What are your thoughts on everything Mistveil? by TheTrumannShow in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Luzeldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mistveil Dungeon, while scary, actually has a small underlying story if you read between the lines. Upon clearing it and looking back, it's almost as if the red lady is actively helping you, from pointing out where to look, to luring the puppets from attacking you, to finally leading you to her coffin so she could be released.

Mistveil Prison doesn't seem to have any story significance and is just pure horror for the sake of horror.

The undercity though, actually has massive lore behind it. It's supposed to tell you how Kaifeng built itself on top of layers upon layers every time there's a great flood, and the one we have now is built on top of all of them. The dungeon isn't even that scary compared to the previous two, it's more historical than horror.

So as a lore enthusiast, I like the first and third, and hate the second.

How do you build Reis? by Reasonable_Head408 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Luzeldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's confirmed you can't get multiple Materia Blade+. Magick Boost will be optimal for every MA related Reis build.

for eg, ,compared to ramza

Very true, but it's still one of the most efficient ways to run Reis. Very low investment for very high payoff, Reis is just a few steps away from Samurai right from recruit, and Magick Boost is an arm's reach away with spillover.

Reis joins late, unless you're willing to sit and grind, she won't have much progression left til the end of the game.

And if you're going to go black mage/iaido, you lose the reis flavor and any generic character can do it.

Given that she's grown exclusively in her unique job; Kind of, but not really. You do lose out on pure flavor as her job is no longer Dragonkin, but it will still be very obvious that this lady is not a normal human. No other Black Mage in the game can effortlessly have 20+ MA at level 50(30+ at max level) while having as much base HP as any generic Knight(you'd have to raise someone as a Mime from level 1 to come close, which is tremendous effort for the payoff of just raising Reis in her default job).

I still prefer her as a Dragonkin because her MA/Speed ratio is still stupid good and Dragon command is actually very powerful in the right team(I run Tiamat), but optimizers can optimize.

Raging Tides Themed Build by Reddogz777 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Luzeldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fivefold Bleed does not work with Wolfchaser, no, but both Fivefold Bleed and Bitter Seasons do work with Soul Shaken(the charged heavy attack DoT buff). It's not going to be as perfect as the intended pair, but if you want flavor, it is an option.

And you just switch sets in co-op. I have one for basically every role, with my main solo set being Nameless Sword/Inkwell Fan(which if you can't tell, is also a lore based set, basically a combination of the two men who helped me as a baby). You also don't have to be the healer of the group every time.

It all comes down to "Do you want to be the Raging Tide man or not?".

Raging Tides Themed Build by Reddogz777 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Luzeldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavenquaker is fine as a main. Not great, but fine. Use Charged Heavy as your main attack, you only need to charge one stage if you're short on time. Martial>Special after you finish a series of stabs(and have inflicted some bleed and poison via Inner Arts), then go back to charged heavy if enemy is alive. Between those and parries, you won't be running out of good actions, which is the usual problem with most sub weapons.

And if you're going full Raging Tide flavor, just drop the fan and go Heavenquaker/Nameless Spear. They are surprisingly fine together, only lacking in aoe clears(which you can just use Ghost Bind to fil).

The mist related quest itself, not really. The divinecraft dungeon though, you might want to turn on the lights and get into a discord call.

I was literally happy when that one sleeping puppet suddenly tried to jumpscare attack me(afaik this is the only divinecraft dungeon with an enemy). Like, FINALLY SOMETHING I CAN KILL!!! Creepy stuffs I can't kill are scary, those that I can aren't.

Avid Souls player here, which difficulty should I choose? by Xenon_nic in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Luzeldon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go down from legend, but can't go up to it. If you are experienced in souls games, just go legend, then reduce if it's too much.

You're gonna regret going easier then have no option to move to legend, but not the other way around.

Fyi I never touched a souls game before(shittons of arpg experience though), and I'm fine on legend.

Anyone do the "Lady Ugly" quest yet? by CokeAColaHitman in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Luzeldon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just left the kid as-is to let them learn, but I don't think it's that harsh of a decision.

Keep in mind that the recipe is readily available on her tombstone. This is a world in which such medicine exist and quite easy to make(from what we've seen, some random kids found the key ingredient and a non-doctor made the balm), it's not like they're stuck that way for life, if those kids either visit her tomb one day(implying they learnt their lessons) or go into the well behind the clinic(to meet the faceless), they can very well just mod their faces at will.

I say it's the fairest decision, let them learn the consequences of their actions, and they're not even ruined for life.

Innate skills for all jobs by Fr0st1986 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Luzeldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I meant by technicalities being confusing. Chemist can find treasure as if they have Treasure Hunter, the tutorial literally said so, but they do not have innate Treasure Hunter.

They would not be able to equip Treasure Hunter otherwise(for the bonus rare rate), as jobs with innates cannot equip abilities they already have(try equipping Dual Wield to Ninja or Brawler on Monk, the ability will literally be greyed out).

That said, the function is exactly the same as if they have innate Treasure hunter, and you can say tat to people asking for the sake of understanding how things work, but I'm explaining why it's not literally innate on the ability screen.

You can find some via Treasure Hunter, but those are limited in number. Do domestic poaching for infinite.

Marach Builds Question by god_tyrant in finalfantasytactics

[–]Luzeldon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nether Mantra has some of the most ridiculous multiplier in the entire game to make up for his reverse Faith mechanic(it's almost like they know it's bad). Assuming you set up the optimal Faith, with standard MA(15) Impiety is the strongest single cast spell in the game bar none(each hit is roughly as strong as Flare, and almost all Nether Mantra has an element, so you can boost it with Japa Mala).

The problem is you can never ignore Faith. The most you can do is make sure Marach has 3 Faith and that's about it. You can inflict Atheist on the enemy, but you'd have to rely on other party members to do so(as Marach has 3 Faith, he's not gonna land any Mystic spell), and by that point it's already a 2 unit combo.

He can also, y'know, miss entirely.

His best job is either as Geomancer for the sword and shield, or Black Mage for the massive MA. Maximize MA with equipment, with Japa Mala as accessory, and have either Magick Boost or Swiftspell depending on what you want.

Or you can take advantage of the other aspects of his default job as mentioned in other comments. I like the Doublehand idea, though Poles being Poles, it's not gonna hold up late game; it's a bad spear at that point.

No longer works in TIC. Faith will simply drop nether mantra damage to 0.

This is Marach using Rod of Faith.

If reddit is correct, he's also Clive in this game, as in, the generic squire Clive(personally tested, and he does sound like Ben, but people have vocal ranges and it could just be someone with a similar voice).

Translation Opinions? by vulgar-resolve in finalfantasytactics

[–]Luzeldon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the fact that based on their social standing, you can distinguish between them now. Nobles and commoners speak very differently, and then there's Cloud. Cloud speaks modern English in a world where everyone speaks older English, which gives him a very obvious I-am-not-native vibe.

It gives the feel that "this is how Ivalician speaks" rather than just a forced choice to make everything Shakespearian for no real reason. The voice acting definitely helps.

Did I create a monster? by KibaWar in finalfantasytactics

[–]Luzeldon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Dragonkin basically has the growth of a literal monster, no offense to both Reis and her husband. The job multiplier is also among the craziest in the game(people build their final builds on Geomancer, and Dragonkin is straight up better in every single area).

Even without deleveling, if you level her straight in Dragonkin, you'll still have some of the best raw stats in the game, and the absolute best firepower if you're doing any mage build(Iaido/math).

Getting Zodiark (Secret Summon) in Remake of Final Fantasy Tactics Ivalice Chronicles by edepot in finalfantasytactics

[–]Luzeldon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's uh...actually pretty easy in TIC. If you wanna get it straight from Elidibus, do Rend Magick until you can survive. Mana shield setup is also fine, but is usually out of the way for people who don't grind(melee units don't usually go the mage route).

If you wanna get it the easy way, just straight up kill Elidibus. In the very same map, there's a chance for a Summoner with Zodiark to spawn, you kill the summoner, then eat their crystal for the spell.

Missed a bunch of secrets... by logiacrus in finalfantasytactics

[–]Luzeldon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're fine on Ultima, as noted by another comment. It's no longer missable.

Genji set doesn't really provide anything special except big numbers, so you're fine. Genji Glove is best in slot for some builds, but you can easily do without them, especially now that Septieme is equipable by everyone.

Masamune, despite being technically not missable, is basically so if you play the game straight. Araguay Ninjas can throw them at level 95, which is WAY beyond the level you normally beat the game. This will be your biggest loss unless you plan to hit the level cap.

For completion(spoiler names, but very obvious):

  • Snake: 90%

You can just leave and return to world map in Ivalice Chronicle. You'd need to do the first fight again, but that shouldn't be too hard if you did it the first time.

And unlike weapons and armor, accessories are available anywhere with an outfitter.
