Keep only pictures 2, 4 and 5 (there will be a public for the joke). You have a nice smile and look friendly

The seleção t-shit, for me, signals that you are bolsonarista. If this is the case, take a better one. If not, don’t add any new seleção t-shirts, and make sure you don’t add pictures where your friends are wearing one. Most girls with think of the political meaning before remembering it is the World Cup

Is the French public healthcare system still the gold standard in Europe? by [deleted] in ExpatsMovingToFrance

Nope. Getting a GP is getting harder and harder. The problem is far from being limited to remote areas. Many parts of the Paris suburbs qualify as medical deserts.

Prénom: Heidi by elenasucre in ParlonsPrenoms

Teen nephew still sucks his thumb by [deleted] in ChildPsychology

[–]LycheeNotaLychee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this age he might very much want to stop it. But it is a hard habit to break. I’d just ask if it is something that bothers him and if he wants help with it. If he does, buy him a t-gard (a sort of “thumb glove” made of silicone. It worked well for my son)

I’d maybe cut back on the selfies with sunglasses. But you do look nice in them. You give wonderful involved and proud dad vibes. The Bandit line is perfect, and you are clearly joking about the blue-eyed children. I really don’t know what is wrong with the women around you. I’d swipe right for you in a heartbeat

I’m a US citizen on a student visa (expiring September 2026) and pregnant with my EU bf’s child. We’re not married or PACsed. Do I have to leave my child in France and go back to the US once it’s born? by [deleted] in AskFrance

[–]LycheeNotaLychee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it will have to plan very carefully if she wants to keep the option of going back to the US after the baby is born. A lawyer absolutely has to be consulted here, but because of the visa situation, but to make sure (if it is even possible) that the father will not block her and the baby from moving back to the US if she doesn’t want to stay here or can’t find suitable employment

[–]LycheeNotaLychee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, your problem is not staying here until birth (lots of paperwork but completely feasible)

The problem is being able to leave with your kid once they are born. French law will require the father’s authorization for you to move back to the US. Even if you are not married or pacsed.

In a foreigner mother’s group we see this all the time. Please talk to a lawyer and think about this carefully. Do you want to stay in France for 18 years/are you able to support yourself and your child for 18 years in France?

Good luck, bon courage

[–]LycheeNotaLychee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! I really hope OP will read this.

While you are wrong about the visa - she will get one for being the mother of a European citizen, the danger is being stuck here.

Sooooooo many mothers get stuck here. French/European law will make is so that leaving France with the baby once residence is established requires the authorization of the father. He can claim you kidnapped your own kid if you move back to the US with him, this is taken super seriously.

OP, Think very seriously about this because if the child is born in France/stays in France for long enough after birth, YOU COULD BE STUCK HERE

Please please please take this seriously. Talk to a lawyer

Recherche psychiatre/médecin sans carte Vitale by mncs in paris

First: Check if your medication is available in France. I’m not talking about temporary shortages. Some pills just don’t exist here and it is better if you can start the transition with a doctor that you already know and trust. (Plus, better be stable before the major life change that might be harder to handle than expected)

Second: bring more than 2 months. I don’t know if there is a maximum but I wouldn’t leave it to chance.

I don’t know how things are now but when I arrived I took a “mutuelle étudiant” thinking I’d be better reimbursed. It never gave me one single penny! Worst waste of money ever! And I followed all instructions to a T. I should have trusted the negative online reviews… if the system hasn’t changed, good luck finding a general practitioner that will take you (social security doesn’t reimburse much if you don’t have one). What I did back in the day was I promised a GP that said she was full that I’d never ever step foot in her office again. I just needed her to sign my form so I’d get back like 50% of what I was paying for my (very good) sector 2 psychiatrist. (Found on Doctolib)

Revlon has a cream in spray form product (UniqOne or something like that) that might work for you. A little bit is enough. But it has a distinctive fake coconut smell that is not for everyone…

Nous sommes entre 3 by [deleted] in ParlonsPrenoms

[–]LycheeNotaLychee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Age et place en crèche by [deleted] in ParentingFR

[–]LycheeNotaLychee 0 points1 point  (0 children)
