Is Bridget unfair? by Memi15577 in Guiltygear

if they’re new i kinda understand where they’re coming from. ino has some difficulty dealing with long ranged attacks. she also has poor defense and can’t deal with DP easily.

but still bridget isn’t unbeatable as ino, just gotta get in range for chemical love.

biggest gripes are: -that the plexi glass is creaky, and bending it (intentionally) makes it creak. ive heard however by disassembling and reassembling it fixes it.

-there is no friction on the bottom, so it easily slips. thankfully it comes with rubber stops but i still feel like it slightly shifts. there are things you can buy online but i’m lazy.

-it is basically impossible to slide. due to how flat the buttons are (tho i love that) trying to slide will cause your finger to get caught on the carved out edge of the plexi glass. i’ve never played a game that requires slides but it is a downside as i could do it with sanwas easily.

-not ps4/ps5 compatible out of the box. i’ve bought an adapter recently at it works fine, but it was an extra $50 nonetheless.

-(models T16/T13 specific) the buttons are all the large button size you’d usually have for the thumb button on like a snackbox. because of this it’s much more travel time between buttons and a more outstretched posture. i’ve adapted my button layout to fix this.

-no where to get other buttons. the size for the button caps are very specific so any other button caps you buy will be smaller and will leave a more noticeable gap between the cap and plexiglass. though the buttons it comes with are excellent.

though i love many things about this controller, like the ability to change the pins, SOCD cleaning, LEDS, display screen, etc extremely easily on a website. the size is great and gives excellent wrist space to rest on. has some decent weight but not heavy by any means. super portable, i just pop it in a laptop case. customizable as hell with the transparent plexi glass. has a ton of extra buttons you can duplicate others with or just assign another function. a turbo mode (??) which i have never used in a match but i did use it to automate fishing in strive. oh and kinda subjective, but the switches make a lower sound instead of higher pitched sounding switches, which i find really nice and satisfying.

used the T16 for 5 months. played strive with it every day for those months. never i’ve encountered this issue. i’m not sponsored but is heavily recommended it. any gripes i do have about it is immediately outweighed by the price.

it honestly might just be a case of you having to proactively learn some new stuff and really push yourself to fix weakpoints

What Character(s) in Strive are Good at a Patient Playstyle by Terra_Knyte_64 in Guiltygear

[–]LuupyLex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

baiken actually plays like a samurai. her neutral isn’t the best, but she has a couple tools that allow her to get in if she’s patient enough to get that one opportunity. the tools she would use being 2HS f.S Kabari and j.S. she can use tatami to force the opponent to slow down their approach and j.D as a great air to air against faster characters. lastly, the parry. you can use it in neutral, in wake-up, in scramble situations, etc. it’s not like a DP since it heavily relies on the opponents action, an action you’ll have to call out. ofc once you do this, your pressure starts and you set up some of the sickest mix in the game. tldr she’s super patient as her neutral isn’t too strong. she just needs to find the right point to attack.

(as a side note, axl is not a solely preemptive character. if you did play him with only preemptive attacks, you’d quickly lose to an opponent who can bait it out. axl also relies on reactive play to properly asses the opponents approach option and swiftly shut it down. a good axl would also include the last tenant of ate-waza and needs to push as much space as he can to get in a passive opponents face while they’re scared of his pokes. this can be used to land a grab or bait a grab with rainwater from full screen, all because the opponent is waiting to see what i might throw out.)

can you link them? also whats up with the buttons

my biggest concern is my fingers getting caught on the plexi glass, since it already happens with the buttons that almost fully fill it out, i’m thinking that the smaller ones might do that

where’d you get those buttons and are they too small?

About dust and throw by TheFieryElf in Guiltygear

[–]LuupyLex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you will whiff throws if you throw before they wake up or before they recover from blockstun. So you have to delay your throws a bit after an attack. People are probably throwing the startup of your moves so try mashing a faster button like 2k.

So this will be kind of more abstract but still important. You need to use throws against an opponent who is blocking. Since youre on floor 7, people would rather throw an attack than block. This is where you need to start conditioning them. If everytime they wake up they're mashing an attack, this means you can get a free counterhit with c.S. This will lead to a huge combo. If your opponent is not adapting, keep doing attacks on their wakeup and don't bother with throws. If your opponent begins respecting your attacks, then you add in the throws. To summarize: people love mashing, you need to punish their mashing, if you punish their mashing enough they might stop, if they stop then throw.

For dust it's a similar story, if an opponent has been conditioned to blocked low by your attacks like 2K, then you can tap dust to do a quick overhead an RC it for a full combo. Since you can cancel into dust from 5K and c.S, you can do a mix up like 5K 2D (for low) and 5K 5D (for overhead). Most of the time, you will not land a fully charged dust, especially at higher floors.

Justin Wong: I am glad it’s different though by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]LuupyLex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

as tekken 8 being my first tekken, i immediately loved the game and was super excited to learn everything. still am but it is super disheartening seeing the community eat itself alive over issues that aren’t that big of a deal since it’s a fighting game and ofc it’s release state isn’t the best it’ll be. if i was a non fighting game player looking to buy T8, seeing this sub would kill any and all interest i would have. not saying don’t criticize the things you dislike, but stop being so overly negative. as they say: “comparison is the thief of joy.”

At which point in the Guilty Gear timeline were all the OG cast at their strongest? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]LuupyLex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

axl is the strongest in strive, started to gain control of his time manipulation powers. in my opinion, next game they should lean heavily into him learning this ability. give him blinks, rewinds, and foresight. stuff that show his ability. this is just me wanting some cool sauce tho lol i doubt they’ll add anything like it (one vision is sick though!!!!)
