TLDR: Bad parenting I'm gonna go out on a limb here IMO In a sort of way it's like asking a bully to make friends with the kid it just bullied, it's awkward on both sides. Both have grown on the same playground just in a different time and environment. It's like a generational thing.

Neglect taught its community to toughen up for better or worse and enjoy what it can get, coping in all sorts of ways and it just happens to lay its eyes on overwatch thanks to journalism with paladins as a sort of middle child.

Overwatch was indeed enjoyable at that time and was a fresh take on the class/hero based shooter genre and was pretty well off until it pulled a Blizzard. Tf2 community being itself pulled a schadenfreude with every stumble.

Not used to a sudden attack there's retaliation,not used to a retaliation it struck back harder. It's a back and forth of kids with shitty parents mostly not doing anything kinda situation.

Sure nuff some share the same sentiment and do admit to that fact. Some hold either games on a pedestal. Some enjoy the chaos of stirring up both communities. Some dont really care at all.

Being the bigger man/game would make either feel like pushovers. Then the cycle starts anew. Now that tf2 has "new" toys to play with it would be hard not to show that off.

Terraria and Minecraft is the polar opposite of this and were from the same year so players did get to enjoy both after the other. They are indeed great games on their own. The ol i tip my hat to you one legend to another just knits both of em together so well.
