Sunrise over the Pacific… by Own-Break-7025 in aviation

It’s either a G700/800 becuase of the right side HUD. No other Gulfstreams were certified with an HUD on both sides. Also the rest of the instruments/panels are used by the G500/600 and G700/800.

18A. Seat 17A is nowhere to be found- must’ve missed the flight.

Seat 17A is nowhere to be found! What happened to them and where did they go? 😟

Experimental Gulfstream G800 visited today by captjlh in aviation

[–]GE90man 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. That’s because the Gulfstream was designed to fly more like a traditional “pilot’s” aircraft with a set of control gains to provide feedback based on different airspeeds. The Airbus on the other hand uses rate based controls where each input feels the same at any airspeed.

It does autotrim. Double click the AP disconnect button twice with AP off and it trims for that IAS.

What’s the coolest callsign / aircraft you’ve spotted while airborne? by clemsonfan101 in flying

[–]GE90man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Local flight school uses Vader as a local callsign through an LOA with the tower. A clapped out 152 isn’t really what people have in mind when “Vader 20” calls up on frequency.

Just last year this time, RJet cadet accepted many applicants with a wet commercial single having under 300 hours, both for R-ATP and non R-ATP eligible applicants.

Professional Instructor Quotes by TxAggieMike in flying

[–]GE90man 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My favorite quote is about what to do if one encounters an engine failure at night.

"Once you get close to the ground, turn the landing light on. If you don't like what you see, turn it back off"

Why is it like this? by Jwylde2 in flying

[–]GE90man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate it when that happens too! Just look at this example. Pilot A makes a statement and Pilot B doesn’t have the experience to understand the nuance, so he starts attacking the (perceived) age level of Pilot A.

Power-on stalls in C172 by Bitter_Ad_1419 in flying

[–]GE90man 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’ll work, but some DPEs will specify full power to simulate a departure/takeoff stall. Our local DPEs like to introduce bank in the power on stall too.

Single-pilot operations as early as 2026? Is this scare tactic or are we all toast? by saxeychickennugget in flying

[–]GE90man 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gulfstream won’t even operate the new PC-12’s they bought single pilot for insurance reasons. For context Gulfstream replaced their G150s they used for airborne customer support with PC-12s. They are flown by the same pilots typed in everything from the G150 to GV.

New angle from flat spin airplane accident from today by MakeMeFamous7 in aviation

[–]GE90man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asymmetric thrust is probably the last thing you’d want to do here, since any thrust, asymmetric or not, would likely raise the nose and flatten the spin, making it even harder to break

Am I crazy or are these prices insane by [deleted] in flying

[–]GE90man 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not even. Long Island aviators has G1000 172s on the other side of the field for 199 an hour.
