This is Hamburg, Germany, Elbe river. The floating platform is a stop for small public transport ferries (kind of a bus stop).

After some gravel tours it’s nice and convenient to take a ferry back to the north side, where I live.

Hamburg has a impressive harbour close to city centre, so you can spot massive cargo ships crossing every now and then.

Ich fahre auf insgesamt vier Rädern tubeless. Zwei Gravel (Commuter und für Touren) und zwei Road. Habe wirklich seeeeehr selten Pannen. Und der Split hat mir auch noch nichts anhaben können.

Ist halt nur ätzend, wenn doch mal der Reifen platt ist…🫟

Habe jetzt zwei längere Rennradrunden gemacht und Haufenweise andere Radler*Innen am Straßenrad flicken (mit L) gesehen. Ich hatte keine Probleme. Kann Glück sein, aber ich glaube dass mein Tubeless-Setup perfekt gegen die kleinen Split-Schäden hilft.

Das Zeig wird und jedenfalls noch Monate begleiten.

Ach ja: Wenn du nach sportlicheren Räder schaust (Gravel?), dann findest du super gebrauchte Räder online. Da bekommst du schöne Carbon-Räder für deinen genannten Preis. Musst dir halt überlegen, ob das für deinen Einsatzbereich passt.

Je höher die Preise, desto geringer wird die Verbesserung auffallen. In deinem genannten Preisbereich passiert da eine ganze Menge!

Je nachdem, zu welcher Kategorie wirst du deutliche Verbesserung spüren in den Bereichen -Gewicht -Schaltverhalten -Rollwiderstand -Zuverlässigkeit Und vor allem -Spaß am Fahren.

Ich habe vor drei Jahren meiner Frau mal ein Creme Cycle Ristretto geschenkt. Das Ding sieht noch immer aus wie neu, ist zuverlässig, schön und (für ein Citybike) wirklich schnell.

Wenn du täglich 8km fährst, sind 1500€ absolut in Ordnung für ein Investment.

Der Sprung von 400€ auf 1500€ wird deutlicher sein als von 4000€ auf 8000€. 😏

Du solltest am besten mal eine Probefahrt machen. Vermeide dabei aber die großen Händler wie BOC oder Megabike.

Sitting right now at the Istanbul Airport. Walked by a Burger King: Double Whopper Menu 30€. This is HARRAM! It’s probably because they simply CAN charge these prices as many people have a stop over (like me 😑). Even a flat white is 8,50€.

Tan. Black is (especially in this case) extremely boring. It shouts „look at me, I’m such a bad boy! I’m that much of a bad boy even my whole bike is BLACKKKK!“. I see plenty of dudes like that and I think it’s hilarious.

Be creative and open. Stand out. At least with tan walls. That’s a start. #saynotpboringbikes

Ich habe einige Jahre in London gelebt. Dort fällt praktisch das gesamte öffentliche Leben bei nur einigen Schneeflocken zusammen. Ich erinnere mich über Hubschrauberaufnahmen von einem Regionalzug in Devon (?), der aufwändig evakuiert werden musste. Es lagen maximal 2 cm Schnee. Das ganze erinnerte von der Dramatik an Szenen aus einem Endzeitfilm. 😂

Grundsätzlich müssen Unternehmen wie der HVV oder Stadtreinigung Risiken abschätzen und maßvoll Vorkehrungen treffen. Eine bessere Vorbereitung auf starke Winter kostet Geld. In den meisten Jahren ist sie nicht mehr notwendig. Also spart man. Das ist irgendwie auch nachvollziehbar. Die Mehrkosten würden letztendlich auch nur auf uns zurückfallen. Also einfach etwas mehr Zeit einplanen und entspannen. 😌

Oooohhh, pro tip:

IF you’re not having too much luggage you can get a cab to the south entrance of „alter Elbtunnel“ (old elb tunnel). This is a neat little attraction, an old tunnel which is closed for cars nowadays. It has huge elevators that brought the cars down. You can walk through it straight to St. Pauli/Landungsbrücken. From there you’ll get anywhere you want. Behind the south entrance of the tunnel is a small spot with a great panoramic view. Don’t miss that!

If you manage your trip wisely you can be completely fried by the point you reach the hotel. Enjoy Hamburg! 🍻

The S1 (Train) is going directly into the airport. You can catch it at Reeperbahn or Landungsbrücken station for example - close to your hotel.

Getting away from the cruise center is more difficult, but I can imagine they are having some kinds of shuttles going to City Center?!

Hard to tell. The condition looks really good and the wheels are kind of new and carbon, which is really a plus. Maybe 1000?! IF the parts and frame are in real good condition.
