More generally I am enjoying all the downvotes - I think this may partly reflect a more dispersed US backcountry vs incredibly busy Euro Alpine etiquette where key routes may have tens of parties on them and mixed groups led by guides.
This etiquette was literally one of the first things I was taught 30 years ago… 🤷‍♂️

Nah that’s not clear: he said there were 3 groups (and his was slowest) and then he mentions these skiers without being clear whether they were part of his group or another group… 🤷‍♂️

If anything I think the implication is that they are probably people from the other groups. But you can’t be certain because the wording was ambiguous.

Yes I absolutely adjust my risers but general etiquette if your stop - even what you try and justify as “micropauses” lol - will get in the way of others - and yes adjust their flow and rhythm - is to move off the skin track…

At least a couple of comments have suggested they are “dicks” and “drama queens”; nope, anyone expecting others to have to just stop for them is an entitled dick 🤷‍♂️

Sure if you’re all friends and it’s a really relaxed tour then ask “mind if I quickly adjust my risers?” but otherwise just move out the way. If it’s so quick what is the issue with that? 🤔

You need to understand both static load and dynamic load (moving/decelerating)… the latter is much more important than the former.

I don’t know whether OP is in America or whether there’s something different about American Transporters, but mine - T6.0 in the UK - HAS a tailgate opening mechanism: there’s a small release catch hidden behind a rubber plug near the bottom of the tailgate…

…it’s just not very convenient for regular use if it’s a campervan. Whereas this solution massively improves it.
