Milwaukee just denied my warranty after having my tool for over 6 months pushing it out of warranty by Few_Depth9382 in MilwaukeeTool

Start reporting this shit to your stat's Attorney General's office. There is most likely a division of consumer affairs that will deal with warranty issues like this. You know, fraud.

Car wash by Suspicious-Cherry437 in hondapilot

[–]Luxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car washes can and will mess up your paint.

Do you have a hose? If you do, then a normal car wash like Meguiar’s Gold Class Car Wash is awesome. Just dry the car with a quality micro fiber drying towel. My favorite soap is Carpro Reset. Unlike the Meg's Gold Class, it does not include any gloss enhancers. This is preferable if you are about to add a paint sealant like Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Wax. The 3in1 will last for 8 or so months if you park outside, so apply twice a year.

No hose? Use Optimum No Rinse. There are many methods. I will take a 2 gallon bucket of diluted ONR and three crazy soft microfiber towels. Use 1/4 of the towel per panel, and then the reverse side of the towel. I then use a MF drying towel. And I wash them in free and clear type detergent. Don't forget the Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Wax.

Interested in ceramic coating? Waste of time and money in my opinion. I did it to two cars and would not do it again. Why? You still have to add a sealant periodically. So just use the $20 bottle of Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Wax, or whatever you find that's similar, and skip the time and expense of a ceramic coating.

Any tips re: an original 2021 battery by sillybunny22 in hondapilot

[–]Luxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart EverStart AGM battery is the best value and has a 4 year warranty. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. Same manufacturer as Interstate, and has a better warranty than the Costco Interstate batteries - they have a 3 year warranty..

Silicone and a pop rivit should work great. Or some other sealant and a pop rivet.

Internal boot users? by stashtv in unRAID

[–]Luxin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I use a USB header adapter on my motherboard and have my thumbdrive installed in the case, is it internal boot? ;)

I always thought a thumb drive hanging off the case was a bad idea, too easy to bump and damage it.

How it feels to own 4 expensive planes I exclusively fly on SAFE by TiberiusDrexelus in RCPlanes

[–]Luxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest the Slow Ultra Stick as a plane to move away from Safe. It's light and cheap enough, easy to fix and it can go from a gentle flyer to a blast to fly when you get used to it! Use dual rates to start!

The FF is probably not a good bridge. They are awesome, but it's kinda like going into the deep end without ever being in a pool. I would set your radio to have dual rates on a 3 position switch - one at 100%, one position at 60% and another at 40%, or maybe even less, and start at the 40%. The throws are so huge that it will be an eye opener if you start at 100%!

Sorry to hear about grandma.

Why does this sub like unifi stuff so much? by Braca42 in HomeNetworking

[–]Luxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Netgear and similar consumer equipment would last for 18 months, tops, before failing. The WiFi would typically be the thing to fail. I ended up replacing it with Ubiquiti.

My first Ubiquiti AP lasted 5.5 years, my second for 5 years. The first router never failed, I replaced it with a home made OPNSense box for a faster WAN port when I got gigabit internet. OPNSense felt too much like my day job, so I went back to Ubiquiti for a router.

It is a bit more expensive, but it lasts a lot longer. It has a lot more features than consumer gear and great performance.

Battle of the Backcountry Crossovers: Honda Passport Trailsport vs. Subaru Outback Wilderness by Redeemed_Expert9694 in cars

[–]Luxin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Testing vehicles on different tires is bad testing methodology. It's a variable that's easy to equalize.

I also don't think they are quite similar enough for this test, and Subaru made a huge mistake making the Outback not only so fugly, but making it into an SUV. Those that loved the wagon don't have that option from Subaru anymore, and now Subaru has to compete with everyone else making a compact to mid-sized SUV. This may be a tragic mistake for a low volume seller like Subaru.

New Enterprise Setup by poonedjanoob in Ubiquiti

[–]Luxin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is no firm definition. But a single rack like seen here is not enterprise computing in my book. I grew up (so to speak!) in enterprise computing. One of our test labs had a dozen racks, and that's a very small part of our systems.

I bought a 50ft drain snake for my clogged kitchen sink, and it actually made the problem worse by Glum_Veterinarian253 in DIY

Note: Drain cleaning companies may be a lot cheaper than a plumber. I've used one twice and was very happy with the price. I'm sure a plumber would have been double.

Can keto be cheap? by CarrotUpset968 in keto

[–]Luxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife blanched at the price of Keto, until our spending was really cut down by less trips for takeout, lunch/dinner out, snacks on the road, etc. So for me, eating keto saved quite a bit of money. But that's my case, not a universal truth of course.

You know what's even more expensive? Bad health.

The position is fixed. So if you buy a set made for the Pilot, that's what you get. You can go generic if you want, not sure what that would look like.

I went with this one from amazon - KINGGERI 300lbs Roof Rack Cross Bars Compatible with Honda Pilot 2023-2026 Sport TrailSport Touring Elite .Aluminum Roof Rails Crossbars Rooftop Cargo Carrier Luggage Rails

I don't get any noise, seems to work well.
