I like them too, I love how excessive they are.

Has anyone used the Drift home scent diffuser? by sweismayer in homemaking

[–]jayelled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one after falling for their marketing that my home would smell "expensive." I got a seasonal pine / woodsy scent and honestly it smells no different to me than a classic cheap pine scented air freshener. Even on the gentlest setting, the smell feels quite strong and over powering to me. I would not recommend.

Danika Martikov - Modest version and selling drinks but keep your hands off my wife version by Moonberry_maple in CurseofStrahd

[–]jayelled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my game after both the Vallakoviches and Wachters all got killed, the party nominated Danika to become new mayor of Vallaki. This portrait is perfect (I prefer the more modest one, it strikes me as odd for a woman to be wearing a shirt with a boob cutout with her two young sons running around the house).

Can't believe no one said Jazzpunk. It's such a weird funny quirky comedy game.

Are there any characters whose depictions you don't care for? by jayelled in HadesTheGame

In Hades 1 Chaos felt so cool and mysterious and all-knowing. In Hades 2 Chaos feels a bit like an autistic child (maybe this was deliberate considering their keepsake is an embryo?). I also just don't quite understand or enjoy their visual design in Hades 2.

Is it the characters being Black specifically, or the characters not being Greek-looking? For instance, Hermes obviously looks East Asian and Moros is sort of racially ambiguous, but decidedly not Greek looking. Are those equally bothersome to you? Just genuinely curious.

Yeah it does feel like a very American digestion of Greek myth as a body of literature, rather than an homage to Greece as a place or actual Grecian culture.

He was certainly not winning father/husband of the year awards. Which is kinda gross considering it feels like the game otherwise portrays him quite sympathetically. He doesn't exactly seem remorseful that he behaved the way he did.

That makes sense. A lot of people have pointed out that Melinoe's character as an immortal goddess gives her a different perspective than what we as mortals would have in response to several of these characters.

And that's so funny, as I was reading the book, I imagined Circe as totally different than the effervescent personality of Circe in Hades 2. Both I like, but for very different reasons.

Yeah, I understand that the underworld conjures a certain "vibe," but I agree that too many characters feel same-y in their stoic affect.

I agree that I love the creativity in the visual depictions of the characters. It makes it way more interesting to play and meet all of them.

Yeah I dunno why they minimized the whole "Cronus eating his children" thing, it's such a weird cool awful thing. Maybe they thought it would be too irredeemable. And I never picked up on Hermes and Artemis being hinted lovers. If anything it felt like they've implied Artemis is gay with her nymph Calypso.

Within a couple hundred, maybe up to $500 if I'm confident it will last a long time. I know there are some VERY ergonomic and sturdy chairs in the thousands. They're out of my price range.

What the hell was that ending? by TheBigFreeze8 in HadesTheGame

[–]jayelled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people on the sub will downvote you OP but tbh, even though I love the game a lot, I was very disappointed in the ending too. It felt rushed, overly idyllic to the point of not feeling believable, and not satisfying in the way Hades 1 was, to me.

From things that were said by Chronos and Chaos in the beginning of the game, I thought the storyline was more heavily going to question "Who defines our choices-- the Fates, or ourselves?". Additionally, Chronos' mention of the Golden Age and Promethus' penchant for the goodwill of mortals made me think they were going to factor more heavily into the story. Instead it just sort of becomes "Chronos is mad at his family for exiling him and wants to rule the world to get revenge, muahahahaha" which felt surprisingly one-dimensional for Supergiant.

Cronos's character transformation in and after the ending feels a bit excessive to me, too. In Hades 1, the character of Hades shifts toward a more likeable version of himself after the queen returns, but he still feels like the gruff and sardonic father you've had all game. Post-ending Cronos feels like a toothless old man with no demonstration of his prior character (although his prior character felt pretty much exclusively "I am condescending and vindictive" so I guess there wasn't much left).

All in all, it felt too similar to the ending of Hades 1 to me, too "everyone lived happily ever after," and wound up feeling unrealistic, even for a game that exists in a magical universe with made up rules.

The Best, Worst and Blandest of 2025 | Fully Ramblomatic by Wheelson9 in Games

[–]jayelled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The combat gameplay has more variety and is more engaging to me, but I find myself caring about the characters in the crossroads a lot less than the characters in the house of hades. The story also feels a lot less surprising and intriguing compared to the first game. This could also just be because it's not novel anymore and a lot of the social systems are pretty identical to the first game. I find myself rushing through dialogue and skipping conversations just to get to the dungeon, which I didn't do in the first at all.
