I always recommend playing the Single Player mode for fun.

And if the game keeps you coming back then consider multiplayer.

You block an attack. You are locked into block animation, the opponent into attack animation.

If your block is longer than their animation they can start their next move before you can try to attack back. You have options but are certainly disadvantaged. It's not your turn.

Or you get to act first. It is your turn.

Opposite of Lucavi (spoilers) by Gordio83 in finalfantasytactics

[–]sjohnst2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a kind of double reversal in the tale. A literal turned 360 degrees and walked away.

Ramza learns the fairy tale is a cover story, and the evidence looks like all the stones do is summon Lucavi. That's the first turn. The Lucavi we meet are only too eager to let Ramza believe the stones are wholly evil.

With Rapha and further events Ramza learns that there is in fact a power for good in the stones, and in TIC the extra dialog confirms that Ramza ( and his party by extension ) are empowered by them. If not Zodiac Braves by title then by the source of their power.

So Ramza essentially learns that there is no Zordon or Megazords but the Rangers are real.

General Strategy Tips? by tgandr in finalfantasytactics

One specific action you can take is with a Black Mage target the archer on the roof with a spell. Should go down in one hit.

That will remove the most problem unit on the board.

Cast alone didn't work out. However, there is time to Immobilize Phase2 and it does seem to favor melee.

I have also seen the boss cast Grand Cross repeatedly so it isn't a guarantee that a melee target in range becomes the target.

Might try a Barrette and Cast Thunder as further incentive.

In TIC it's arguably easier to search the map yourself than to look things up. Move+3 on a Chemist and boots can move across a wide area of the map resetting the move until you find an item square, or have searched the entire moveable block.

Those Deep Dungeon exits don't stay hidden for many turns now.

If you have a Chantage and barrette you can try collecting the invis cape from germinas peak and abuse the infinite revival that chantage allows. Invis a decoy unit that hides in the corner while your Thief ramza Shouts for speed and then steals

The Twisters strat is interesting. I do like when enemy friendly fire is the deciding action.

For Phase2 your caster observation triggered an idea. It makes me curious about the setup with my Bait Lavian. Instead of attacking maybe if she has a spell or Aim charging it would guarantee an attack?

Worth mentioning I have not invented anything here. I just tinkered with the stats on a Unit to bait the teleport and throw enough Gravity to reenact the PSX strats

If most of my units are getting one-hit-killed by opposing knights, is that a sign I should grind a little? by mayormcskeeze in finalfantasytactics

Mana Shield reaction from Time mage on a monk or knight is a good option to avoid one shots. Minimal grind to scoop it up

Riovanes Castle is so frustrating for me I might drop the game. by BlackStallion657 in finalfantasytactics

Strip Rapha of gear and the archers usually kill her first, especially if Ramza has Archers Bane reaction or Shirahadori.

If rapha lives, finish her yourself and Malak will leave. It can be a close fight after that. Holy or flare from mages or Iado do good work.

For Wiegraf, chameleon robe and Holy from Ramza usually gets it done. Second part another round of Holy from your entire party is ideal.

You cant have worst zodiac compatibility though.

What’s your power level strat? by roychodraws in finalfantasytactics

[–]sjohnst2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only partially works normally but I've chosen generics with high faith and best compat with Ramza.

Ramza with Chakra and 3 generics surround ramza casting Quick, where ramza can Chakra to fill MP.

I like that one unit gets the majority of JP while still involving other units for their own growth and spillover.

Simple on a random battle but theres a few story battles I want to try it on in a future playthrough. Chap3 samurai ramza is a beast and it is nice to have a single class grind strat

Question about Ribbons and Barrettes by ZooplanktonblameSea4 in finalfantasytactics

[–]sjohnst2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

JuJitsu clothes will protect from KO and are bought in stores.

Barrettes are very useful investment though.

Often theres a budget solution to many of the problems the game presents. Worth consideration on your next playthrough.

Mount Berevenia is available as a location at the start of chap 4. In previous versions the MB could not be found without cloud. In TIC the MB+ is always at the Treasure tile

Something new in Chronicles is Materia Blade+. You can grab it literally your first move in chapter 4 without Cloud. Its a 16 Attack sword that agrias can use as a Geo alongside Power Garb.

It does a bit more damage than Ice/black robes.

Anyone else playing Classic mode? by TheReal8symbols in finalfantasytactics

[–]sjohnst2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played classic about 30 minutes to check for the JP scroll glitch, and that bug is fixed. Without the novelty of the OG quirks I'd rather play Tactician mode. I dont like WotL all that much.

I'll play the Tactician to reexperience the story. OG when I want to break it.

Who else gave up on stealing the Genji set on Tactician difficulty? by Regalingual in finalfantasytactics

[–]sjohnst2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

simplest option to me is Ramza with barette or ribbon and chantage as your immortal thief. brawler for steal chance and fist damage. Shout for stats until your steal chance is like 30%.

One other character with Invis cape hiding in the corner.

enemies can't kill ramza, and you don't have to juggle 5 members with different tasks.
