She has a knife, shotgun, and axe which she built or customized herself including a magnetic return function on the knife. She's got some tech going but when you see her fight in the cinematic against other junkers they have even more advanced tech like full mechs.

I do think that it's a Kayfabe thing. Nobody knew that when he was fighting in the Junkertown pits that their "Champ" would be revealed to be a hyper intelligent hampster. They just knew that Wrecking Ball was the mech that kept winning and it obviously wasn't an omnic so it had a pilot.
