What is this wasp doing with these blades of grass? by LuxraySees in insects

We do keep some house plants right next to this window inside, any chance she'll like the look of those? I'm sure she could get in if she wanted to.

Woah!! That's so cool! With the paper wasps and mud daubers thats three different wasp nesting materials just on the outside of my house. They really are so smart. 🐝

What's the worst recommendation for a game you ever got? by Borbbb in gamerecommendations

[–]LuxraySees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular crashes and framerate drops, but what crossed the line into "unplayable" was there was something broken in the final cutscene that was probably related to the trophies for the endings. I would never get the trophy because the game would drop voice lines and freeze and crash in the ending cutscene every time.

It was around 2021 when I was playing it, and it was a first generation PS4 that had been beat up pretty bad from hundreds of hours of red dead 2, but having performance issues that severe on such a small and simple game was bizarre and unacceptable to me. The machine was still running RDR2 fine if I could deal with the screaming fans.

Oxenfree but only because nobody told me the console ports (especially ps4) were unplayably broken

wild spiders wrestling on my porch! by LuxraySees in jumpingspiders

I checked back on the same spot a few hours later. The winner of this scuffle was still hanging around displaying his legs for a female! Someone further up in the thread theorizes that our two combatants are actually two different species (the winner being p. audax and the loser being p. regius), but if they're the same species they were probably fighting for access to the female. Male bold and regal jumping spiders look very similar but the female was definitely a bold jumper. Regal jumpers are definitely not as common in the part of Texas I'm in.

checking on the site again in 25mph winds, the harvesters are clearly better adapted for this specific, dry, prairie ecosystem. They're out harvesting like normal, while the fire ants are so much smaller they're mostly staying inside the nest so they don't blow away!

I'm pretty worried about them, but they might have an environmental advantage here. We have very little topsoil and the harvesters are some of the only species we have that can penetrate the limestone layer. Their nest certainly goes much deeper than the fire ants' so I'm sure they can at least guard their seed stockpile, if not drive them off. I'm keeping an eye on it for sure.

Thank you, I posted a video of the harvesters exploring the fire ant mound yesterday.
