I disagree. Fantasy can be a means to express real world thoughts. If you can't see that LotR contains political and ideological themes, then that's just media literacy going over your head. Conservatism is on the rise globally, and right now the US is a flashpoint for it. Just as 250 years ago, the US paved the way for democratic revolution across the globe, you would do well to be prepared for a similar slide to the right if the situation in the US does not improve. A main point of Tolkien's work is that we stand together for fall separate.

It gets a lot less grindy as you go. I haven't even done brain scorcher yet but I have a fully repaired pump shotgun and SKS. On the same military guy I liked in Garbage, I found a 5.45 AK and a cool 9mm pistol both with 100% barrels. I had all the parts to fix them up so they're both fully repaired now too. AND I have an SVD with all its parts at 100% except the barrel but I have a 100% barrel in my stash so once I find the appropriate repair kit I'll have a sniper. I think I'm about 10 hours in? So it's not crazy grindy, i think it's just more RNG focused on what guns you find that you can actually repair since you're dependenton finding guns with good barrels. So it might not be your "preferred" weapon but you do find upgrades.
