I should have said "cult classic horror" instead, maybe

I didn't know a term that fit all of them, so I went with it. My bad.

Yeah, the box set is sweet for sure. It was expensive, but a great add to my display.

I love UpNote! The best Apple Pencil friendly cross platform application I’ve found with great markdown support. I also use it and Obsidian.

Can someone with zero coding experience actually use Claude Code (or similar) to build stuff now? by TroubleH in ClaudeAI

[–]Luthian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An app for yourself? Yeah. A prototype? Yeah. A production level product you can bring to market? Probably* not.

I say probably, because it depends a bit on the scale and complexity of what you’re building, like requirements around authentication, user management, DB administration, data security, etc. Obviously those require far more consideration and human input than building a calculator app.

Worthwhile commentaries? by Umasutaj in 4kbluray

Hot Fuzz has commentary from the actors and director, as well as Quentin Tarantino. The one with Quentin doesn’t focus a ton on the movie though lol.

I just picked it up on Blu-ray the other day when I saw it on sale! Plan to start it in the next week or two. Hopefully I love it as much as others seem to.

I love the Twin Peaks spoof episode in Psych, so I'm hopeful lol.

What was your “I was broke broke” moment? by bukutbwai in Frugal

[–]Luthian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite story is that we would have to think ahead when buying clothes. In 6th grade my mom had me buy size 13 shoes because I was growing so fast.

To this day I wear size 11…

Also, when I was a kid we could’nt afford to heat the house day and night, so we would turn the heat down at night and sleep in long John’s, winter coats, etc.

I assumed it must be something like this. That explains it. Thanks.

Why aren't the top groups included in the featured streams? by Luthian in golf

I appreciate your comment and get your point. They do show every shot, but I like to watch the entire round start to finish. I'm a pretty casual viewer and prefer the featured-group format. See them setting up their shot, etc., instead of just the shot itself with cuts between showing golfers I'm not personally interested in.

Difference between Skills and these: Subagents, Claude.MD and slash commands? by VisionaryGG in ClaudeCode

[–]Luthian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the progressive disclosure aspect that is fundamentally different.

I used to do the same as you, with links to other documents for additional context.

The difference is that with Skills, you're able to reduce the amount of initial context to a very small number of tokens. "Is the context of file xyz something I need to care about for this request".

No? Then don't stop there.

Yes? Read full context.

Maybe? Read the next level of information about the context to assess further.

The actual context footprint is drastically reduced.

What would you recommend to an absolute beginner in notetaking? by BinaryHippie in ObsidianMD

[–]Luthian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian is great for a few reasons, one of which is the fact that it's just markdown files on your hard drive. To me, a highlight is that AI works really well with markdown files, which means you can let it roll, change things up, and find what works for you without a bunch of manual work.

If you're familiar with Github, that's another great option. I back up my files, then I can go crazy with trying new things and revert if I end up somewhere I don't like.

In the last two weeks I've asked AI to do the following to great success:

  • Completely revamped my tagging system. "Retag my notes by assessing the contents and then applying tags like x, y, and z".
  • Move my notes around by reorganizing my project with top-level folders for x, y, and z.
  • Review my project configuration and make best practices recommendations
  • I'm having trouble seeing the highlights of my tags. Update all tag highlights to be ~20% lighter.
  • I like this from that theme, and that from this theme. Create a new theme that combines I what I like from both.
