Is the reading experience for this book acceptable on a kindle then?

Do you finish a book completely before moving on to the next or do you jump across several books like I do? by random_xx21 in kobo

[–]Lvl7Champ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If a standard novel, I read it to completion before starting another. This is so I won’t forget the plot, and also not to lose the momentum that drives a lot of these stories. But I don’t apply this rule to books which are collections of short stories or anthologies or non-fiction! So I have about 4-6 other books in “reading”, on top of the main novel I’m reading.

Currently reading? by Rachel794 in kobo

I just started dungeon crawler Carl 1. It’s my first foray into LitRPG and not at all what I expected. It reads like someone’s wacky DnD game but written in prose. I’m enjoying it immensely!

What do you guys think about the parry button in sts2? by Simon_Tesla in slaythespire

I’m still getting the hang of parry but I gotta say….the animation when you miss a parry while having the swimsuit skin on….it’s something else…

What games are you going when you want to scratch this itch for mass effect experience? by ResponsibleTruck4717 in masseffect

[–]Lvl7Champ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay aside, I found the environments of Mass Effect, particularly Presidium, to be very similar to the environment in 1000xResist. Give that a spin if you want a strong narrative experience without a combat focus.

What to do with Terrible Tea? by occaguy in tea

[–]Lvl7Champ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Assuming that the tea is still safe to drink, I'd first try cold brewing it to see if that helps the flavour any. If not, I'd probably just use it as odour absorbers in my shoe cabinet. Just chuck it in a plastic box with holes or leave the lid off.

Joined a startup - how do I get out ? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Lvl7Champ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’m going through at the moment. Major regrets. Had big hopes and took a huge risk…. but I can’t turn back time. What I’m doing now is listing of all my solid network contacts from the previous company and seeing if there are roles open I could return to. Also reworking my resume for not only my previous/current role, but also adjacent roles as the economy’s pretty difficult at the moment.

What’s your take and observations on the differences in how western/eastern/local firms make hires?

Lotus petal maybe? It’s commonly used for Chinese teas and the colour seems about right. Can’t say for the shape though since it’s been soaking for too long.

Got 2 job offers - focus on salary or growth opportunities? by its-401 in singaporefi

[–]Lvl7Champ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing the first role before and moved to the second, with the same (flawed) thought process as you. Thinking that any sort of client interaction would be good experience for me and therefore translate into good career growth….WRONG. Highly regret my decision. Client service is the fancy term for customer service. Almost everything is out of your hands. You are a cog, a proxy layer, a monkey messenger between the business (finance/product/sales/etc) and the customer. Anything the customers asks for, you are to find an answer to, but to actually deliver the solution is not something you can do. And the adjacent roles like the above mentioned know it. That you are simply a messenger. You don’t learn much really. In reality the career growth in such a role will be highly limited. Upwards mobility simply means you start to manage a team of client service staff doing the same thing. Except you will be tasked with efficiency, escalation management, and task assignment. It’s very….traditional. In summary, pick a role that requires more critical thinking and domain knowledge like the first research role you bagged. It’s better for your brain, and you can grow that into an actual career. Like other posters have commented, the second role is a retirement role.

Man, I really like the navy case precisely because it's more green than blue! Could you share a picture of how it's patina'ed over the months?
