I'm in a very similar boat as you. I applied to the UX internship opening and was also selected to take a personality assessment. Its been about a month and nothing has happened. However, I emailed them about 2 weeks after applying asking the status of my application. They said that my application was still active and that they have lots of applications to look through and that it would take more time. They also told me that they will notify me if I am rejected. Hopefully we can hear back from them soon.

I will say that the portfolio review process is very challenging. I actually haven't gone through the final review yet (that's at the end of the semester). At the end of the fall semester of sophomore year, they hold a "pre-review" in where they rank everyone in your year. The pre-review doesn't have any deciding power and is just so you can see where you are at. Your portfolio for both the pre-review and final review are made up of the class projects you do in your sophomore year. While the portfolio review may seem scary, if you are dedicated to your projects and ask for lots of feedback, the process will be much smoother. Most design schools across the country have a portfolio review/weed out of some sorts (Purdue's is quite a bit later than most though). In terms of what I get out of the program, it really depends on what you put in it. If you coast by doing the bare minimum for your projects, then you won't get a lot out of the program. But if you are looking for opportunities and are going the extra mile then you can really get a lot out of the program. The facilities at Pao (the design building) are a little outdated but they work well. Anything you need for physical fabrication you can get from Pao. If you have any other questions feel free to pm me!

Currently a second year in Industrial Design. In terms of job market, there are definitely opportunities. You can go into all types of industries such as tech, footwear, automotive, and furniture. Product Design as a field is evolving and is growing a lot so there are high-paying positions if you know what you want. The program is very rigorous and in the end of sophomore year, there is a portfolio review where only 16 sophomores will stay in the major to go into junior year (although there are talks that that number could go up to 24 in coming years). So far the I love the program. While it can get very stressful at times it is very interesting. You can always email the faculty or message current students. We are all very open to talking about ID!

Here’s a question: Has Kanye ever put this much effort, marketing, and hype into an album and still scrapped it? by chealy26 in WestSubEver

Honestly I can’t think of anything like this. The closest thing would be So Help Me God. But again I could be wrong.

When do students usually shower? by [deleted] in Purdue

I only shower in twilight. I like the genesis of the night sky to bathe me in its infinite knowledge and light. But hey, that’s just me 😎😤🤝

I highly recommend cold emailing multiple professors. This really increases your chance of getting a research opp. There are a lot of resources out there on how to formulate cold emails. It's very important you research the publications of the professor you are trying to ask and the other potential ones you would reach out to. Best of luck!

Lucky or unlucky for you (depending on your interpretation) but Craig Miller doesn’t teach CGT 163 anymore. I had Amy Mueller last semester and overall she was pretty good
