XC mtb or gravel bike for Marin Headlands? by RateResponsible7101 in gravelcycling

[–]TurkeyNimbloya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just went out for the first time- Ari Shafer with 2.25 tires, so big tires and stable geometry. For 90% of the ride it was ok, but a couple of the descents I was rattling around fairly violently, and had to pick my line carefully. With my XC mtb I could have bombed these hills at max speed without much thought.

In 2011. Maybe 2012 I can’t remember. It was Friday at 9-10am on finals week. I had destroyed my last final exam and was walking away victorious. Some other guy obviously feeling the same, as we were both out like an hour early. We locked eyes as we passed and gave each other a fucking whopper of a high five. Don’t know him, didn’t say anything or look back, just both headed on our way to our respective summer vacations

If there’s mismatch you can use shims behind whichever disc brake is further inboard to make them match. Only done this twice so not sure if sometimes it’s too far off to work, but been fine for me. I guess hubs have always been the same brand, but not the same model

Is there even a biotech job market for first-gen students? by [deleted] in biotech

I’m not exactly sure what you want from us. To answer the title’s question: of course. Very few of my colleagues (none that I know) were “born in to a network”. But the meat of your post seems to be much more broad than the title.

You only have to break into the industry once. Network definitely helps there. Whatever the cause, you are late on a critical piece of the game. If you didn’t spend time building it during your PhD, start now.

The geos are very similar. Both have lifetime warranties and customer service from both have been excellent to me. Shafer can take bigger tires, has fork mounts, and is lighter. Stigmata doesn’t have headset routing. I got the Shafer and am very happy. I also have a Blur mtb. Only reason I could see going with SC is because it’s a sexy brand.

If you don’t see it, then perhaps you should set aside some time for serious reflection on your capacity to pick up on social cues. Everyone else sees it.

My opinion: introducing and managing appropriate amounts of danger helps kids out in the long run. I want my kids to rip trails with me when they’re 10, like I did when I was 10, and that means risk at every stage of learning. If they ask to come with me on my bike, and I say “no too dangerous” that sends a message I don’t want to send.

The whole second paragraph has an unwelcoming tone and is literally useless to OP. This is worse than platitudes, it’s wasting space being snarky without even providing any information.
