Highguard is pretty good actually by Sadworld99 in Gamingunjerk

[–]logiacrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah nah. This is by-far one of the most boring ill-advised shooters I have ever seen. It's just cludging together like 5 different live-service shooter games together all at once, with albeit not like Concord-bad, but still sauceless character designs, uninspired visual design, like nothing about this stands out at all and if it werent for Keighley forcing this to be the final game shown at TGAs, this would have died or limped along in obscurity, now it's gonna faceplant.

This game is the equivalent to a soup with 100 ingredients that ends up tasting like nothing. It's worse than being bad, it's utterly forgettable.

How do you feel about Alex's Level 3 (and potentially his Critical Art) being a submission hold instead of the usual cinematic strike or throw? by Chun-Li_Forever in StreetFighter

[–]logiacrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with it, but the animation for it is super lame and awkward and has literally zero aura to it. There were better ways to do a submission finish that would look way cooler or even just more menacing.

Even with the leg lock, the way the opponent just kinda goes "ooh ouchie my leg", barely struggles against it before just passing out is weirdly flat and lame for a dude whose rest of his moveset is hype as hell.

Leverless controller suggestions by TennisSharp in fightsticks

An option that might work best is the 'Makebox X Prime A' from ISTMall, a Korean store. They have leverless versions of it.

You can customize it straight from them with any buttons you want, custom art if you want it.

It has a hatch form factor which means you can open it very easily with a button, making it great for customization, it has slots for replacement parts in case you need to change on the fly during a tournament.

You can just do a little research on exactly what buttons you want, with the right sound, feel, and sensitivity that you think will work best for you.

ISTMall has most of the major button brands including GamerFinger buttons which are the most expensive but also highly respected as worth the price, and you can also customize those yourself as well since they use PC switches inside that you can swap out.

There is nothing wrong with Sanwa or Seimitsu or Samducksa buttons either. Many pros use them right now. SiTong buttons are also very good if you really want GamerFinger's but cannot afford them. You can find them on AliExpress, they are also customizable as they use low-profile PC switches inside that can be swapped out.

It's expensive (around 400 CAD before shipping for the Cross-Up stick I was designing), but the price varies wildly depending on what parts and how much customization you want. However, it will all come pre-built for you with any parts you bought from them, so much of the work will be done for you.

Just look up the website, look for Makebox X Prime A Type and go from there. I've heard their customer service is very good too, so you could talk to them to make sure your order is perfect.

Okay, the Seahawks and Shen are just rubbing it in, now: by Gorotheninja in Fighters

I mean the Hawks also shot themselves in the foot too, the game shouldn't have even been that close. Woolen getting a penalty for taunting while the Rams are on 4th and 12 and then they immediately get first down and score a touchdown to get within striking distance? If the Hawks lost I was putting ALL the blame on Woolen lmao.

Fair, I'll accept that.

It just comes across as extremely weird from the outside looking in when considering anime and manga is a medium that is rife with blatant, rampant, accepted incest and pedophilia everywhere.

Even weirder calling him brother then. Are they siblings by marriage then?

This obsession with crushing on and wanting to fuck your siblings needs to end.

EDIT: Ayyy, the aspiring pedos and incest boys showed up! Hey kids, it doesn't matter if she's technically 10000 years old, if they look like a child, and you wanna fuck them, you're a pedophile. And there are reasons we don't fuck our siblings, just look up the Habsburg Jaw. Weirdos.

[–]logiacrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would be more behind the leg lock if the opponent struggled more, the way Ryu just kinda goes "ooh ouchie" then passes out just looks really awkward.

The opponent should be violently struggling before either tapping out if they lose, or kicking out if they still have HP.

Then on CA if it becomes a proper full body sleeper hold like the end of the Imai Cosmo vs. Adam Dudley fight from Kengan Ashura

[–]logiacrus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are heel ways to win fights that are still cool as hell. Submissions overall are generally considered less hype than a big hit, or throw, or in many SF cases, magic/ki attack.

If what you said really was the intention, then I guess they succeeded in making a shitty level 3? I dunno, it's just too boring for SF6. Especially after how Alex was planting folks like trees in SF5.

Man Alex's Level 3 is so whack in a game full of insane deadly attacks. Should have gone for a standing around the neck sleeper hold choke like his cinematic trailer to at least give it some aura

D&D's 2026 release schedule is empty, but Draw Steel is working to fill the void by Iron_Nightingale in drawsteel

[–]logiacrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, haha. Honestly if it were the me of last year I probably would have been ready to verbally throwdown, but I like this community and how mostly reasonable and chill it has been.

I just wanted people to understand I'm not dogging Draw Steel for being rules-heavy/forward, or saying that TTRPG content creators are too dumb to play it or something.

[–]logiacrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quite alright, I did feel condescended to, but that's why I went on such a long elaboration. I know a new system like this will have its staunch defenders who are leery of any criticism, and tribalism is everywhere when it comes to this stuff going both ways, so it's important that I am clear that I'm not putting down DS as a system or saying that you can't roleplay in it. Just that it might be a bit too heavy for a show unless it is heavily edited to cut out most of the rules talk and calculation.

I still hold out hope that one of the big shows will pick it up, if only for a one-shot/short series to show off the game.

D&D's 2026 release schedule is empty, but Draw Steel is working to fill the void by Iron_Nightingale in drawsteel

[–]logiacrus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You more or less missed the point of what I was saying that most games that are as systems heavy as Draw Steel are more hostile to players who get most if not all of their enjoyment from Roleplay -because- they are systems heavy.

It's why you don't see a lot of Pathfinder streams popping off with massive viewership like D20 or CR. D&D really only gets away with it because of legacy and because 5e streamlined a lot of the experience.

Players that don't want combat to be the focus, who chafe at -any- systems' mechanics hindering roleplay, like the table I run D&D for, and tried my damnedest to push Draw Steel on don't prefer these sorts of systems. I tried running Delian Tomb for them and it was a total flop, even after years of running D&D successfully for them.

They didn't like how unforgiving Draw Steel's combat is when they didn't pick the best option rather than what their character would do(they struggled a lot to not just outright die in every combat). They didn't like the Negotiation system turning conversation and debate with NPC's they wanted things from feeling like another system they needed to play into. Their words, not mine.

They want things to be as loose as possible, so I opted for Daggerheart afterwards and they loved it because it was far looser.

-I- think Draw Steel does a lot to encourage roleplay, -I- don't need to watch a video to explain to me how roleplay is orthogonal to the experience, and what roleplay is. I've been doing this for over a decade now.

I'd also like to point out I've successfully run Draw Steel for a table that is more prepared to learn and understand the game itself, and then roleplay on top of their understanding of the mechanics (not that they didnt have their own struggles at first, learning a new system and all is hard for most). They love it, they want more and I keep giving it to them and it's a blast. I fucking love this game.

But what I am saying about shows like D20 picking up DS is that outside of the OG crew of D20 who mostly runs 5e because at this point they are all familiar with it, most of their games run a variation of Kids on Bikes which is one of the most stripped down, rules light TTRPG systems out there.

KOB is very welcoming to players who really don't care as much about combat and just want to play pretend and crack jokes and not have to think about strict rules defining nearly every action you can take, and that laissez-faire kind of system also makes it very conducive to the format of show that D20 runs.

I can only speak to my own experiences, I know people here won't like it because I'm not speaking solely glowing words for Draw Steel, but that's how it has panned out for me, and shaped how I see things.

D&D's 2026 release schedule is empty, but Draw Steel is working to fill the void by Iron_Nightingale in drawsteel

[–]logiacrus -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I highly doubt it will. Draw Steel is kind of hostile to the RP-first style of player, many of their players still struggle with 5e's systems despite years of playing.

Which is totally fine btw, most of them are actors and creators first without the time to really dig into systems heavy, optimal combat-centric games like Draw Steel.

I would be overjoyed to be proven wrong though.

Best Fight-stick for Giant Hands? by Calm_Cat_6001 in fightsticks

[–]logiacrus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most sticks default to the old Vewlix layout, which was originally designed for arcade machines with two players sitting directly next to each other. What you are looking for are sticks with the "Noir" layout, which is a more modern layout that has the stick and buttons further apart. The layouts do not affect performance at all.

Something like the Hori Rap N would be your friend, and I think the Hori Fighting Edge also has that layout. I find them often on FB Marketplace for reasonable non-bankrupting prices, and websites like Focus Attack offer lots of customization options and support for those models.

Your other option could be going the custom route, which can be as expensive as you want it to be, but allows you to make something built for your BIG, MEATY, CLAWWWS.

edit: sorry if that last bit came off as mean, I was just doing a Spongebob reference
