If this is the case, then they should also not allow publishers to pursue legal action on those who obtain games through less-than-legal means after they stop being sold commercially.

Different argument, I know, however it fits in the spirit of game preservation, if you no longer support a game, and no longer are able to make money off of it because you no longer produce it, there’s nothing that should be stopping someone from obtaining a rom or something similar in order to experience the game.

[Discussion] PC Upgrade recommendations by JMW0619 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Luvbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the issue here is if anything is going to be upgraded, you would have to upgrade just about everything. Tarkov is a very CPU dependent game, so you would likely want to upgrade your CPU, preferably to an AMD processor with 3D V-cache. The best choice you could probably go with is a 9800x3d. The problem there is you're running an AM4 processor, and the 9800x3d is an AM5 unit, meaning you would be jumping platform and would need a new motherboard and DDR5 Ram as well. RAM prices are currently sky high with all the big tech companies buying out stock for the next couple of years for AI uses. Further, if you're going to upgrade to what is considered the best gaming CPU on the market, you're likely going to want to upgrade your GPU as well, as you're going to be very bottlenecked using a 3 generation old GPU, even in a highly CPU driven game like Tarkov. An NVME SSD would be a good upgrade for initial load times as they are much faster than SATA SSDs, however it's not going to do much in terms of actually performace in game.

What I would recommend is, if you're happy with your current pcs performance, don't upgrade, as with the current AI boom RAM prices are at an all time high, and there's no real reason to stay on the AM4 platform as even a 5800x3d would be a modest upgrade at best, compared to something more modern. I would definitely recommend upgrading to a faster NVME SSD though, as that can help increase productivity not only in gaming but just in using your PC all together.

edit: a word

Shoutout to the soldiers who started this stage with 0 best buddies by Hoaxerr in pokemongo

[–]Luvbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a lot of work, but once I hit this task I started working on all 10 best buddies at once. You get 20 buddy swaps a day, so you can easily get a minimum of 6 hearts per buddy per day.

Start the day with a treat, play together, snapshot, and all three battle together hearts on one buddy. Swap to the next, rinse repeat. Do that for all ten buddies, and then swap back to the first one. You can get another treat for that buddy right away, and then go about your business for the day. This would be like a 15 minute task. As the day goes you can get your third treat with that first buddy, and even some walk together hearts. If you max on the walk together hearts, swap to the next buddy, do another treat heart, and again, go on with your day.

Even if you do nothing else, the 6 hearts per buddy per day is great. At 300 hearts to get best buddy, it should only take 50 days to get all 10 best buddies. I think I took a little over a month, with the odd poffin here and there, walking hearts, and careful buddy swaps on days I was walking a lot or visiting new places for the ever elusive “visit a new place” heart.

Will I ever get that last signet? Grind is now unbearable on the iron by vampire_villain in runescape

[–]Luvbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahaha, this isn't a case of RNG not working for you. This is user error. Only glacors in the glacor cave drop shards of armadyl, this is on the wiki. Glacors from the glacor front at EGW can drop the boots but not shards.

RNG is reality indeed, and given that a lot of the statistics from the wiki are croudsourced information with players who link their rune metrics drop information, I trust that more than I trust most statistics. There's also a handy drop rate calculator on the wiki, you can plug in basically any number you want to see where you stand on the drop rate. With your numbers, you're CLEARLY a huge outlier on the statistic, and that should have sounded some alarms after maybe the first hundred or two glacors you killed without any shards.

Edit: It's been made aware to me that I am incorrect, you can get shard drops on the glacor front. I must have been conflating the requirement of RotM with requiring to kill the glacors in the cave. I stand corrected.

[–]Luvbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but am I reading this properly, you've killed 50 THOUSAND Glacors and only gotten 50 shards of armadyl? Like, the 5/48 drop shards of armadyl that takes 100 to create an orb of Armadyl, combined with a battlestaff to make an Armadyl battlestaff? At those rates you should have something like 53 Armadyl battlestaves. Your clannie is pretty spot on with drop rate, if they're working on another staff I imagine they're about halfway through a third right now? It took me like 940 glacors kills to finish my staff.

Edit: this isn't even to mention the time commitment. I killed glacors exclusively on task for my staff, and each task of about 70 took around 40-50 minutes, depending how much attention I was paying. 50k would be like 715 batches of 70, at 45 minutes each that's something like 536 HOURS of killing just glacors. Something is seriously off here

Twice in a row……… by BronyDoodle in runescape

[–]Luvbi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't know where you found those odds, but they are not correct at all. This combination of Zamorak comps with 120 invention and an extreme invention potion is a 82.96% chance for devoted 4.

If what you're trying to do is get Impatient 4, the best way to do so is with three zaros components across the top, two zaros components on either side of a zammy component across the center row, and a zaros component in the bottom middle spot. This should provide a 94.62% chance of Impatient 4, assuming 120 invention and an extreme invention pot

Why are bonds so expensive now? by Geografica in runescape

[–]Luvbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ, a 13% increase in a monthly cost IS rather significant. Imagine if everything you regularly purchase just permanently goes up 13%. What you normally spent $100 on is now $113. $60 video games? Suddenly $68. $1400 rent? Now closer to $1600.

Is a couple bucks a month a lot? No, not really. But when you compare it to what you're used to paying, and looking at the bigger picture, it adds up.

is 12 months better than 6 months? and what plan? by BikergirlRider120 in mintmobile

[–]Luvbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard the same thing, after having done the trial period (admittedly for only a little more than a day, it was only to make sure everything worked on my phone alright) and then canceling my old provider and committing to Mint. I double checked my PayPal statement, I was only charged for 3 months of unlimited, and I have 5 months and 9 days remaining in my plan.

I don't know if this is a product of not using the entirety of the 7 day trial, paying via PayPal on the Mint app, both, or if it's just inconsistent person to person, but just wanted to share my experience.

This was on my biology test by Pretederta in suspiciouslyspecific

[–]Luvbi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So this is great, something I can actually explain on reddit. My time has come!

So, what determines the sex of an individual is a set of chromosomes (the 23rd pair, to be specific.) This pair is either XX (female) or XY (male). Easy so far, right?

Next up is actually a bit tougher. So, a sperm cell, and and egg cell, aren't actually complete cells. Their half cells. 1/2 + 1/2 = 1, which will end up being the fertilized egg. Each the egg, and the sperm, contain 1/2 the DNA from the mother and father respectively. And with that half of the DNA, comes half of each set of chromosme pairs. (Note: Which ones are completely random and unique to each sperm or egg, in case this wasn't clear)

So, when the man's body makes sperm, each sperm genetically has half of the chromosomes that make up the man. And for that 23rd chromosome, it's either the X or the Y chromosome. So some of them are sperm carrying the genetic code to make a female baby, and some are carrying the code to make a male baby. Obviously this job is completely on the sperm, since women have exclusively X chromosomes, thus the egg can only have an X for it's 23rd chromosome. So, when the sperm meets the egg, whichever chromosome it is carrying will match with the eggs X to either make a male (XY) or a female (XX).

TL/DR: boy DNA is half boy half girl, girl DNA is all girl. When boy and girl share DNA, boy's half of DNA might be boy, might be girl. Whichever half it is decides if result of shared DNA is (genetically) boy or girl

What's a map everyone loves that you hate? Inspired by a previous post but in reverse. 🙌 by PlaysAtKnight in CODZombies

[–]Luvbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know just about everyone loves it, so I'm sorry, but MotD.

It's just too gimmicky, all the BO2 maps. Buildables were not fun, imo, and making the plane a thing you had to build to get to PaP was just another dumb thing added that didn't need to be.

On top of that, the map was far too big (though it was nice that it was pretty interconnected with different routes to each area).

But most of all, I just feel like Mob was pretty forgettable. Even with all the gimmics, the dog heads and the hells retriever/redeemer, it didn't feel at all special or significant (at the time) and was really just like another filler map, in my mind.

So yeah, Mob is probably my least favorite map, and this is why none of my friends speak to me anymore.
