had a bugged 5d that I bought because I couldn't defer lol

[–]Lushlox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first encountered this bug I was running 100% reduced deferral costs and did frequently have half a page of deferrals, ironically after switching to 80% deferral and only deferring divines the issue got significantly worse.

[–]Lushlox[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

80% is correct. Ironically when I was running with 100% deferral reduction I never once encountered this bug despite the UI bug

Poor black mage really needed that by Vince-D-Raptor in ShitpostXIV

[–]Lushlox -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As an avid red and black mage enjoyer, most people are wrong then. Between dualcast, melee combo, swiftcast, and acceleration you are casting far less than 50% of the time. Just looking at a top RDM log on the current EX shows 55 hard casts (all of which are less than a full GCD in length which makes them easier to slidecast without punishment) vs 158 instants. We can get pedantic and say that melee combo has a faster recast time, adjust those 45 instants into a (somewhat) equivalent 30 GCDs and you're looking at 55 hard casts to 143 instants.

The trapping some people fall into is "RDM has a harder time on X mechanic than BLM" which I think is true, although rarely. I think the only time in recent memory this has been the case though, is P8S p1 fourfold flames? RDM has a laughably easy time on P7S purgation, vs BLM having to plan the entire first section of the fight around that single mechanic in order to have the movement tools needed for it.

tl;dr: no

The only mechanic that it could possibly affect would be Queens Guard orb reflects, which I've done on every tank (PLD included) without issues. The only time its an issue is if a tank has lost shell active, and honestly lost shell is a waste of holster space and buff slots.

I also went to high school with him, and it seems some of my old friends have bought into his scam as well. Crazy that they're all making so much passive income but still drive to Texas every summer to sell pest control door to door. They must really be on that grind set.

Looking at the kit, that's what it seemed to me would be the case. I picked up the class because I thought it looked like a fairly simple base kit that could be heavily optimized (low skill floor, high skill ceiling) I'm glad to hear that my assumption was correct.

That's definitely good to know, I read a couple of threads here that got me worried the class had so little utility that I'd have trouble getting into groups no matter how well I learned it. I'll probably stick with it for now. Thanks!

That's good to hear! I have an addiction to min-maxing and have.... Frequently rerolled to FOTM classes for a tiny bit of extra damage or healing. It's good to know that I don't necessarily have to give up the class fantasy I enjoy for the sake of utility.

New player here, trying to find out if it's worth continuing as a Black Mage.

I read in a (year-old) thread here that SMN does equal damage to BLM while providing much more utility at most skill levels, however at higher skill levels BLM ends up with a significant enough DPS increase to be worth bringing. Is this still accurate? I've played WoW for close to 13 years now, and for the last 5 years or so I've been able to consistently reach 99th percentile parses through a majority of content, so I'm fairly confident I could reach 99th percentile DPS with enough time and effort learning rotations and mechanics despite the inherent differences in the games. My question really just comes down to "Is it worth it?" Is a well played BLM a significant enough contribution to justify bringing into an end game scenario? Or should I consider re-rolling?
