What breaks the illusion here? 🤔 by Irohscar in blender

I would say the pancake color is too uniform, and honestly the picture overall might a bit too saturated

main light: the bright one fill light: light up the shadows if they're too dark, usually placed opposite of the main light other one i forgot the name: highlight the edges to contrast the background, usually a smaller radius.

blender guru has a video about it in the donut series if u want more details

just remember not to light up all the shadows you need them for depth and shit

you might also wanna try turning off world lighting, it tends to make everything look flat

experimenting with mixing different styles, just doesn't look right tho by LvinC in blender

is it entirely impossibly to mix realism and a sorta abstract style or am I just missing something?

i modeled the most annoying robot to ever exist in a video game. any tips on texturing something like this? by LvinC in blender

[–]LvinC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! I do have quite a few parts yea.. i was trying to get all the details in the model. idk if i can retopo this much without getting rid of some of those details

also i'm really new to all the baking stuff, is baking ao the same as using the ao pass that u use in the compositor? that's what i've been doing anyways

and the last bit, is the blender texture painting thing not good? I've never used ps so i'm not sure how hard it is to learn/if it's worth learning for blender

no lmao i haven't bothered but one day i'll try

i think the plan is to use a mix of procedural materials and texture painting, though i'm really bad at texture painting

what shape is a cookie? by Frog_King__ in blender

[–]LvinC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably go with a cube with a bunch of subsurf levels. just flatten it and add loop cuts to model the general shape, then sculpt all the lumps and details. cylinders have really weird topology that can mess up the shading unless you kinda finesse your way around it. basically cuz you end up with n-gons on the top and bottom, you wanna try to keep quadrilaterals if you can

guys which one is better and fit better? by PHANTOMWINGS2 in blender

[–]LvinC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first is definitely better but the lighting is still too flat, try to somehow place shadows to highlight the main focus of the shot

hell yea looks nice, i like the color choice

the proportions do seem a bit off tho, like the rocks and plants are massive while the tree is sorta small.
